RB engines I don't think flex nearly as much, and probably has something to do with the greater strength of the engine mounts and chasis in the skylines.. Haven't seen any aftermarket ones for RB's.. only CA/SR's..

How Many Skylines Are Daily Drivers?
predator replied to nare's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
lol.. sounds like boring I redline mine fairly regularly from stand-still, and just drive it as I like to, and i get around 11-14L/100km. I'm running an RB25 turbo on my RB20 with 16psi of boost too. Amazing really when you think thats really only the same as any other 6cylinder out there, and of course the skyline has a fair bit more power and fun. I think people are all too used to 4cylinders now. -
It seems quite odd the the major request for track events, when Paul has been running them very well for the last 12 months or so... and anybody on here has always been able to get involved by simply sending a simple PM or email to him. It's pretty much an 'unofficial' SAU track day anyhow. A lot of people seem to be hesitant because of the requirement of having to go mid-week, but unless you want to pay a hell of a lot more money, and like Paul has said the scarcity of available days open on a weekend -- weekday is the only choice. These are why you have holidays people!! It's only one day. And even if you have to take it off unpaid, just do it. Half a day on the race track is pretty much one of the best ways to spend your time if you like adrenaline, and it seems insane that you'd rather be at work than racing around on a track at 100-200km/hr constantly. It's one of the biggest rushes you can do. No cops, no speed limits, no dickheads -- just fun, and some light competition of comparing your time slips to other cars. The total cost of the day ends up being about $200 when you factor in about $80 petrol (there/track/back).. and $120 for the hire.. That's not much every couple of months.

They are the same dump pipe.. you will have no problems.

Found this quite interesting.. Its basically LEM, or a Linear Electromagnetic Motors. As it indicates, it uses 4 small motors to much more finely tune the movement of each wheel over the road surface compared to a strut and coil setup. Was developed by Dr Bose, of course same guy famous for his compact sound systems. http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Featu...rticleId=103183 Wonder when we will start seeing it in production ? Pft, who needs 'coil overs' when you can have LEM

Best And Cheapest Place To Lower Car
predator replied to nuffsaid's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
i run a leaf spring setup in mine.. coilovers are old technology -
I'd disagree.. for a stock autogearbox it takes nearly a large power increase over stock before failing -- which is stronger than most other autos you will ever find in any other car with the exception of maybe the Toyota imports. I've had no troubles with mine, and I'm not too kind to it.

R32 Gtr Disk Upgrade Ideas ?
predator replied to whitesky's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
For the rears: R32 GTR, R33 GTST & R34 GTT discs are all the same diameter, and thickness. The only difference is the R33 GTR rears which are only 3mm bigger diam, and 4mm thicker. I guess its the added 4mm thickness that makes a big difference. For the rears whitesky I have a feeling you could get by with just swapping the discs for the thicker ones? -
How Many Skylines Are Daily Drivers?
predator replied to nare's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
It's a car.. designed to be driven daily, so drive it daily. If you can't afford to drive it daily / scared to... maybe you shouldn't own it? Best thing about my r32, it's a bit rough around the edges in places, but drives smoothly, got a fair bit of power now, and I can park it anywhere and it doesn't really raise too much attention. And if I blow something up, I'll just replace it, as nothing is too much more expensive than any other car really -- just can be sometimes a bit harder to track down. And if i get a scratch or small dent, its 'oh well, thats just another reason for that respray in a year or two', which would make it like new again. To me, that's the way it should be.. -
Rb25 Wastegate Actuator Valve On2 Rb20
predator replied to blackprincegts's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
rb25 actuator is 7psi! run the stock one to direct to your piping.. that's what you get. -
geebuz.. you must be the slowest driver in SEQ..

particular workshop also likes selling expensive gear to customers... which no doubt they make tidy markups on.

dyno day!! it would all be relative so if all the same cars go on in the same time.. on same conditions it wouldn't matter. Dyno if its in shootout mode will have temp correction on anyhow. great way to check if your tune is "safe" during the summer month

I think a sunday cruise to somewhere in the country could be a goer soon.. followed by a bbq lunch in a park or something. Was thinking a cruise to Warwick ? 2 hour drive I think from goldcoast area, not bad area.. then back.. Some nice roads to there. My vote is kind of for "all the above". A purely skyline track day I'd be keen on, but a lot of people are a bit scared to get their car out there on the track it seems (hey if its going to break its going to break eventually ). I think this was attempted before by Paul, but not too much interest to make it worthwhile

hmmm, I'd still almost wait 3 years for it...

Help! Bolting Flywheel Onto Rb25t.
predator replied to DRFT 14's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Like Steve is saying, its pretty standard that dowel (going on my s1 rb25 engine, and flywheel sitting around), and also would add to the stability of the flywheel being locked into place. I wouldn't go sawing it off, I'd make sure you had the right flywheel. 95% positive rb20 and rb25 flywheels are the same (they are always listed as the same part numbers), but I *think* there may be some rb20 flywheels out there that don't fit the rb25 ...for whatever reason(?) -
I am running a highflow rb25 turbo on an rb20 with 16psi of boost with really only an SAFC for 'tuning' control, also with a nismo FPR.. and it was tuned quite successfully for 12.5:1 across the range on the dyno without any funny dips. Make sure you get the FPR checked out on the dyno with a professional gauge.. my nismo one was about 10psi off the stock pressure :-s True, its not an R34 (which I believe has more protection, self-control), and more power would be had with an aftermarket ecu, but yes, it can be done for a while.

i like the r32 fair bit ahead of the r33 these days, in terms of driving.. and how it feels to me in terms of handling.. But the interior of them is pretty dated now. With the R32 it never really feels like the end is going to let go, and you are always fully in control. With the r33 its a bit less predictable to me, and can be a handful on tap, easy to lose. This could have a lot to do with the 2.5L giving more torque down low than the 2L . Only way I'll be able to determine that is when I've got the same engine in my R32 and compare the chasis differences with the same drivetrain I've had an r33 for 2 years, had my r32 for one year. Just handling wise, I can do a lot more than the R33, without requiring quite the same outright power. But to be honest, unless you are going to be driving like a madman all the time, just get an R33. There are also 50 threads on this topic
