haha.. i think NismoGirl could well have a point! Depends on the time of day, where you go. But sometimes you just see a few in a short space of time and you definitely notice. Especially R33.. R32 are a lot less common. Coming from Melbourne its pretty different. Don't see too many R34 here at all, but you see quite a few in Melb There is an R33 around West End (blueish) which I saw a 40 year or older woman driving. Seen her driving a couple of times. It always puts a smile on my face - just picture your mum driving a stock as a rock skyline When you're mum is driving the same car as you, not sure how cool it is anymore.

hmm...definitely sounds heat related.. although I am also in the Queensland heat and have had no similar problems. Have you tried regapping your spark plugs? do you know what spark plugs you have in there at the moment?? I've seen the separate coil idea and have been curious. Looks like they use standard Bosch coils, which are around $30 each (I think) and fit older distributor cars, and then via standard leads to the plugs. That would be easy. How they fire each of the coils via either the existing igniter pack, or some other method I don't know?? Obviously they wouldn't use a distributor which would be the old school way of doing it. Anybody know the mojo?

Mine was more along those lines as well.. not necessarily stop the 15 year rule as thats not the underlying issue, but get their head out of their ass and realise that the whole reason for it was the debarcle of SEVS. Make SEVS slightly more workable (even via a few small changes) and the whole 15 year rule is a non-issue. Even if they do go option 2 (which i think they will probably do no matter what), they at least have to make SEVS less restrictive - as these 1989 cars will suddenly become SEVS anyhow. When I sat down to think about it, that was the main conclusion I came up with. They want newer, safer cars in the country - make them cheaper and easier to import, not less so. Otherwise the vehicle fleet will increasingly become old, and we'll see ancient R33 roaming the streets in 20 years just like the VL turbo. The demand will never die unless there is something to replace it. Why else could you possibly explain that a car manufactured in 1987 or so still sell for $6k and upwards! And even if they do realise, at least express the fact that it pisses me and many people off. It wasn't a blasting either, hopefully it came across fairly constructive. :werd: seems like that is the main underlying case. Doesn't stop me from expressing the fact that if that keep it restricted the fleet of imports here will just get older and end up further and further modified. I don't believe in giving up something I believe in, and a passion of mine.

Good work ferretting them out somebody had to do it, good work.. I'll add: Here is the original thread about the calipers, but the photos may have been lost. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...ead.php?t=19736 Here is a very quick one on spark plug replacement, although I believe there was another out there. Unfortunately its not the first post so you may have to pull it out. I'll edit it over time to improve it, as I realise it is missing photos. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...32&postcount=41 Stereo Installation guide for R33: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...ead.php?t=12956 Some valuable advice regarding R33 exhausts http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...ead.php?t=33991 My fav fuel pump 910 installs: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...ead.php?t=23957 The original..with some other info on fuel pump installs from others: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...00&page=1&pp=25 -
Have you driven it in the wet yet? And being Victoria, you're gonna get plenty of it during winter! You'd better!! and you better get 12's.. but when the defect notice and EPA comes knocking at your door, I know what state I'd rather be in ..

Just need a garage at home w/ lighting and good motivation. When i was working 8:30-5:30 I got quite a few things done like install a stereo, servicing, etc. That hour for lunch to pick up stuff can be invaluable!! You also gotta pass up the getting so smacked on the weekends, you lose half your most valuable part of the week feeling like your head is about to explode. Once i did that I had heaps better time management, but it was never easy i guess. I did a lot of the work servicing my car, servicing, etc in the dark during winter in non-daylight savings. Was a bitch, but one of them "lights on a stick" and a 20m extension cable can be invalueable.

baa.. here you go again ! can't help yourself can you? With the right low-mount turbo, l3thal will be spinning away while you're forced to take it easy ..making sure you don't snap into the red zone at the wrong moment. Not everybody needs to go for a massive high mount, external wastegate, etc, etc - we're talking *street* cars anyway. Not that you'd ever get out on the track or the drag strip anyway Insant!
-
ooo.... laps!! Will try and make it, will have to see how the week pans out.

