  1. Cheers thank you for that, I hate that feeling of hearing a thousand different versions of a story by people less in the know.. ok that cements it for me. appreciated. My microtech died so I'm going to have to purchase wiring loom, 2 airflow meters + plugs, then get it installed and tuned. To keep cost down as this aint going to be cheap.. do I have to fork out $300 each for Z32 AFM's or can I use the RB20/RB25 AFM's? Are there any blatant advantages?
  2. Looking for a loom, if anyone can help let me know cheers Mike
  3. Could someone shed some light for me in regards to aftermarket engine management systems that use a MAP sensor Vs an Air Flow meter!? Drivability for both? What power are you limited to if running air flow meters? Any other peculiarities or problems etc? I was recently running a Microtech MTX-12 sequential direct fire and that used a MAP sensor.. despite having the car tuned twice by different garages of good repute the drivability in terms of starting the car and low idle were not that good – other than that it was fine and made good power. I was told that this was due to manifold vaccum pressures and the map sensor needing to get it's sh*t together on start up.. hence it would stall a lot and need multiple starts. It's driving me up the wall.. if anyone could help, that would be mostly appreciated. Thanks
  4. 7heaven - cheers I'd love to save the cash.. though my understanding was that Z32 air flow meters allow a higher resolution electrical output than the RB20/25 AFM, am I wrong in thinking this.. are these items just as good?
  5. 7heaven - well I'd love to save the cash.. though my understanding was that Z32 allow a higher resolution electrical output than the RB20/25 AFM, am I wrong in thinking this.. are these item just as good if not better?
  6. Cheers I appreciate that Pawley.. though because I don't have a standard loom fitted I can't use just at the moment.. never the less perhaps I could borrow rent from you once fitted to give me a few weeks to save for the Power FC, though does the R33 GTR ECU retro fit and operate a R32 GTR?
  7. A few days ago my car died.. FarK! ended out being that the Microtech computer (MTX-8) was fried because of some dodgy wiring and one of the battery terminals arcing to something. I really didn't like the Microtech anyway as it always had trouble starting (like 3/4 separate attempts to get started with a constant idle - oh and it was tuned properly) and although once on boost and high in the rev range it made a lot of power and pulled hard it's drivability off peak was not that good. I was told that this was because the Microtech used a MAP sensor and it was a pig to start etc due to the vacuum pressures in the inlet manifold. Anyway.. here I am now forced to save up and fork out a whole bunch of cash, which straight after Christmas kind of sucks. I have been told that if I go to a Power FC that I'll basically be able to reach through the window turn the key and the car will start perfectly and that drivability will be far superior. Sounds good.. the only thing is that I will need to purchase an original r32 wiring loom and two Z32 airflow meters which in the end of the day = $$$ Question: Do I bite the bullet and go the Power FC or is there any MAP sensor ECU's that actually retain some sort of drivability, without spending a fortune on a Motec! Thoughts, information would be appreciated as this has really stung me and I'd like to not be ripped off and just get the car back on the road asap
  8. Hi, I have an OS Giken twin plate clutch, and when it takes up it makes a wierd 'bed spring' noise - like a wire straining. The clutch is definately not slipping.. does anyone know what this is or how to fix it it!?
  9. Pulsar GTiR Stock Blow Off Valve
  10. I have a OS Giken twin plate clutch, recently the friction point has moved so basically it only engages when the clutch pedal is almost fully out. Is this a sign of it being on it's way out? - even though I don't think it's slipping that much!
  11. Count me in. 32 GTR. Will they except American Express?. I have a visa if any trouble it just works out better for me though
  12. Hey, as I would imagine, a lot of you guys would enjoy motoring DVD's / videos. Well I have purchased quite a few and since I am quite literally addicted to them.. was wondering if anyone would consider swapping with one of mine for a night. Especially the earlier version Best Motoring DVD's as they don't stock them in shops anymore. PM if interested.
  13. Just wondering how much, if any, black smoke you guys get when taking off and boosting? I always let my engine warm up with a couple minutes of driving before pulling her reins a little.. and I've just had a service done a couple of weeks ago and a compression test for that matter, though I have noticed some black smoke (a decent amount, though not billowing) in my rear view mirror when I give it a bit of stick. I'd imagine that naturally a whole bunch of gases would be being produced under those conditions, yet I'm not sure whether a little cloud of black smoke is the norm.
  14. Cheers Guys, Yep I've read that article too a while ago, just wondering where the sensor unit was to try it out.. will give it a crack soon, thanks :cooldance
  15. Hey guys, could someone post a pick of where the Lateral G sensor is in a R32 gtr/gts4.. Wouldn't mind rotating it and seeing if it improves handling as much as people say. Cheers
  16. it's jut a bit of an odd one... I swear I think even so, coins of any size would not be held in there long - weird
  17. Something always boggled me when I used to have my R33.. that was, what the hell was that little scoopy ledge thing on the right side of the drivers dash!? Now, one could think it was for coins perhaps.. though surely not.. as they’d fly out the first corner you hit or under boost for that matter. Anyone actually know?
  18. where is the lateral g sensor Chris? - wouldn't mind trying that.
  19. Not to get off topic.. but considering the price ranges of both the R33 GTR and the Supra ZR.. it would be interesting to see where a RX7 s6-s8 would sit as an alternative.. or at least v. close competitor to the soop?
  20. where and how did they block you off? was it for hooning? or just a defect farse!
  21. Since *quite* a few of the Aust. Public are tainted by the idea that performance is based upon and proportional to how many litres an engine has.. perhaps one day much like AMD has done with naming it’s CPU’s virtual speed instead of clock cycles.. the Holden Astra Sri turbo will be rebadged 4L instead of its actual capacity of 2L (since loosely – a standard turbo can be translated into doubling the capacity of the engine). I wouldn’t put it past Holden.. nor the public snapping them up unawares, considering the mount of Camery ‘sports’ I see on the street
  22. Hmm.. strange problem occured with my 32.. on few occaisons recently, I've turned the car off (keys out of the ignition) and the engine still runs for a few seconds then dies out! - This is after normal driving conditions, I have an alarm, NO turbo timer.
  23. Could someone let me know whats the diameter of the standard r32 gtr steering wheel.. cheers
  24. Cheers, Though if I fit the standard blow off valves back on (as my car is WAY too loud now) I've heard about issue's with them leaking. I'm currently running 1bar, and would like at some stage to run a tad more.. can you effectly prevent them from leaking when raising boost or even running what I am now?
  25. I've recently aquired a R32 gtr, it's running a microtech MTX-12 ECU.. I've heard mixed opions from people about the computer. Is it worth upgrading to a PowerFC at any stage? Or is that going backwards?
