  1. I was thinking.. what another one? Congratulations Bek and Jase.. best of luck with everything and the future!
  2. lay low.. wait to the commonwealth games are on.. and take over the suburbs whilst the cops are busy free run... Wouldn't suprise me its a move to scare people off before the commonwealth games. They did that sort of thing in Sydney as well when those games were on.
  3. No, its not enough to notice a change in the oil for weeks/months.. but its just a bit messy. Mines been like that for 12 months.. was like that ever since it came into the country.
  4. I got some other one.. "Diesel Kikki" brand (japan!).. from a 1989 model. 92600 01U00.. I've got some other one in there (think its a hitachi) now.. different part number but seemed to bolt up all fine? Haven't actually used it yet though..
  5. or rain can easily get washed over the engine if you have a small gap in the bonnet.. or even one dusty road.. or just dust in the air generally.. big risk to be taking if you've obviously spent some money on the engine setup..
  6. location dude -- you could be anywhere in australia?
  7. pointless.. they've clearly already made their mind up of what they want to do in that paper .. even though nearly all of those points have been trialed in 2+ states for 10+ years with no difference. the "community consultation" is merely so they don't get whinged at for not consulting anybody. They couldn't really give two shits what the young people think as they are not the ones screaming "oh my all these young people are dying". Who is actually saying that? Its 40+ year olds, and they are those who run this country, and they're the ones making the decisions ...
  8. Looks like they totally missed the point yet again.. I don't really see the point -- as no doubt they'll implement nearly all of those to be seen to be doing something, whether they are a good idea or not, simply as some Government commitee has drafted the paper... and in 2-3 years they'll be wondering why it has not made any change whatsoever. Most of those things have been implemented in NSW and VIC for nearly a decade, and the road toll has hardly gone down noticeably in those states for younger drivers per population, etc in proportion to QLD. How about making licenses more difficult to get by having a multistage testing process, and totally revising the testing process to include things like skid pan training, braking, collision avoidance, etc?? So that people can actually become better drivers?
  9. stop wasting people's time.. Its on ebay and you're waiting for a price to see if you will sell it whole... then coming back to sell it off for parts if you didn't Shouldn't you wait till your ebay auction is finished first before selling the parts?
  10. Its pretty impossible to sell a complete rb20 these days.. not too much demand. good luck with the conversion
  11. Removed tonight exactly as described. Thanks for the help guys. The bolts came off a bit easier than I thought with only the crank to stop it freespinning..but they came off quite easily in the end. And yes, the new engine and gearbox will get get bolted up together and shimmied in as one to make the whole process of putting it in easier (I hope)
  12. As suggested.. It could just be the sump pan bolts. I've tightened them on another car, and thats been enough to fix the leak. They often work loose over time. If you're unfortunate, its the rear main seal, which means the whole gearbox (and flywheel) has to be taken off to replace the seal. It seems to a common problem in older RB engines. My rb20 has had the same problem for quite a while.
  13. doing auto -> manual + rb25 conversion. . Just easier to get the motor out with gearbox off.. This stupid thing is in the way now..
  14. Ok, well pulled out the slush box today.. Got the box out, which was entertainment in itself.. but only problem now is getting this torque converter out. I thought it just slid out, but it doesn't seem to be the case. It appears to be welded to the flywheel type thing.. Is that factory, or some jap dodginess? and more importantly, how the hell else do I pull it off? I've tried levering it off, but not entirely sure that is the right way, and doesn't seem to be working anyhow.. So.. how do I get this sucker out??
  15. do you mean the whole thermostat assembly? D.or.A ? Are these the same rb30/rb20/rb25 ?
  16. ok, this is not really a *proper* answer.. but pay a visit to repco, and ask for a VL clutch cylinder.. compare it to your stock one. Usually they are pretty happy to do that. And their prices usually aren't terrible. Otherwise off to a more specialist brake/clutch place. I also have a feeling they are similar, as Nissan doesn't seem to have changed much they haven't had to across r32/r33.. and even a few parts further back.
  17. a crap load of blowby.. caused by old piston rings letting oil to slip through the cylinders do you get irregular idle or things such as that? Running a bit of boost?
  18. suspect? he got any actual timeslips? Whenever I've seen an STI at the strip I haven't been overly impressed.. i.e. a $60k AWD car + $10k worth of mods.. still doing high 12's..
  19. From what I've seen, the prices out in SA seem to be a fair bit less for this sort of thing (and well lots of other performance work) than the eastern states... Could have something to do with it..
  20. Tuna144 is on the ball.. i don't see the obsession with the GCG turbos for price/performance when they are nearly $2k.. when several full kits are available with all that is required for possibly only a few hundred more all said and done. your only real advantage to a highflow RB25 option is the stealth aspect in the nazi states..
  21. lol.. of course they can do a shitty job and keep running a business. Welcome to the real world. I remember them from back in the day.. They were pretty much slap jobs if you wanted to sell an old shitter, or to hide the rust.. Don't even consider it for a skyline! For $600 you're not going to be happy with the result - and thats a guarantee.
  22. not bad shane.. so the last clutch must have been slipping like a mofo??
  23. Wouldn't the puff of smoke tend to indicate the indicator switch is stuffed or shorted???.. its in your steering column... Pull it out (it pulls out), and buy another one. If it is stuffed the indicators wouldn't work.. From what I remember you'll have to take off the whole steering wheel to get in there. Actually.. its probably just a short.. Only one way to fix that one. You been playing with a boss kit lately?
  24. you won't be caught.. at worst you'll be sent to the EPA and have to put the stocker back in before you go..
  25. If the loom is the same as the r32 one (quite possible as its the same RE4R01 gearbox).. I may be able to help in a week..
