  1. good work.. ahhh, sweet that answers the question as to how much the 517z puts out too I was looking at them from a couple of places in Japan, under $2500 for the full kit and everything you need to bolt it on. Good value. you'll have some fun with that!
  2. I think you'll find it hard selling a whole interior as one piece ? but hmm, anyhow, i'm after just the s1 RHS doortrim.. if u want to separate later.
  3. i can recommend the HKS Super Dragger II system.. low on noise, good on performance for good hp (at least going on my car), and looks nice too..
  4. /slaps chaos to the curb
  5. nah.. cops aren't all bad - speak to them just like a person and a lot of the time they are cool. Its best not to step on the foot of "how you doing mate" though thats a little too friendly to start off with - they don't like that most of the time.
  6. .. I am with you there on that one driftt.. option #4 was I think was badly thought out and likely to do more harm than good. It undermines a lot of what they're trying to do if everybody just goes and clicks "#4" just because its one of the options *not* on the list. Although it may make them think a little as to *why* but I'd say this is maybe dawning on them a little already - the demand is there and supply is not being met by RAWS (yet at least). Whether they care or not is the questionable factor! And I mean the government is quite clear, they want one of 3.. not another one there... BUT in the wording of their submissions document the language at least, seems to be favouring option #2 - which I know I personally am not so fussed about. It brings into line 15 year cars with RAWS for models that are pretty much the same anyhow, stops people brining in the "fear factor" cars en mass such as R32 GTR, most S13, even GTS-T, and in future stops the margin floating towards increasing cars in the future (15 years come 1990, 1991, etc). I can see however that if people have nothing to gain by it going or staying they're not going to put any option down, but that is to be expected. I mean I'm sure whatever is said here is not changes the minds of people who think its a good idea the 15 year rule was scrapped or encourage them to really give a crap
  7. edit: read the rules.... Oy! I DID .. the item had already been SOLD when i posted that.. so pft to you! get a whiteline strut brace new.. they're not much more than this 2nd hand one..
  8. only problem with the gts-t is getting it to the point where it sounds like you're giving a good workout.. is kinda way past the limit rex is good because it redlines pretty low and you always feel like you're going really fast.
  9. The Truth? are you mad??? hehe, but I guess saying "well I was on my way to see whether i could get it to 250km/hr, but looks like you stopped me before I could quite get there" wouldn't have gone down quite so well...
  10. you also forget less number 4 there noof: #4 adjourn, adjourn, and adjourn Well the whole Defectoria revenue scheme turns the everyday public against the police force so you can't expect too much sympathy. hell, even my old man reckons cops are wankers, after having his house broken into about twice and them going "meh, not much we can do".. and yet they pull him over in his camry after driving for 10 years with no probs for going 10km/hr over, now the everyday motorist feels like a criminal for going 3km/hr over the limit. So i don't see how the public is going to respect police or what happens to them in this environment - as they're the public face to all this revenue raising.
  11. something knarly bogus infact.. like totally.. radical man..
  12. if you're doing custom.. you may as well get custom rad ones made up.. I'll buy one then!
  13. Maybe, but you also have to remember we have a population of 18 million, not 250million, not 150million, etc - we are a pretty small market. The more consumers you have the more by virtue choices they want, but we are restricted a little there. So I don't think you can impose "oh but in other countries" on the vehicle industry. Australia is pretty unique, in fact its very strange we DO have in fact have a local manufacturing industry and DO export a few cars overseas. Considering our population, its a pretty good effort. Of course you can say "but what about NZ they have a smaller population and have lots of imports". But you can also look at NZ with no local industry, high unemployment, and other problems. Often having a car trade market that is too open can cause other associated problems. Whether anybody (and i don't particularly) likes locally produced cars, they DO create many tens of thousands of jobs throughout Australia. So well, I can see many sides to the story, and sometimes protectionism (re: restricting what we can import) is good for Australia - but its not an easy issue.
