  1. hmm... Big thread to read, lots of long posts. I dont pretend to know much but one thing that interests me is that people say when the throttle body is closed the turbo is faced with huge pressure trying to push through it. The air thats forced backwards against the turbo can be no greater then the pressure that the turbo has created. ie, 12 pounds of boost means, with the throttle body closed, there is no more then 12 pound of boost in the piping between the turbo and the throttle body (doesnt sound drangerous to me at all and no different from when the throttle body is open). so, for no BOV to be detremental to turbo life, I would assume that it is because of one major factor. The turbo is always driven from the exhaust gases. I assume the bearings, shaft, impeller etc are all designed only for this one directional loading. When you close the throttle body, you have a lack of exhaust gas pressure and a relatively high intake pressure acting backwards on the impeller. Perhaps this causes some kind of weird unbalance? /end rant
  2. Yes but how bad, i mean, surely with the mods he has, cracking a 13 with a slipping clutch is pretty awesome wouldnt you think? maybe too awesome? As in your case, I thought a slipping clutch would have a very significant negative affect...
  3. Hey guys I went out the other week and ran a 13.624 @ 102.975 mph with a 60ft of 2.098 I have a pod, a 3 inch turbo back exhaust and a turbosmart bleed valve. I think im running quite good times considering my mods. How do you know your clutch is slipping?

  8. how much would postage be to 4680?
  9. hey guys. I have repeatedly used 10w-40 penzoil in my car but I can no longer source it. I live in tropical queensland, and because I have absolutely no idea about oils, im wondering what I should now put in it. After reading through here, many people seem to be using 5w-30, 10w-60 etc. Is it ok to change to this? Ive always looked for a 10w-40 blend as someone mentioned it was what nissan recommended for there motors after a couple of years. I give my car a bit sometimes, and I always allow for proper warm-up. So with this in mind, Can anyone recommend a decent mobil or castrol etc alternative to the penzoil I used to use? Should I Just for out the money for motul 300V 10w-40? Thanks for your help.
  10. interested if u can post a pic of an r33?
  11. Hey mate, I have a decent set of 3 piece 16 inchs dressed with some cheap tyres (firestones) and im pretty confident they handle better then my new 18's. I recently purchased a set of 18x8.5 and 18x9.5 rims for me car dressed in Nankang 235/40 and 265/35 on the rear. These tyres are horrible. The only thing i like about them is they seem to be a little more predictable then the 16's. My main issue with them is stopping power in the wet... mine lock up quite easily. By the way, mines a gtst not a gtr didnt see that bit.
  12. love em all.... but 2 and 6 tak the cake for me! 2 because of the racing 32 and 6 because it looks great and is simplest. both of these look real flash!
  13. is there anyway to display the ambient in an r33??
  14. So youve unhooked it and it still reads 3 psi? clearly its faulty. or somehow the needle has rotated on it? but you say that it still reads relatively close to what it should be while driving. so i doubt thats it. most mechanical boost gauges are a bordon tube arrangement. once they become stressed (isn't hard to do) or old, they become inacurate and don't return to zero. get rid of it.
  15. What do you mean, where is the "electronic ignition"??? Alls you will most likely need is your tacho output and power...
  16. yes, thats what i also think. one side of the spark plug is grounded through the head. so the primary side of the coil would have its 12v inputs which are switched. and the output (secondary side) would be on the electrode and the block? that makes sense to me.... anyone else? Which means to measure the coil, you simply disconnect the plug and measure the primary winding?....
  17. trex101... you seem to know your oil... do you recommend motul 4100 turbolight 10w 40?
  18. hmmm... doing this kind of stuff at work (not car related however), id be more inclined to remove the coil and check that way. the nissan workshop manual will have correct resistances for testing coils, yours do sound about right but...
  19. I once had no cat. adding a standard one again is like getting some pliers and crimping the end of your exhaust flat. feels like a huge restriction. as craved said, you wont look back after a high flow cat
  20. cheers, just sourced one from kudos motorsport! hope they havnt stopped making them.

  22. hmmm.... What is the difference between a "BCPR6ES" and the "BKR6E-11"? other then the gap difference, they are both copper plugs with the same heat range correct? I bought the BKR6E-11's after i found my local shop didnt have the normal plugs in stock.... however, the BKR6E's have the same number as the iridium plugs without the prefix, and were listend under the performance column. can anyone shed light on the diferences?
  23. hey mate. I consistently get this noise if my oil level is running low. Cold mornings amplify the problem. I would double check that oil, and if it isnt near the high, top it up. cheers!
  24. hey mate. I had exactly the same thing happen. The are 2 weird bolts holding everything on so You will need some security bits to get the airbag off and pull everything apart. i found my horn part had actually broken and was just dangling round inside the wheel. it wasnt really fixable. Just disconnect that battery. Good luck!
  25. Yes I had already searched there... and they claim its a discontinued item and there price is set at $4,700... no joke...
