  1. Rampage exhaust (Jacobsen crs Holden Hill) arnt bad
  2. The strokers will be reliable - they are being built with new forged components with extra attention on radii with 20% more bearing area and other critical operations. If you build/tune your turbo engine right u shouldnt destroy them....Obviously. You keep blowing standard engines i assume?
  3. The reason i have developed an RB34: Im an engine reconditioner so all the machining etc i do, is to my standard and it doesnt cost me anything. I am building 2 of these RB34's the other one will be a large single turbo (GT3540) and more than likely have full boost by 3000 RPM. But if you dont understand ross80 then.... You obviously have some interest in a NA 6?
  4. Gday mate, I have made an adaptor for the RB25 using a 3" slap of aluminum. I milled it out on a manual mill. (time consuming!!!) I used the GTR plenum as a bolt hole template as there are 3 throttle gaskets. Im in the process of making an adaptor for the RB20. This time i have just cut the standard RB20 manifold and will weld a plate to it then drill/tap and match port etc. Much easier.
  5. The crank is a customised standard item, the rods are custom h beams but the pistons are off the shelf .040" OS (87mm) with a 22mm pin. I will post up some more pix of the crank when its done. Ive taken all the casting dags off the webs of the crank, but now rust has formed on it from sitting around too long. I might bore out an rb30 block soon, see what size bore i can sleeve it to aswell. RB36 maybe???
  6. Here are some pix of the RB34 stroker: The crank still needs the main journals ground, then final balance, shotpeen, nitride, and give it a good polish and clean. Any comments or questions appreciated. Chris
  7. Piston to bore clearence and ring gap is fine. This is for an engine at work. (im an engine reconditioner) Not sure what oil was used, its a customers engine. I will ask him though. The bores were wet with oil. Just seems a few people have said the standard arias rings are crap and was looking for simmilar cases etc.
  8. I have built a GTR engine recently using arias pistons and the rings supplied. The engine has only covered 800ks and is using oil excessively. All the rings seem to be leaking to some extent. Anyone else care to share any problems with these rings?
  9. I am welding/re drilling the water galleries. The main reason i am using the RB20 head is the small chamber volume. I will be using LPG injection, so thats why i want the compression ratio so high.
  10. I have offset ground the standard rb30 crank. The rod journals are quite small now (as you can imagine with that stroke increase!) but the radi in the corner has been trippled, so the strength will be fine. Standard rb30 block (.040" oversize), forged rods and pistons. I am using an rb20 head (for the small combustion chamber) radicaly modified inlet ports and simmilar sized valves as the gtr.
  11. I am building (and have been for quite some time...) a stroker RB. compression 13:1 3.4litre capacity gtr throttle bodies custom titanium oversize valves Am looking at putting out around 350 - 400 HP does that count?
  12. 6th of December i transfered $150 for an RB20 head + manifold and postage etc. No tracking number was provided.
  13. I transfered $150 into this guys bank account months ago and havent received anything.
  14. I only heat the heads around 80-90 celcius when pressure testing. The only time i pressure test hot is if the customer has a water prob and we cant find it and/or the head has been welded etc. Why dont you keep an eye on the temps and watch for any changes? Make sure you tell us some details.
  15. Using your (probe?) placed somewhere on the cylinder head casting will give you a fair idea on whats happening. I dont think water injection is used to cool down the cylinder head as much as cooling the intake charge. I see cyl heads on an almost daily basis that have overheated and have gone soft. (i usualy ditch the head any where under 65 brinell) Good idea to have an alarm at a certain temperature!
  16. Any one got any stuffed RB20 heads lying around? Sorry to hijack your thread mate, goodluck.
  17. Have you measured your guide clearence? RB26 max EX guide clearence is something like .004" (will feel quite loose with valve in guide) Factory guides are cast iron and prone to cracking, I change guides in brand new heads for bronze guides in BIG HP GTRs. Klines are definately not an option. I have seen a few bent sodium filled valves (RB26 and others) none actually broken.... yet.
  18. Tighten the studs with the allen key until they bottom out, then back them off slightly. No offence mate, but do you think it would of been a good idea to get a pro to build this engine? Good luck anyway! Glad you did get those pistons eventually.