  14. Hey, i'm not actually for them restricting it bro.. I was just saying "some people agree with them changing things" but that is not really me. I was more putting the emphasis on other reasons why people should be doing something about it. Err?? aren't you agreeing with me? I was saying that for MOTORSPORT in melbourne, its much harder for younger people to do because of the restrictive costs. I never said young people didn't have imports or anything like that did I? Or that is was less than VIC? or anything like that! But yeah, I'd agree VIC isn't as friendly up here.. or as good - why you think i moved up here? lol. There is an active car scene in Melb, but its more just hanging around or going on cruises. What I was SAYING was that not many can afford to get on the track. There is about 2 tracks in melbourne and the costs of racing on these are VERY high, and that is where I was saying a lot of the time only older people can afford to do MOTORSPORT. Again I think you slightly miss the point, I wasn't making any judgement or saying anything about young drivers and imports, I was saying that IF in FUTURE another *reason* to do somethign about the changes to the 15 year rules would be if you were interested in getting possibly a 2nd car to get it out on the track. So thinking about not just now, but what you might want access to in the future. Sorry, I had to clear this up.. I think you totally missed my points. Sorry for the misunderstanding! I didn't mix it up that much did I ?
  15. :bahaha:
  16. can't tell shit from a photo.. the game of lottery is yours. I hope you have a fair bit of money in the bank, and the 89 GTR wasn't your last couple of dollars.
  17. True.. if anything needs to be done it should be restricting the alignment to similar vehicles sold here. Nobody really wants to see the 2nd hand market fall to pieces and everybody else *the majority* lose lots of money on their lancers, pajeros, and whatever else. What needs to be done, and maybe that is the whole issue, is aligning the original goals of the 15 year legislation with appropriate changes, that is to allow the rare or quite different "enthusiast" vehicles here. If they wish to do this they could allow ONE or TWO 15 year cars a year PER INDIVIDUAL (which is about the limit you can sell in a year on the local market as a private individual). Bang, no instant mass importantion of 50x 15 year cars by dealers, which is causing the majority of the problems in the first place. With R32 GTS-T, R32 GTR, specifically these models are already here, and already subjected to the market conditions - which includes the new imports system. We are not talking about a natural market system anyhow, these imports were brought into our market at a later stage (bar a whole 100 people who have an aussie delivered R32 GTR out there), and are not subject to "standard" local market conditions anyhow. It seems basically what Merli, 4DoorGTR and many others is saying is "I have a GTR or xx, I don't want to lose money on it". But that is fine for you guys, but what about those before you 5 years ago that brought in a R33 GTR for $100,000?? they wouldn't be too happy either that its now worth $30-$50k, but that is what happens. What makes you any different to them? Somebody quoted "GTR's aren't selling" well maybe that is just because the attraction of owning such an expensive car, and the police harrassment, insurance, and whatever else is becoming a little old. The "fad" is dying, people are buying newer cars more and more than ever before. Everybody wants "new and sporty *looking*", not "old and fast". I think that is the real reason for maybe a decline in peoples demand, and those wanting to pay $50k for a car 10 years old is less and less. p.s. merli: yeah i did 1st year economics and macroeconimcs as well .. but i think you missed the fine print which said "these are ideal and a completely standard market conditions". There is a whole other side to the coin of artificial markets, trade barriers and whatever else which comes with more indepth theories to this basic market model!
  18. Porcshe! What a traitor!! But I guess nissan don't make any "performance" cars anymore thanks to his lovely work, so what else has he got to drive?
  19. pft! mine is like a 30002, one of the first ones. Since then haven't had ONE problem, still working fine chipped and all. Fired up GT3 the other day .. built a nice s13 drift racer.. man that game rocks! gt4.. drools.. then drools some more, then wipes drool and drools a little more.
