we all know ash likes to stir a fight.. but then again he's not one for getting his pretty hands dirty

Got a pair of nankang tyres.. 215/55R17. Tyres are in good condition with about 90-95% tread... apparently only done a few thousand km. These won't fit the front on an R32 due to the profile (will fit rears), but should fit anything else.. Chuck on the back for some tyre destroying fun, drifting, etc. SOLD - I'm on goldcoast

It's just a parallel system.. Which means you need to tap into both.. i.e. two into the one SAFC knock wire. There is either knock in cylinders 1-3 and/or cylinders 4-6 .. therefore there is "knock" in at least one cylinder. That's all that you need to, and the SAFC II needs to know. They are wired into the block at front and back, as obviously its more accurate that way to measure both the front and the back separately. I'm a little unsure why the ECU (which has the two inputs as separate pins) really needs to know exactly which cylinders (front/back) are knocking, but maybe it does a little injector and spark reduction to protect 1-3 or 4-6 at any one time, along with it's standard timing reduction.

Question About Improving Traction...
predator replied to makaveli's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Roy is talking you up to R comp tyres which are great, but not really suitable for the street.. due to the wear, and also when cold not really suitable for driving around (as they get safe grip only when warmed up). Sounds like you need a mix (much like me), at a price not too much out of this world.. even though tyres single most important thing on the car, yada, yada. Mark: You could buy a separate set of cheap rear rims with expensive tyres for the rear just for drag or track.. then again what is suitable for drag isn't suitable for track .. You can never win! -
Shopping for a new set of tyres for the front in 225/45R17 size.. On a bit of a budget, so max is about $230 each unfortunately. Guy at Jax recommended the BF Goodrich G-force Sport @ around $210 each. Said they were a pretty much the best street tyre he had used for the price, and on his v8 ute was hard to break traction (yeah, I know, but he didn't seem like a complete meat-head) The alternative is the Kuhmo Ecsta which are a fair bit cheaper.. meant to have less sidewall flex at temp. He said probably would be a bit better for some mild track work. So anyhow, are either of these going to be acceptable, or a very bad choice on a budget? I was set on the Hankook K104's as only hear the best for the price. but nowhere has them till about a week or so (maybe if lucky), and I really need something like next couple of days. Just looking for fronts at the moment.. Its an R32 gts-t so at some point would like to spend the extra on the rears.. or some dedicated R comp tyres for the track. Any opinions would be great...keeping in mind I don't have $300+ at the moment for fronts... and my car isn't driveable till I get something other than the stupid 215/55's I've got on there that dont even clear the control arm

mountainrunner is organising on his next track day.. driver training out at QR for an extra fee in adition to standard laps if you want them. Give him a PM..

yup.. thats the inside air temp sensor.. that's the main one. p.s. if anybody has a spare one off a halfcut or whatever, I need one
-
I don't think the ambient air temp does too much.... it just tells you how high the temp is *outside* the car, and maybe does a small correction.. Proper way to test it all is.. put key in ignition position.. within 10 seconds, hold down the "off" button for 5 seconds.. will go into testing mode.. Press "up" (the arrow) 5 times i think it is (or is it 4).. this goes into the temp sensor area (it will display the temperature of each sensor in turn - there is about 4). Press AMB to view the temp each one is reading in turn. If you've got an abnormal or -30deg in any of them the sensor is bung. There are other tests you can do when in the testing mode, but I think think the above will be most useful in this situation

Question About Improving Traction...
predator replied to makaveli's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
problem is 18" tyres will always cost a fortune, and then for the good tyres.. ouch.. $2k for a set. 17's on 32 will save you a lot of hassles and a crap-load of money. So you have to weigh up looks vs performance.. -
they are a bit slack at times, but seems you had a little sooky.. the parts are probably on their way so I don't see how you're entitled to a refund.
-
I'll make an appearance.. never know.. r32 might come out to say hello if i think it's reliable enough.. otherwise will just bring the daily.

4stud Gts-t's
predator replied to blackprincegts's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
but the r33 gts4 doesn't have a turbo.. little japanese guy one day go "have turbo, fit 5 stud.. no turbo, fit 4 stud" and this is the way it became.. -
Rb25 Turbo And Cam Gear Results
predator replied to WazR32GTSt's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
i want to see the dyno graph is it laggy? i know mine so slow up to around 4000..then it was all on.. drag strip son.. -
congrats.. hope all goes well
-
yeah, grille is for prettiness factor.. that nismo fifuser thing as well I've wondered about, but i think that has some tiny benefits as well in directing things down. but on the 'acid-rain-marks-in-the-engine-bay o-meter' I noticed the GTR bonnet definitely allows that extra bit of airflow into the engine bay, and across the top of the radiator
-
do you have a GTR grille and bonnet yet Roy? while you may scoff at the idea of a non-slanty bonnet, it's for a valid reason on the GTR's.. and of course that 10kg that you actually save on the bonnet vs a possible couple of kg on a radiator..
-
.. not sure on that.. my auto radiator isn't that thick.. although it could be a s2 r32 thing maybe..
-
Basically after.. the first metal and rubber surround (that sits ontop of the trans tunnel), and also the final inner piece that sits on the upper plastic (with a gearshift boot). From either a GTS-T, GTS, or GTR

4stud Gts-t's
predator replied to blackprincegts's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
i agree with the above.. only ca18i.. no 4 stud turbo models.. if its 4 stud the engine may have well been converted. -
It's not available readily.. simple as that.. I have wiring diagrams for R32 complete (GTST and GTR), rb25 engine side, and most other things I can find over the years and none of them includes r33 dash.. Somebody may have it somewhere, but it will be from Nissan or the like and printed out, and obtained through nissan japan most likely.
-
even the stock rb20det radiator is very light without water in it.. I'd estimate about 3kg. It's not something where weight saving is going to be an issue. just make sure you don't use heavy water in there or its all over
