  1. yup.. yup..
  2. The main point is if the government hadn't ****ed up the normal SEVS stuff, then there wouldn't be such a demand on the 15 year cars. The solution is simple: revise the SEVS laws to make them slightly more reasonable, more people will go back to SEVS and the 15 year rule won't become so in demand. Even just allowing a simple things as aftermarket wheels, aftermarket gearshifters or exhausts would make a *huge* difference to the practicality of the SEVS laws. Its a very simple solution
  3. errr...mine is fine, and still fine some 6 months later. To be honest, I don't think that guy knows what he is doing!! or using a cheap shitty tint material.
  4. Why do you wanna scrape the crap out of your car? Mine is at the minimum height and looks great, I don't know why you'd want to go much lower. A place will lower it is low as you want generally, but they'll take no responsibility if you get caught by the cops. sweetr33 obviously likes spending $1000 for new tyres each year.. Also watch out for camber problems if you lower it too low on just standard lowered springs and shocks. Some coilovers have built in adjustment for camber to fix the camber probs you might encounter.
  5. lol @ r34gtt-R abo bob for both being a wiseass.. 1 & 2 - There is no paperwork to get the car resprayed or colour changed, so you can just go ahead and do that. 3. if the engine is a DIFFERENT type totally to the old one (say RB26DETT engine off a GTR) then you will need to get it fully engineered which can cost a bit. If its the SAME engine you can just pop it in, however you'll probably want to transfer the engine number to it, so both the plate and the engine number match. Vicroads can probably do that. 4. If the car hasn't been registed or is unregisted .. Vicroads needs to inspect the car before it will be registered again, and they're pretty strict about it (more than a garage) so NO modifications. A RWC is about $70, but that is just the cerficate itself if everything passes. If it don't, you gotta go get it all fixed up. After that you just pay the normal rego (i think) which is $520 or something.
  6. Go post the stock fuel pump on a Silvia board, you'll get $100 for it easy. Its what i got for my old one Many'a silvia/180 owner will want it. Same for the injectors..
  7. its so big its off the chart!
  8. ok, on an actual logical level/lets keep everybody happy who make bucks out there it doesn't make sense.. as you're right, it could hurt the 2nd hand market, provide kids with cars too fast for them at too cheap a price, and possibly pollution although i think that is the very last of the "real" reasons for the changes. What needs to be done is a more stringent control on what cars can actually be brought in, rather than such draconian measures listed. It won't have a huge effect as long as their are controls over what the cars that can be imported, and it should be tightened up. If you can bring in ancient n/a lancers, old 4WD or whatever, or cars that were sold here to some extent it will kill the market BUT for those cars that WEREN'T available here its not gonna make a lick of difference. Its hard to argue that a car with an RB26DETT in a 15 years old car that it wasn't designed for sounds like a scary thought.. but that doesn't mean that me, other people out there, or whoever wouldn't be after them. Ag ! anyhow, i can't think now, I want to write a letter and put my views forward at some point and have a say. Its a losing battle I think, but one that needs to be fought. Even not for this issue, just to give a wider insight in the "owners " and enthusiasts view of the *entire* import issue. 4doorGTR: you mention this on your car, but have you driven any aussie car that is 15 years lately? Not accusing, just asking... A lot of the time the people going "they are rubbish, they're deathtraps" are driving brand new cars or cars less than 10 years old. For those that AREN'T are they any worse than what is available here?? that is the question..
  9. :whackit: ??
  10. lol.. well its probably true none of us like small cars so you're on a difficult argument. when you wake up as "inark in a can" after an accident then maybe you will no longer approve of small cars.
  11. er yeah.. sounds like possibly stuffed vent control. When i pulled it all apart, worked out roughly how it works.. heater is constantly on, (although there maybe some type of control from the engine side via controlling the amount of coolant/heat going to it), basically fan blows through aircon, and there is a flap in the heater box that opens and closes. Depending on the amount of heat or cool to give you xx degrees, the flap is either full open or full closed, or somewhere in between. Therefore it *sounds* like your flap is stuck on full close, just letting aircon through.. It could also indicate a possible electrical fault in the eCU or rest of the wiring somewhere meaning the signal to "start heating" or 'start cooling" is stuffed. Anyhow, have a play and see what you discover.
  12. yeah, the GTI180 is nice.. about the only small car i would ever consider i think.. Fuel consumption though is pretty high: 11.8 ?? Thats only a few less than my R33 seriously! you'd still be better off with the liberty I reckon.. bigger engine, same or better fuel economy, more room, probably better resale value..

    beat me

    /plays dumb whats a road?