Just down at the local supermarket before.. Noticed three, yes, three R33 in the carpark (including mine). Not even a really big supermarket. Made me think "hmmm, they're as common as shopping trolleys these days aren't they.." See so many of the R33 around QLD these days, like the announcer was saying at Drag Combat, Queensland is almost is the Skyline capital of Australia. And while the annoucers are generally full of ***, I don't think he was that far off the mark. They're everywhere! Just at drag combat, there would have literally been 60% R33 skylines there competing. Not that I really bought my car to be unique or have anything different, but man, even I'll admit they're common as mud.

yup.. we left at 3pm and it was looking pretty dead. "Finals" if you could call them that weren't until about 4pm or something. And I don't think anybody really could be bothered sticking around. Most of the cars had given up trying to get good times and just let their cars stay safe in the shade. So there wasn't even much to watch by that stage. Organisers would have lost lots of money I would say due to the temperature. Right concept I reckon, but just wrong day for it.

Door Window Tint getting scratched
predator replied to PuppaDuck's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
Yeah, its very hard to stop it scratching a little over time. Like JimX said, you can adjust it. Otherwise its just fact that every even despite using this "Formula1 best on market, blah, blah" that it will happen sooner or later. I guess you just wait the 2 years or so before it becomes to bad and pay the $50 to get the window redone. General "wear and tear" item. -
Rocker Covers aren't so easy to get off. If you have changed the spark plugs before you'll probably know most of the stuff you need to get off to get to them. Its mainly just getting the intake piping and things like that out of the way. You can probably see the outside screws. The inside screws are in the plastic cover. Once you undo them all they just lift off. I don't believe you need a torque wrench for the cam covers to put back on - i definitely didn't use one. You shouldn't have to replace the rocker cover gaskets unless you somehow damage them while removing the cover. So really its just a disassembly process. It took me I guess 30-40 mins to get them off.

nooooooooooo..... feel for you mate, I know what its like pole.. ouch.. painful
-
lol.. i was wondering whether somebody would ever ask that. Basically when I had the entire dash out of the car, i basically just had a steering column, and seats.. no speedo, no stereo, no dash, no heater box, no nothing. Felt like a go-kart driving around and looked like it too - was kind of fun for a while too Got some funny looks at the lights. yep, but we were also talking about go-karting on saturday (drag combat) and how that could be a good event for everybody if we could get the numbers.

Thats it for now.. Believe it or not I probably have about another 40 or so on my hard drive... digital cameras are the best !

strange... but fast:

now that I look at the reflection on that airbrushed shot, quite funny where it ended up!
-
ok..well i think i'm in love with at least hmmm....all of them! now for some actual car shots.... on a honda: nice: simple effect, but a nice one: carbon fibre all around! While it was rough and you don't want to see the inside! it definitely had presence. An ex-Japanese pro drift car that was imported recently:

more ladies..

Ok, thanx to strutto.. and problems with the SAU gallery here are my shots.. large size - but i hate low quality pix.. so you'll either have to bear with, or not look. Will start with of course what people would probably like to see:
-
i did say I *think* they are 14mm.. i'll edit. Even a written description is better than nothing. Its slightly hard to illustrate from a photo how to do some of these things anyhow. I can circle them I guess.
-
meh.. its only a front bar.. Why pay $300+ for a car bra, when you can get your front bar resprayed for that much? I drove 1600km from Melbourne to the Gold Coast.. did i get one stone chip in my recently painted front bar on the way.. nope. Sorry but you can't be so protective. Its a car, if you drive on the street it will gradually wear. Its what happens. Otherwise garage the car and never use it.

yep I'm still waiting for the computer to "crash" on my 33 and send me plummeting towards my death, but has yet to happen
