Japanese Cars With Euro Style Number Plates!111!one

Still the ADR rule says visible at 45 degrees from 20 meters. -
Hmmm.. Reading through this. A lot of whingeing, not much solution. Look at this way.. its 2006.. digital cam the events you want to see in your own form in a co-ordinated fashion, compress it to 300meg, commentate it as necessary.. Bittorrent the result for practically free. All could be achieved and co-ordinated around the country at very very low cost. A revenue model could even be generated around some advertising throughout, or placement through an accompanying blog/upcoming/commentary website. The whole underlying tech structure is not difficult, databases, fancy looking website, dynamic update system can all be built -- somebody just has to get out there and capture it. Which level of motorsport is of course up to whoever would be keen. Thing is the networks are so far behind the times it is time for the people that really want to watch something different to go out there and produce it themselves. The technology has long been here and is quite matured. TV died about 2 years ago, they just don't realise it. Anybody with half a brain these days won't put up with the networks f**king around delaying tv episodes from the States, delaying sporting broadcasts, and for stretching every last dollar from the TV audience, and/or advertisers. Most have watched them a few hours after they have aired o/s, downloading time at DVD quality only a few minutes more than the actual show itself. I don't think I have watched a TV series "in the raw" (i.e. broadcast) for 12 months now, just because I'm sick of being dictated to in an interactive world.

Ideal Rules For A Modern Racing Series.
predator replied to GTRgeoff's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
I wonder if it will be ever possible to crack a formula for the newer vehicles, to create a more spectator friendly event, which has a bit of groundswell support, and potential for advertising / tv coverage? I think the younger generation is possibly losing interest in the v8's and a newer generation might welcome something different? or is that my imagination? if holden is left stranded if GM goes up the crapper, maybe the environment will change for motorsport.. who knows. -
Danger To Manifold! Eclipse! 111!
predator replied to predator's topic in General Automotive Discussion
The manual is a laugh too... In the following cases, the indications of this unit are different from the actual value: - Speedometer, accelerometer and horse-power meter do not work properly when the vehicle is wheel-spinning. - Tiltmeter does not work properly when the vehicle is accelerating with the wheel-spinning. - Lateral accelerometer does not work properly while the vehicle is donut-turning or power-sliding. -
http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pna/prod...2089326,00.html scary stuff Measure More of Your Car's Performance. The AVG-VDP1 is Pioneer's Solution for Performance-Minded Automobile Enthusiasts. Most new vehicles come equipped with an in-dash speedometer and tachometer, but are they enough? ( ) The Pioneer AVG-VDP1 Vehicle Dynamics Processor takes car performance analytics to the next level. The unit detects a wide range of real-time vehicle performance data — including acceleration, lateral G-forces, estimated horsepower, and torque, in addition to speed and RPM. Additionally, the GPS locator provides current vector information, as well as current location by longitude, latitude, altitude, and distance to destination. The unit displays the results on a connected Pioneer Audio/Video monitor — with smart, full-color graphics that add style to the dashboard.

a t-wing is illegal but a 2tonne 4WD with next to no pedestrian protection isn't gotta love how things are.

I Think I Need An Upgrade?
predator replied to hijaked's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
yup.. r32 gtr brakes will make SFA difference as they are the same specs.. Only the condition of them would make any difference. Also the rears on the R32/R33/R34 turbos and R32 GTR are exactly the same specs for setup, disc size, caliper. Again, only age would play the difference. The DBA catalogue is a great reference for the different specs on the Nissan range to see any differences. -
Common R32 Dashboard Bubble
predator replied to r32line's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
lol.. I think the chances of it working well are pretty low when I've thought about doing it. I think the real solution is if it bothers you, taking the whole dash out, taking it to a trimmer, and paying the $300 or whatever it will cost to get it retrimmed in a similar look. These cars are getting old, pretty much just a wear and tear like any old car experiences. -
Why do you run the passenger seat? Just a restriction for the class you run in or is there some other reason? Great to see the setup though.. While the engine is obviously quite a monster, the rest seems achieveable even with a moderate budget by the more amateur racer. Everybody just seems to go straight for the GTR by default..

great result to get a finish! 8th is pretty damn good considering some of the other cars it sounds like. Who was in the team for interest?

Twin plate will kill it very quickly I reckon. Anything with too much bite on it, will destroy the box pretty quickly as it sends the vibration right through the box. I specifically chose my clutch type to give a longer span to my rb20 box until i can afford the 25 box when changing to manual. Seems to be holding up ok at mild power levels anyhow.

R33 Gtst Auto Box (jatco Re4ro1a) Review?
predator replied to b1ancardi's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
its ...ok. I ran it at the track a couple of times foot to the floor and it survived. It's not so good at cornering fast, as it decides to drop the revs right when you need them...pronounced especially on the rb20. -
Thoughts On Injector Brands - Just Personal Pref?
predator replied to ned's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I've heard a few times that some have a different spray pattern and some should be avoided due to this (especially the nismos).. or is that just bullshit? -
Sure it's not the shifter mechanism itself? That would explain the box change not fixing the problem. Or a problem with the shift computer? Have you swapped in a spare transmission computer to check? To me it could be a heat related if you drove it for a long time and it got worse. Unless possibly the computer adapts its shift mechanism based on the engine oil pressure ? (but I don't believe it does). The computer also goes off pressure and temp sensors on the auto as well. Auto thrust bearing? Don't you meant the spigot bush? That is what goes in the back of the crank, and the auto shaft goes into.

hmm.. never helped Ended up using a n/c 12v relay .. If anybody is having problems, refer to this... All is sweet now. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...howtopic=117731 Maybe it's just because my manual loom was cut on the gearbox, and it contains an inbuilt relay or something in the loom a bit further up? Anyhow, I don't care why really now.. just that it is now working as it should. My reverse sensor (back of gearbox) basically just had two wires coming out of it.. a green, and green/orange stripey.

Ended up solving via N/C 12v relay (normally closed) from Jaycar for $6 as above. Wiring was as follows.. red from plug (12v) to pin 30 of relay. Pin 30 also to gearbox sensor.. From gearbox sensor 'output' (maybe its not an output but like the 2nd wire from the reverse sensor at gearbox end) to pin 85 of relay White/green stripey from plug side to relay 87a Relay pin 86 grounded to chasis or other suitable ground point. Basically now works as - reverse switch is 'closed' on all other gears, this gives 12v to pin 85, which is grounded to pin 86 to 'trigger' pin 30 and 87a to be 'open' (no connection - i.e. no reverse lights, etc). So its usually open. On selecting reverse, reverse switch goes open, this removes 12v connection to pin 85. This sends the plug side to be 'closed' (connecting red and white/green stripey at pins 30 and 87a respectively) and therefore reverse lights, etc I even get the nifty reverse light on my dash to light up, beat that on a factory manual http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?I...eMax=&SUBCATID=
