  1. There is a review online somewhere, where it compares the R31 and the VL commodore. I believe they said that that the aussie skyline had a better build quality and had slightly better handling than the equivelent VL. Knowing Nissan compared to Holden I'd say that'd be true. Well my old R31 was up to about 280,000km before i sold it still going strong. They have a very strong engine (capable of some 350,000km) if treated well. The power output on the R31 is 8kw up on the VL for some reason (different exhaust?) try www.r31skylineclub.com -- they have some old articles on there.
  2. yeah.. i know i was thinking more in terms of this...
  3. haha.. great well i have the sideskirts already, and most systems are go.. But I still have to work out how to get to the goldcoast a few times a week with no car for 1-2 weeks while they paint it
  4. yup..wherever we *did* end up was a pretty mad route.. one lane most of the way and exciting features such as gravel and pitch blackness. Was pretty mad in itself, but had absolutely no idea where i was or where i was going, until i finally saw a sign that said "nerang 26km"
  5. Another good night and some great fun.. Even if we did end up taking the "scenic" route and lost everybody. But there was no WAY i was stopping in front of the blue boys. Was loosing traction fair bit going up those twisties.. damn crappy tyres. Also have to love it when the exact moment you lose a bit of traction a car happens to be coming right around that same corner :-$ few scary moments. I need a GTR Still want to know what happened to the sil80 driver who just kinda stopped (stuffed something?) in the other lane of the mountain? when a few other cars were coming the other way??
  6. thats gay.. even in the police state you can get away with that one! if a cop pulled me over for that, you know where the food would end up before i hooned off lets see the cop try and catch me with a BigMac and Fries in his eyes huh! lol
  7. wtf?! thats in invasion of my rights! what happens if i starve to death while driving huh? if I suddenly collapse at the wheel due to lack of food huh? and how are cops gonna eat their donuts now while at the wheel? its an outrage I tellsya!
  8. children... stop
  9. lol - what chop said. Looks good and a few kg lighter than the factory bonnet. Also often as they have vents, allow your engine to breathe better and dissipate heat more quickly. But don't expect it to hold up too well in an accident. Looks like Custom Carbon is in Queensland. My mistake. Thats where I took that photo of their promo car anyhow Looks like they can make pretty much anything in carbon fibre to order. Japanese CF Bonnet VS Custom Carbon CF Bonnet Custom Carbon products are all 100% carbon fibre. No fibreglass inner frames are used in the construction process which adds weight and bulk to the end product. Custom Carbon CF bonnets are only 6mm thin! Other bonnets utilising the standard metal structure with a carbon fibre layer can be as much as 20mm thick! The result is that Custom Carbon CF bonnets are thinner and over 10 kilograms lighter and half the weight of a Japanese CF bonnet Looks like they do it properly as well.. none of this carbon fibre skin over fibreglass stuff either.
  10. I've even been just burning stuff quickly on CD-RW before i shoot out, then deleting it when i get back home or get bored of the compilation and putting something else on. Only way to go these days.. hmm.. time to sand back my front bar repair.. excitement plus.. oh well, gotta be done..
  11. mp3 + car stereo = the best
  12. /me waits for the slap down from strutto..
  13. i'd say a 350z will make an appearance.. yeah..first one was bareable in some ways.. 2nd was a load of crap except for about 5 minutes of car stuff. 3rd.. not sure. Would be good if they brang back Vin diesel, he's a dumb ass but at least plays the part reasonably well. Just Paul Walker was lame in 2fast2furious as he was a bit of a dweeb if you ask me.
  14. lol.. yeah.. i think me and twoquik will just go straight down and meet at Yatala.. Milton shinannigans just delays things.. Its going to be a big night anyhow Might even check my tyres and things
  15. looks ok.. don't forget postage costs will be steep on an exhaust. Just looking for rust and holes i guess. hmmm.. looks loud.. no 2ndary muffler in there. Just the resonator. Depends what you want -- and whether the cops hassle you or not
  16. if those leaving milton are leaving at 8pm.. they'll get to yatala at 8:30pm as its only a 30min trip.. which means they'll be waiting a while before the "others" get there at 9pm or so.
  17. f.uck -- can't find them! There was a guy last year on here, selling them for R33. He was selling heaps of them, and people were happy with them. They were around the $400 mark for like cat-back.
  18. wait.. i go find.. guy on here was selling them.. apparently decent.. cheap

    Club Update

    No surprise there..
  20. yeah.. least it won't cost you the earth. May even handle better than before as that stuff tends to wear over time as well. Yeah.. get a full exhaust.. buy an off-the-shelf jap and fit yourself, what you save on labour you can go full system.
  21. I'm not necessarily saying that the concepts are implausible, I just question whether its possible to power a GTR with the incredible amounts of torque required without massive battery or fuel cell technology, even with that area advancing so rapidly.... Or even that sensible considering there are plenty of ways to smarten up a traditional 4WD system that aren't being currently exploited and that don't require some zany electric motor. There is powering a nice hybrid Prius to get you around town, then there is using an electric engine to get you around a racetrack. We need some engineers in this thread to sort the feasibility of this one out I think...
  22. Actually to be honest I reckon Ghosn has just been sucking on too much of the whacky baccy.. was probably in his office choofing on a big fat joint one day and between a toke decided "hey check this idea out man, an electric GTR! that would be like, woaaa, so way cool man.. imagine that!" next day..
  23. Interesting. Nissan stuffed around with electric technology in the 60's for their cars, so they've had some previous experience. Even came up with a production model I believe. I find it hard to believe they are able to produce an electric power system that is capable of powering the front wheels to one of the fastest 6cylinder production cars out there.. but we'll see. Seem like "very high hopes" in the technology, lets hope its not false pipe dreams to keep people off their back. Last I heard was that the turbocharger itself was going to be electronically assisted. Now that does make sense and is quite feasible. meh, i reckon they should just take that c110 and stick an RB30DETT in it and attessa.. that will do me
  24. Thats why it pays to act dumb sometimes.. soon as people find out you're good at something they hassle you I think its my time to leave too.. laters all :wavey:
  25. what do you do genesis?