  20. I know a lot of people are actually against this for various reasons, young guys having access to heavily modified cars at low costs, devalue of their own car (not even valid reason if you ask me)..etc. Trying to get off that a little though... But for those in QLD specifically.. there is a good reason for penning at least something. If anybody has any intentions of getting into amature motorsport in future, either drift, sprint, or whatever else - the end of the 15 year rule will make it damn hard (and expensive) to be able to get into this area in future. Being able to bring in a modified GTS-X, old supra, S13, etc with enough useful mods to be able to get you on the track for under $15k will *be gone* in the not too distant future if this goes through. Seeing as the state offers much more in terms of unrestricted access to this sort of thing, it would be a pity to see that go. Thank yourselves lucky that it *is* so accessible up here in QLD. I know in Victoria where I recently moved up from, amature motorsport is an entirely different thing - mainly only done by middle-aged or older people who have a lot of money to their name.... as they're the only ones who can afford the high costs involved. The "drift" scene in VIC as any organised sport is pretty much not-existant! A large part of that is the cost of initial car, as well I guess restrictive insurance costs, lack of tracks, cost of track hire that are available, etc. So well it would be shame to see that happen up here, as that is one of the many reasons I did in fact move up here. It would be a shitter if that went. Maybe you don't/cant see yourself doing that now, but would like to in future, its worth considering what the longer term impact would be if say you did want a cheap 2nd hand jap car to take out their and thrash around on the weekends in a safe and controlled environment *one day*, and it also being road registered and not having to tow it on a trailer to/from events, etc (and the added costs of that also). Having access to such a car might no longer be affordable. my 2c

    GT wings

:bs!: cop will defect you just because its a wing and it stands out.. doesn't matter whether you think its "soft" or not.. I've heard of people being defected for carbon fibre wings, metal wings, etc. I think for a while cops specifically targetted them on cars, thats why you don't see many people with them on anymore - and plenty just with the mounting brackets where they used to be. Anyhow, don't think they're a good idea because they're just a defect waiting to happen in Defectoria
  22. .. its not actually required.. removing it would be illegal however.
  23. is it any different to them running around in a commodore, falcon or anything else of that age? I mean everybody started doing that at that age. My budget at that age was about $3k .. i couldn't even afford a 15 year import if say i was in that position when i was 18. I think some of you older mob forget what it was like to be 18 and dead broke, but still wanting some nice to drive that maybe has a few options and is slightly differnet to the average shitbox gemini, commodore, or magna, camry, etc. Get off your high horses a little, just because you have skylines and whatever now doesn't mean somebody isn't entitled to drive a cheap silvia or something around. "Devaluing" what a crock of shit, they're only japanese cars, they're gonna depreciate anyhow - they're not some rare 1 of 500 model run! Anyhow, I do see the safety aspect a bit, its dangerous to let 18 year olds drive 400hp cars.. I believe they just should make it pre jan 1st 1989 if they have to do anything.. that stops your precious "devaluing", and means two of the "big evils" to some, the R32 (Gts-T and GTR), 180sx, s13 (well 1988), etc aren't available to young guys fully modifed. These become SEVS imports, subject to all the conditions there. People won't want a 1989 model anyhow if it switches to SEVS, if a 1992 model costs the same as is in better condition.. The difference in pricing between a 15 year and say 1992 SEVS complied car is about $3k - hardly "devaluing" a newer and better condition car!! I simply can't understand that statement to be honest! the 15 year has been around for quite a few years as it stands, its always been there. Things haven't changed, the emphasis has changed, only because the government starting sticking their nose in too much. If you look at things a little, I think to be honest the least reason for the changes is our Nissans, but Mercs, BMW, etc which definitely devalue what is here and dealers that specialise in selling those cars "aussie delivered". Looking at the numbers in the table, Nissan is languishing down the list in terms of "numbers imported" for 15 year cars anyhow.
  24. look i've been in the SZ Supra, it is not a performance car.. its not very quick. I doubt it would give a stock GTS-T a run for its money, and more to the point *what* GTS-T is completely stock, running completely stock boost these days?? Stupid argument..
  25. you can paint the dash using the 2pac and thinners.. you can buy small spray cans which you mix the thinners and 2pac and use that to spray. Its like a pov compressor setup but it comes up nicely.. King Ricer.. er sorry dj_l3thal used this method for his dash.
