I think its a bit unfair to take it out on bouncers in general.. but i think most of us would have had bad experiences with bouncers in our lives, which tends to sours everybody's perceptions if you've had the shit kicked out of you, or watched your mates get the shit kicked out of them for little to no reason. Hopefully if anything comes out of this, it will be tighter regulation and getting rid of the grunts from the industry. Sadly its the only way things get done in this country. But Hooksie R.I.P

SERIOUS NEWS -- 15 Year Rule WILL CHANGE ON 1 JAN 2005
predator replied to dAVE's topic in General Automotive Discussion
I guess it comes down to whether you think old cars are pieces of junk and should be off our roads, or whether you believe that new cars are a waste of money and don't have anything an old car does anyhow. So that comes down to the crux of it. Really it is the governments *own* fault for coming in with regulations as restrictive as SEVS, I mean of course people are going to still want to bring the highly modified cars and therefore the massive jump in numbers. What did they think was going to happen? To me though, I'm not really too fussed. If they bring it in 2005, that leaves plenty of time for myself and others who might be considering 15 year cars to bring in a car or two. The demand unfortunately could be a little high - and I can already see the dealers trying to stock up with as many 15 year cars as possible (if they think they are going to be popular sellers), just like under SEVS. It also makes the next year a bit of a pain in the ass, and Japan tries to offload a bunch of stuffed cars (amongst a few good ones) to australia, as they know it might be the last opportunity to. As for people protecting the "value" of their current cars I think that is a little narrow minded, but of course people are always wanting to look after themselves now aren't they? -
yeah, i don't know how you can tell just by looking at some low quality web pictures.. and there is no evidence to suggest that. Anyhow, i think enough has been said on this. Nice car!! good price too for all that also.

Sequential shifter converter - Interested???
predator replied to supahiro27's topic in General Automotive Discussion
hence why they're used for going in a straight line in a drag car, and not really that suited to a street car. -
actually they're a step below cops, as they're the ones that can't even get into the police force or any other meaningful security job. So most of the time its the only way they can feel they are anything important in the world other than some knob who looks at your licence and decides whether you get into some shitty club that u prolly don't wanna go in anyhow!

I Smashed My Gtr Real Bad.

exactly.. young people do dumb shit, i did dumb shit, my friends did some dumb shit, hell i still do dumb shit sometimes, and for the most part of the people I *do* know they're lucky and are walking around today. But there are plenty out there that aren't so lucky, and you don't want to be one of them. Do you realise Mines how close you were to being seriously paralysed or suffering brain damage? Drinking out of a straw for the rest of you're life, maybe not being able to even string a sentence together? (hang on a sec... ) Can you even comprehend that and what life would be like if that happened to you.. Being one of those "retards" you laugh at in the street, coz i am sure you are the type that probably would. Not everybody who is like that was born that way you know. Well its true I wanted a fast/sporty car for a while ... but i knew that insurance, experience, and above all my bank balance couldn't take it at that age (and don't draw the friggin jealousy card, its not it), and thats what everybody told me, even though i did think they were largely full of sheet at the time. Most of the time I *do* care what happens to p-platers, and it pisses me off a lot of the time it appears cops are purely out to make life hell for them.. but its incidents like this that just bring it home for a lot of people, even those that are more moderate about what people should and shouldn't be able to do in life.. and *above all* I probably know personally about 4 people on this forum who have made some SERIOUS **** ups in a skyline on p-plates and written off (or nearly written off) their cars. They're not dickheads either, and the power of the car and some inexperience was probably the key, so it can happen to anybody. -
Tragic! well i just hope justice is done and the person responsible truly pays for his crimes. No bouncer has the right to hit somebody in subduing them, no matter what the circumstances. So whether he was mostly injured in the punch, or the fall matters little. Bouncers are the worst shit on the face of this earth (well them and lawyers), so it doesn't really surprise me, but so fugged up!

shheet.. no good at all! The look, and the rims would make it hard not to spot I would think. Hopefully it turns up mate! with times like that as well, its not as if its just another common R33 either, wonder whether they knew that or not? Where was it stolen? as in front of house, shopping centre, etc? Just might be important so that others also don't make the same mistake of leaving their car in a similar place.

nissan wants more? damn, i don't think these little ****ers how much it actually costs to fit another of these badges.. Badging a commodore or falcon costs hardly anything and they're easily to find another, but a skyline it costs a fair whack, and it looks crap without them unfortunately.

