Here are the pics of what I did for an elbow. It looks pretty uuuugly! R31 Koop do you have a picture of the elbow you used? Does the silicon hose you use change the pipe diameter or do you have another piece to do that? Regarding the fitting, I didn't need to make any changes. Mine has the ball bearing centre though - R31 Koop do you know what yours is?

Hey, I did the job over a year ago. Everything fitted up very easily (banjos included) except for the fact that the VG30 does not have an elbow from the outlet (instead it has the small straight adapter thing). The RB20 elbow is too small to bolt onto the VG30 (I am not sure about the RB25 which is slightly larger) so you need to get an elbow made by an exhaust place or something. This is quite an easy job. If you find out if an RB25 elbow fits or not I would be very interested to find out. Thanks.

I would imagine that a PFC would be the best, being very flexible and something that many people are into and know how to tune, however $1,250 is alot of money considering that most people want an intercooler, turbo, susp etc. at the same time. In my mind a chip for <$200 is a good idea for a. an interim measure till you have the cash for a PFC or b. someone who has their car pretty much set up with very few changes to be made. From a one off tune perspective there would be no difference between a PFC and a tuned chip, just that the PFC facilitates tweaking day-to-day and reduces the cost of having all-out retunes done over and over. For a budget excercise I would (and have) used a tune chip to get a reasonable base tune removing speed, mass air flow and fuel cust and used a SAFC (old version and would like to get an old SITC) to make on-the-fly adjustments for fuel or weather or what-ever. I would imagine that most people with a PFC don't make that many changes day to day (on in many cases year to year) either. What are your thoughts? Anyone with a PFC find themselves making myriads of changes?

Mr Ed 32, I'm glad to hear that it went well. For the future, anyone who might be interested in this type of thing shoudl PM me. If people need this sort of stuff for about $50. Flukey, for the one I have on hand now you will need to wait until I sort inissane out. Sorry man. Also guys, my favourite piece of kit ever is the old 5-pot SAFC. These cost around $100 and work very well in sorting out day-to-day issues from air temp or running 95 octane vs. 98 etc.Yay Apexi.

inissane, where are you at? I am at Petersham. I have one chip left, you can come around and try it out. If it works it is yours. My number is 0401 896 663. Thanks.

My RB20DET is getting a little tired at 180,000km. I have an R32 GTS4 and am considering an engine swap. It has been suggested to me that I need to use an engine from a 4WD car as the sumps are different (obviously). I am curious though if I can swap the engines from the sump up, that is, can I use an RB20DET or RB25DET from a RWD car using the orginal sump?

Oh I see. Q: do you strike it with the chisel from the top or from the front?
-
I wish it did just slide off - but it seems to be very stuck. I am lead to believe that this is a relatively common problem, but maybe we are just doing it wrong. What are the steps you use to get it to slide off?

Does anyone have the number of a mobile re-coil / helicoil guy? Preferably one tha works weekends? Thanks.

This seems a little too easy (I am very excited about this now!) Are there any other details that you can think of to remove some issues that may come up?

I am talking about the crank oil seal (we are on the same page). How do I prise the seal out (with a knife or something). To put it back in do I simply need to press it in the same way it came out? Sorry, for the additional questions but it is better to ask someone who knows that try to figure it out myself!

Do you mean like this? Chiselling_the_crank_gear.bmp

Have you done it? Do I use an angle grinder or shoudl I use a chisel. I am a little concerned about damaging my crank or the oil pump using option b. How have you done it? Thanks.

Hi, I have a blown crank seal on my 4WD Skyline (R32 GTS4). I have been told that I will need to remove the pump do replace the seal and that the pump has a large bolt on the bottom of it which stops it from sliding of the crank with-out removing the sump. This sounds like a MASSIVE job. I have been quoted around $1000 to have it done for me. Has anyone done this at home? Was it as bad as it sounds? Any help would be good. Alternatively, Advan at Silverwater tell me that they simply slide the seal out of the oil pump while it is still on the crank. Does this sound unreasonable? It would certainly save A LOT of hassle if it is possible. Your thoughts?

Hi, I am having som difficulty removing my crank gear. It seems to be on there VERY tightly. I can't seem to get pulleys in behind it becaise it is a. very close to the block and b. blocked by the half-circle below the gear which I guess protects it from rocks etc. Two methods have been suggested to me to remove it. These are to a. tap holes into the gear and use a pulley to yank it off and b. break it off. I have to admit that I am leaning towards option B as a new crank gear is only $50 and it seems like a few less steps. I would like to know how well people have gone with this? Any help would be fantasic! Thanks, Ben.

Hi RB30-POWER, how do you go about splitting / cutting the timing gear off with-out f'ing the crank and pump? Do you use an angle grinder or a chisel or what? This has been quite a pain for me! The reason I want it off is to change the front seal on my 4WD RB20. I am told that I will not be able to get the pump off due to the bolt not clearing the sump. Advan (Silverwater) tell me that they slide the seal out with-out taking the pump out, then slide the new seal in. Does that sound fair to you? Any healp would be GREEEEAAAAT!

I guess it should do OK. How much $$ are you thinking?

Stock R32 Gtr Exhaust System!
armbrusb replied to pentae's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
I am interested in the cat back exhaust to 2148 in Sydney. I have no idea what the postage would be - would you be prepared to post? What would be a ballpark price? -
Hi, I am after an exhaust for an R32 GTR. I would like a stainless steel cat back exhaust with a silencer (so I can clear a defect currently on my car). Alternatively I would consider purchasing a stock GTR or GTS4 cat back to clear the defect. Thanks.

Wrecking Rb20det+stock Ca18det Parts
armbrusb replied to shaunr32's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Hi, I am after a RB20DET airbox and AFM to 2148 (or pick up in Sydney). Do you have these? Ben, 0401 896 663 -
Hi, I would like to turn my intake back to stock. I have reasonably new K & N pod. I have cut the flange off my AFM that normally attaches to the airbox so the conbined units take up less space than it would I I were using an adapter. I would like to swap this for a stock AFM and airbox (R32 GTSt). Thanks, Ben. 0401 896 663.

I am happy to pay $50 to 2148 if anyone is interested.