  14. Where have you been living? R34 are driving around plenty on the streets, and there are many already in the country. As for EVOVIII not much chance as they're selling them locally for $65k soon and all imported versions have been an absolute ripoff. At least it will settle those prices to more realistic level. For $35k you can bring in a GT-T through a number of importers very soon - so it would be hard to remain competitive, there would be nothing "exclusive" about what he was selling at least. But people would be interested.
  15. B4's are $55k for the "premium" edition with all the leather seats, proper climate control and everything else, or $50k for the non premium. Much prefer that than a buzzy rex, and insurance I'd say would be much kinder. You can do some performance stuff to them as well.
  16. Liberty? Shouldn't be too expensive on the wallet.. 9.1L/100km. Not sure about insurance but its not a hoon car? an older me might even buy one of them myself Premium has all the sexy stuff and its about $45k onroad...
  17. ok, maybe the banana car isn't for you.. how about?
  18. oh..you want new.. how about THIS??
  19. u could just get something old that looks stock that goes like a rocket, cops would never bother you then, nobody would steal it, and you could just get away with 3rd party.
  20. hey.. /me bitchslaps dAVE.. then realises its sadly true and bitchslapps self instead..
  21. But rrrage.. in real life if you were say, a politician and you called someone a "sheep ****ing homosexual" (for instance), and a journalist went and heard that and publicised that its not as if you can go "oh i take that back, i delete it".. and all associated references and articles on that were deleted like u never said it !?- The real world don't work like that! Same if you said you wanted to bone your best friend's girlfriend.. then later you just go 'oh I'll DELETE that i ever said that and it'll be all ok".. world don't work like that.. here should be no difference.
  22. I thought users didn't have the right to delete an entire thread if there were posts in it??They didn't use to anyhow! I think that is the way it should be.. People shouldn't always be able to hide the evidence if people disagree with them or set them straight. I'm fully with JimX - i think that was a very important thread and some important advice and comments in there and some different perspectives. While there were some negatives, it also shows there isn't room in here for people like that and keeps a lot of the wanna be dickheads off here, and hopefully off buying a skyline. There was a lot of abuse in there, but quite rightly so.. and also some wise words from all sides of the fence i think. It was one of the best threads on SAU for a long time I thought!
  23. HKS make some damn good exhausts, in fact most of the japanese systems are pretty good - and the aussie ones that can be fabbed up lack a lot of the refinement. I think one of the reasons my car runs so smoothly is simply because of a nice exhaust setup. yeah.. definitely whatsisname! Ok...this is a whole different type of car, but same concepts apply. My brothers car is an old XF which i was driving around for a few weeks while my skyline was in the shop. It was basically making hardly *any* power, and would struggle up hills, or basically under any attempt at accelerating fast. Basically we thought the rings or something had gone and the engine was on its death bed. Somebody recommend we should change the cat, we did and TOTALLY different car. Power came right back again, and actually went pretty hard for an old 250c.u. 4.1L. So basically the totally clogged cat was killing the backpressure and starving the whole engine of any power. Lifespan of a cat is 10 years or so, so probably about now the old factory cat is starting to get restrictive on a skyline, if it hasn't been changed.
  24. server problem so can't upload pics.. fuggin crapper.. tomorrow or something I'll upload the ones to go with the last post..
  25. Heater Unit and core removal ===================== 1. Pop bonnet and remove coolant hoses to heater (see how to bypass heater core guide here: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...ead.php?t=31403 for pics) 2. Disconnect plugs to climate control relays (circled green in this photo: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/at...achmentid=10464). Should be 3 of them. 3. Slide back bottom plastic duct that goes to rear seats from the bottom front of the heater unit 4. Gradually wriggle out the entire heater box. This isn't too easy, and it doesn't seem like it will come out.. but it will if all nuts and bolts are correct disconneted. You'll have to angle it to pop the core inlet/outlet from the firewall first, then start lifting it out at an angle. As long as the support bar is far enough back, you should be able to lift the entire thing out. You may have to pull the aircon box to the left a bit also. 5. Stare at wonder at what has been causing you so much trouble (2nd photo), and see how it all works at the same time The heater core is the small radiator type thing at the back. It can be removed from the box by removing the screw shown. 6. To replace, visit your local wrecker, or track down a new one. If a wrecker, they'll probably make you buy the entire box to get the core - but as the cores CAN be different widths and the surrounding box CAN be a different shape. You're probably looking at $100-$200 for the entire box (+core) 2nd hand. Its up to you whether you want to take the risk of a 2nd hand, or find a new one somewhere. Final Words ======== Once the box is out, you *can* believe it or not drive around fine like that, as long as you bolt the support strut, etc back into place (1st pic) AND plumb up the coolant hoses. Whack back on the steering wheel, and you can drive around. Its so cool, feels like a go-kart! But seeing as you'll have no vital items like a petrol guage, temperature guage, or speedo - best not too do anything to zany