And its not just the insurance companies, but even worse, the cops, government, even our own families sometimes! -

This is a good thread for its backs and forwards and different perspectives. Also seems to be gradually migrating into interestingly "under 25" vs "over 25", which is ironic in a way. I remember when I was on my p's i was like many of the attitudes expressed "i am a good driver, i can drive a fast car if i want to".. but now it seems those who are older DO realise that experience does help, and everybody having their near misses over the years realises that sometimes having more power on tap never helps the situations. I would be pissed off about it, bitch and winge.. but in the end wouldn't have a choice now would I?, and that would be the end of it. I'd just have to wait until I reached that magical age or whatever. Patience sometimes breeds responsibility, in more ways than just the obvious. Little difference, and everybody knows you can almost double the power of a gts-t without spending too much.. If they are doing that, there should be a blanket ban "No p plater is allowed to drive these cars: x, x,x, x, x, x". Its not hard to enforce at all, you drive a powerful car and the cops catch you, you get fined. I mean unofficially its been that way for years in Victoria, it just has gradually "reverted" in this era of turbo charged cars. I remember when i first started driving, there were cars that i could simply *not* register and drive.. such a 308 commodore, 250 Cortina. I mean they're nothing now, but back then they were what a fast skyline is today and desireable. Lots of people wanted them, but not many could afford them, or wanted to get pulled over. It was a known fact, and not many people got around, people just did without. I mean, f*ck is it THAT hard to drive a slower car for 3 years?? does a p-plater HAVE to have a really fast car for the first few years of driving? i mean think of the money you save for a start! You need *something* to look forward to after drving for a few years.. i think its a worthy goal to try and encourage drivers to remain accident (and to an extend penalty) free I don't know why the restrictions have been relaxed, but they clearly have. -
Very thought provoking article with some interesting figures in there.. In fact, one of the most intelligent I've read for a while on the issue. http://theage.com.au/articles/2004/01/18/1...4360633943.html As the measures were phased in, starting with a Transport Accident Commission "Wipe off 5" advertising campaign in August 2001, then with follow-up enforcement, the effect was instant. In the 1999-2000 financial year, 574,000 speeding fines were issued. Two years later, as the measures began, it was 907,000 fines, according to Justice Department figures. To the year to June last year, it jumped to 1,307,000 infringement notices, an unprecedented number in a state with 3.5 million registered vehicles. another provoking statistic: But serious injuries from road accidents are actually increasing - in the year to September 2003, there were 6658 serious injuries in Victoria, more than 4500 of them in Melbourne. That was fewer than the year before, but more than there were in the bad old days of 2000-01 when there were 6550 serious injuries, defined as those needing hospital treatment.

Would be good to see something different come out from BMT... would be good publicity. A crazy ceffy would gather some attention.. seeing more and more of them around.

$49 a piece? I got them through justjap as well, but I'm sure i didn't pay $49 each? maybe they have gone up? The other place apparently is Nissan - as they are the same that go on the S15 "GT-spec" model.
-
Don't park in the city EVER if u value your skyline badging. There are regular culprits going around. Mine got badged their once, and it cost me about $70 to replace the GT badges with new ones. They stole my 'S' too, but i didn't want it anyhow, lol.. but still.

A "whole" 7,000km, man you must know everything by now about driving one of the world's fastest road cars! Hmm, here is food for thought: Would you *trust* a pilot with "a few months flying experience" to fly you and 200 other passengers on a jet plane from Sydney to London? Would you *trust* a bloke who has "fired off a few rounds" to shoot a tin can off your hand from 20metres? Would you *trust* a bus driver who had "a few days driving a truck" driving you around at high speed? Would you trust an oil tanker operator who had driven "a few tinnies" into Sydney Harbour? Would you *trust* a cop to save your life if held hostage by some crazy gunman? Would you *trust* a lifesaver who "knew how to swim" from saving you drowning at a beach? Would you *trust* a skydiver who was taking you for a tandem jump who said "oh, i've had 10 jumps by myself, its ok, i can take you safely from 10,000feet" What makes you think driving a highly powerful sportscar is any different to any of the above situations? All of them take years of experience to properly master and lessen the odds of something bad happening. Sure you might survive, but the risks are greater than an experienced person in the same situation. -

Rear End Half Cut For R33 GTR ?
predator replied to MINES_DATSUN's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Attempting to repair that car is insanity. Get it out of your mind right away, its gone, dead, kaput, fakarch. Sell it for parts and you may get $15k all up, and thank yourself lucky you may get that much. -
hmmm.. I have slotted/drilled rotors and newish brake pads. I have noticed it quite a bit, that as they heat up braking performance is definitely reduced. I guess that is just part of driving any form of performance car, but it definitely is something to be careful of and always take into account. While I have similar power figures, and also I don't have much trouble stopping from 100->0 in about 30m or so - when warmed up, the performance is greatly reduced, maybe up to 50m. A couple of times this has come to my attention taking a corner too hard, or stopping from a hard sprint to rest - when you expect one braking distance, and what happens is another. Luckily it has been safe each time, but due to the nature, it never is too constant.

That was the other day? but anyhow, HAPPY BIRTHDAY YOU CRAZY MAN!! Hope the next year brings some excitement to you with the Rex...just keep it all in one piece and the license at the same time!
