Great day.. thanks again Paul for organising it all! Times were pretty slow, but good learning experience. Least it was cheap on the tyres.. Think that kitty litter is going to take a few weeks to fully shake out of my car though (late brake woops)

see if you sold all the crap, you could actually finish one project there...

There is a lot of info on the net.. try 'rb20det programming' or 'rb20det roms'. There is a good site: www.tangentrix.com/forums/ but it seems to be down at the moment (hopefully not permanently) You basically solder off the factory EPROM, which is basic to do if you can solder, then you solder in a chip holder in place. Then you can plug in whatever chip you'd like. A basic eprom programmer device is about $70, and that is all you really need. EPROMS are about $5 each .. To write the EPROM data (modify the factory tuning), there are quite a few editors out there... romeditor, zcontrol, livedit, etc I will be investigating it soon... mainly to boot off the factory speed limiter, and boost cut..

at low boost with a larger turbo you might get away with higher than where the standard turbo would top out.
-
yup.. with black mesh.. it will actually look tougher than the boring old grille.. I have got that on my 32.. gives the car a different look to your standard gtr grille..
-
have you tried buffing it out with C& P ?

SAFC S1 Blue screen
predator replied to lows_13's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
its sitting in my car.. because its SOLD -
Sounds a bit weird.. Sure the owner hasn't cut an extra hole at the bottom of the airbox or something like this for extra flow? I've done that to mine, and it makes a fair induction noise.

Probably interested in set of springs for R32 GTS-T. How long are you going to hold open the group by for?? Are you able to share the spring rates with what you are getting? or are these the standard whiteline spring rates?

Can I Use Ca18det Inj As Cheap Upgrade
predator replied to 1400r's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
like anything.. diy.. and save the bucks... or get correct impedence ones and pay somebody else to fit.. if you are on a budget you could also investigate rx7 injectors most workshops would probably tell you are "wasting your time" by getting them to install such small injectors.. they'd be right, if you pay them to do it. but if you did it yourself, the cost would be minimal. you will need your ecu remapped to accept them anyhow.. thats a $50 job if u know how to do it yourself.. but all the pros that do it will charge you $200+ if you are lucky you may be able to just SAFC it, but that may be quite problematic. Either way, its probably close to a $1000 operation.. Now these CA18DET injectors u can get nice and cheaply.. -
Unfortunately.. you could see that car on the road for about $12k in 12 months time.. with a $2000 respray and new rear bar, and few other dodgy areas fixed.. and somebody would still be making a profit at the end of the day. If its a 1989, and it has import approval, all it has to meet is a basic engineering, and roadworthy test. Although some engineers may knock it back because if it is involved in an accident, then their licence may be at risk. The rust could quickly be covered in about 2 hours by any amateur.. enough to meet a RWC ( hell i've done it on cheap run arounds myself)
-
what bobjones said.. you get what you pay for. many places are fine for a budget job.. but some of the final product may have a bit to be desired.

They're talking GTR's here.. they had a comparison in the latest speed magazine too of the different GTR's..but that didn't seem that fair to me as all were in different states of tunes.

Can't Upload Pics
predator replied to cul202's topic in Site discussion - including Ideas/Feedback & Bugs
cant post in gallery.. could last week. -
rolla.. u want something a) cheap B) parts cheap c) doesn't use much petrol d) ..not.. too slow .. thats probably most of them. .and as there are so many around you can beat a good price, or take your pic of which one you are after.. Rather than looking for the 3 or 4 turbo "cool hatches" or whatever in the state at any one time which may or may not be trouble. i've heard of a few that have bought daily hynundais or whatever else and its cost heaps as they just aren't as reliable.. spoils the point of a cheap car..

How To Tell If Bushes Are Stuffed?
predator replied to eXc's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
yup.. they're all shagged by that stage.. every single one, and japs don't replace them. I have got a few replaced, but its an expensive job to get them all done at once. Castor rod bushes in mine improved some large steering shake and general steering response.. rear hicas ends improved rear end stability.. front control arm bushes seemed to have improved steering feel through there and general feel.. Still got quite a few to go though. eXc.. just as an indicator, if you got them ALL replaced at the same time, you'd probably looking at *around* the $2000 mark (including labour). You will save by getting them all done at once in the long run. But that is a lot of money to spend at one time I agree, but if u want to keep your car for a while, and really wind the power up it will help you out and guy scratching his head thinking "why is this guy's car so fast?".. its the small things often that make a difference. But depends what you're into.. maybe if its just for drift bushes aren't as important as say track work or other events (but i don't know much about drift) -

I don't believe the CA's are 370 from what i remember.. I think they are around the same as rb20det. Maybe you are getting them confused with the later sr20 ones which are side feed 440 i think. -
atmo BOV should work fine on auto.. I ran a blitz for a little while and had no probs.

Wtf Is It With Business' These Days?
predator replied to monkeykplunk's topic in General Automotive Discussion
I agree wholeheartedly monkeyplonk, and have had the same experience with most online retailers (even non-online performance shops). Thats not really good enough. I have worked in retail before, and despite getting the same things over and over, you simply reply to all queries as soon as possible. If it doesn't, the shit hits the fan and you soon lose your job. If you just went to a customer face to face when asked a silly question (even if you had been asked 50 times before) "dunno mate" in any decent department store, you wouldn't be too happy... and probably wouldn't bother buying from that establishment. Why should an online business be any different? After all, customer service is YOUR JOB when dealing with the public. If you don't like doing the responsibilities of a customer facing industry, pay somebody else to do it, or move into a different industry where you don't have to talk to people!
