I looked at the pump this weekend. It turns out that it is f'd because I did the tensioner up too tight which put pressure on the shaft and destroyed the front bearing. My bad.

Hi all, Here is an update - the conversion did not go too well. 1. The Bolt on the top bracket of the BR30 pump needs to be backed up with 10 mm of washers or something else so that the barcket will clear the back of the cam cover. 2. The inlet into the pump fouls on the top of the A/C compressor. 3. The inlet to the pump is smaller that the inlet to the RB20 pump which means that the existing hose from the resevoir needs to be replaced / changed. 4. The pulleys are not interchangeable as the RB20 pulley fouls everywhere on the RB30 pump - these are not inetrchangeable. It has been suggested that the 3 ribbed RB30 belt will work on the 4 ribbed RB20 harmonic balance - I think that this works. All-in-all this was a failed converstion. I don't understand how others have done this since it did not work for me for the reasons above. Thanks.

Is the oxygen sensor the unit attatched to the dump pipe? I clean the AFM with carby cleaner right?

Hi, I would like to install a power steering pump from an RB30 (Aussie model Skyline / VL) onto my RB20DET. I understand that I will need to change the pulley type due to the amount of grooves differing from model to model, but is that it? Is the offset the same between the two pumps, that is, do the pulleys end up in the same place Does the RB30 bracket bolt straight up to the RB20 block? Does the top hose fit directly? Do the inlets feature the same thread? Any help would be great!

Hi, I went ahead and removed the rear vane from my R32 GTSt steering pump. When you open it up at the back the van looks like a small steel wheel with a number of slots cut out of it where a number of little steel squares slot in. I removed this whole component but have later been told (by SSS at Girraween) that I should have removed the little sqaures and re-installed the wheel. My pump is f'd at the moment. I assume because I did not re-install the wheel (maybe the tension on the belt was too high?) - don't know. I want to take this opportunity to install a single chamber pump - has anyone installed an RB30 pump? Is it a straight fit besides swapping the pulley over? I think I heard that I need to put some washers between the bracket of the pump and the block of the engine to space it out because of the twin-cam head. Is this the case (it doesn't sound right to me). Thanks.

Hi, I broke my water temp sensor the other day on my R32 RB20. It is the sensor on the piece where the top radiator hose joins the engine. It was yellow. I bought another sensor which I am told is from a later model Skyline. It is red. Does anyone know if these are intergangeable? Thanks.

Hi, R32 GTS4(t) I have been having this problem for a short while now. After driving for a while (usually quite hard or in warmer weather) my car develops a mis-type problem. At say 3000 rpm in fourth gear (a little low I know), I will but my foot down on the accelerator and nothing will happen - the car kind of splurts about but no power. It feels a little like when you blow an intercooler hose. After a few moments the car will return to normal and after a few longer moments begin to splurt again. If I turn the car off (say at the lights) and start it back up again it seems to work OK. I have a boost and fuel pressure guage which both read pretty normally when this happens so I don't think it is a fuel pump / wiring / delivery issue. I noticed today (which I have not noticed before) that my exhaust temp warning light came on? Does that help? I had a quick search around and it seems that no-one has described anything like this. I need help!

Hi, have you got any pics of "Front lip spoiler - Black. Hooks onto the bottom of the stock front bar. I never used it, I got it with the car."

Bit silly seeing as XJ40 was going to give you $80 for it.

The inlet pipe fits straight up. The elbow on the outlet is different. The compressor houses are two different sizes and the RB20 elbow won't bolt up.

Don't know why the pics don't work.
