I found a good cheap boost controller for $22!!!
predator replied to CEF11E's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
mines fine at 16psi (1.2bar).. if you nail the throttle down. Soon as you take it off even a touch, it can quickly taper off I've noticed. Seemed to be holding boost pretty much the whole way down the 1/4 mile the other night - fairly impressive. If its not holding boost, pull it up and shake it, then adjust a smidgen to where you had it set. May have been co-incidence, but that seemed to fix a problem it had on mine. -
How do you guys afford such nice cars?!
predator replied to Jaxe's topic in General Automotive Discussion
You need more than $35k to be able to afford a house as well.. but generally if you have a partner and all the rest.. who at least is earning some decent money, thats a 50% split of everything.. and its stable over time. That can be close to $80k a year. Generally I reckon these days if you and your partner earn around $40k a year you'll be fairly comfortable and be able to afford a 'mid spec' type car such as an R34 gtt, GTR or something around $20-30k without having to make massive sacrifices. That's often only $150 a year over 4 years or something. Most people just get personal loans, they are freely given these days. Just have a job for even just a few months, and no big credit card debt or anything and they'll give you up to $20k pretty damn easy. Paid off a previous loan, have a bit of money in the bank, it's even easier. Most of my friends around my age (late 20's) can afford a 300k house, 1 decent car, and a semi-decent one for the 2nd car with both partners earning from $30-40k a year. But they're all couples. -
Can I bash somebody over the head with a stick instead? I think Chaos should be a new mod.. with 100% attendence on SAU. Actually on closer consideration I think nismoboy would make a prime mod.

yeah, did look like you could do with some tyres or something on the launch as it was struggling for grip.. kick you into a 10 i reckon.. My best time of the night was 14.65 .. with a crappy 2.79 60'. RB20 + auto is a shitty combo, its just got absolutely zero go off the line.. Once it gets going it pulls pretty hard but its all in that 60'. Tried everything but just no success. Oh well, rb20 go bye bye soon. Got a heap of runs which was good... I think 9 in the end.. Good to see a few of us sau'ers out there and meet up before hand. Even think I met strutto alive! (either that or some other freak who came up to me with motocycle leathers )

how long you prepared to wait? I have a good one in my R32 at the moment, with excellent compression and has been stock most of its life with an auto, until last 6 months when I've modified it slightly. Is coming out end of January.

yeah, hear the same.. f**kers who try and start that bullshit up here should be locked up. For once I hope the cops bash the shit out of anybody even attempting it.

see what I noticed is that clarkson doesn't really "review" the car, he just points out silly things or tries to make something out of the small issues he might find with a stupid pommy joke. Like "this porsche has a small problem, the gear knob just fell off". I mean that looked so staged it wasn't funny, and even if it wasn't - who's to say it wasn't thrashed the pants off by the last moto journalist to get their hands on it... All seems a bit silly.

RMA imports? they are there.. prices can be a bit expensive, and sometimes they will try and sell you rubbish. If you want cheap prices, you'll need to venture north.

If its raining, or looks like its going to rain I'm out.. as per above. ok, well there doesn't seem to be massive interest for Redbank, I'll try and be at the Mobil at 5:30pm to say hello to whoever is there, and let down my tyres. Look out for a black stock looking r32 with an SAU sticker on the 1/4 window haha, not much.. Will see whether my times make a mockery of my dyno reading ...or not

Wtd For Swap: Rb25det Std Plenum For Front Facing
predator replied to predator's topic in Wanted to Buy
sorry - maybe I mis-intrupted, but it sounded like you were saying it would cause problems and I was intentionally selling something that would give people grief. Which is not my intention. I apologise. As per Teamzn is saying above, I have seen a few people use them with good results. Teamazn -- will discuss over PM. -
Buying 2nd Hand Calipers
predator replied to AlexCim's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Depends on how much you are paying.. If you are buying them for just "Brembo" and still paying a massive price that they go for, then you should probably price a few other options for a brand new race-brake setup - you might be surprised. -
Was very crappy. His comments were very lame, and overall fustrating. Had to turn it over. English humour can be a bit grating at times, and this was the worst of it. Not enough sunlight up there me-thinks.

lol - chaos one is so random, and I love the industrial setting.. perfect!

velcro could even be enough, true.. yeah, not a good idea.. anyhow, I have worked out what I'm going to do.. Buy some rears, use my old 2 channel I have had sitting there for 2 years doing nothing. I've built a basic replacement wheel well cover using MDF. Will just make a new one a bit larger (mmm, jigsaw) more in the size of the carpet shape, and screw both my amps to that... Then use a couple of _| brackets to screw into that, and hold the sub in place at two diagonals. To remove, I simply lift up the sub and over the brackets (and hopefully I won't be getting the car airborn too often ). This method the carpet will be held in place by the amp screwed to the MDF below. I can also run the cabling a bit later under the carpet, and do a few small holes for it the cables to pop up near the amps, subs, etc so its not spagetti city.

Anyone Fixed This Window Seal On Their R32?
predator replied to pentae's topic in General Maintenance
um, if you look super carefully, that part is on the *inside* of the car.. so will not prevent the scratches on the outside. To fix the outside from getting scratched (or more), remove your mirrors, remove the inside card, and there is a screw at the end of the weather strip. Slide that out and apply some felt (I used carpet) to the old padding using superglue. -
Its in the boot with your fuel pump bracket.
-
I've owned an R32 and R33, and believe the piping is pretty much the same -- but couldn't guarantee it. Anyhow, the buyer should just buy it and try it. If it doesn't fit, then he can sell it to another r33 owner. It's not really your problem to be honest to find out whether the part will suit the buyer's car, or setup, etc as long as you are not intentionally misleading them.

Where do people want to meet? I can't leave work until 4pm, so earliest can get there would be 5:30pm.. Not sure if anybody else is coming from the goldcoast, could meet up at coomera? Anybody else who wants to meet up, want to meet at say Redbank Plaza (just off Ipwich Motorway) at 5:30 ? Or alternatively, maybe just the Mobil just before Willowbank just to have a quick meet and greet before go in?

newkleer - download some of the chip reprogramming tools if you haven't already, and have a bit of a look through. There is a universal "K" constant as part of the ECU, which can be used to apply more or less fueling across the board and is used to adjust for say larger injectors. One of the programs (I forget which) can automatically do it all for you, just depending on the injectors CC's you enter. Also refer here... http://www.boostcruising.com/silvia/eprom.asp

might want to read my guide on my site: http://www.project32.net/tutorials.php It's not a T4, but you might find some useful tips and pointers if you get stuck. Removing the turbo process will be the same.

It's a straight swap, but to be honest I am not sure whether it would offer any major benefits for you ben.. unless you just didn't want to reroute over the engine. This is what the final result can look like.
