I had encountered both of your problems. 1 - get a mechanic to scan the codes, or get a cable to scan it yourself. If the lights come back after reset very often it means something is wrong, could be the seat belt pretensioner, sensors, ecu, airbag modules themselves, you won't know until you read the codes... There is a way to diagnose without the cable, read: http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/G35/Coupe/2003/srs.pdf but it's just too much hassle. 2 - V35 zenki (early models) have a design failure and the stereo dash will fry itself almost certainly after so many years. Get an OEM double din dash, an aftermarket stereo unit, a radio cable adaptor, and enjoy. You don't have to buy new OEM units, they are expensive af. Use Japanese yahoo auction and look for early V35 / M35 double din dash. Remember you will also need the aircon controller. Get importmonster or some other agent to bid, ship it to you. There are many manuals online to teach you how to DIY take off the dash and put in the new one. First time I did it costed me 45 mins, second time I only spent 10-15 minutes. Enjoy your car!

Hi George, I appreciate your reply and I know you are a pro when it comes to importing cars. I am just in an urgent need of a car to prepare for three important shows in August. If you remember I used to wrap my v35 in red, but realized this is not a feasible solution after 1.5 years. So I definitely need a red one, and there are only a few examples within my budget. I had inspected every one of them Except the best one, but the owner completely lost contact since 11 June. Last message I had from him was he was in China and will be back the next day, and I never heard back from him. Kinda got me worried lol... His phone went into voicemail and never answered emails. I even asked iron chef to help me locate him (as iron chef brought the car in) but no replies either. I know the reason is quite stupid but it is one of those things I really cherish - the car shows I do is called itasha which is a popular car scene in Japan, and I ran the very first exhibition last year, and I just want to push this scene further this year. I dedicated a lot of time and effort in it and I could not afford to wait for him to possibly get internet access again in China.

Thanks Max. Yes I am going to reduce my price offered, just want to have an understanding of how much I should spend on top of it if I am to purchase this car. I'm thinking to offer them something like 22k and if they don't take it too bad. I have sympathy for them but I will not pay for their mistake. But if vq37 can last 300,000km with proper care, I will not shut this car down either.

Long story short, I found a car, loved it, then owners told me they purchased it off Prestige Auto Centre. Odometer was wound back for 80,000 kms. The car was advertised by him as having 22k kms, the couple purchased it, did another 21k, so the car has literally done more than 120k kms. No major service was done in Australia (and I have nothing to track its past from Japan), only 2 minor services conducted in the past 3 years (and 21k km travelled), exhaust has some surface rust. At the moment I'm guessing that doing all the above will cost me $1,500 (plugs $150+, water pump $250+, fluid $900+, inspection $200). Also could someone tell me if the rust looks very serious in this case? I have the impression that they are mostly surface rust and I can easily get rid of them by getting a nice custom system installed. Any feedback is appreciated.

No Terry you are different you are a star!! I'm thinking about offering 23k for now, given that it is: - a type S, not SP as advertised - 130,000 ish kms - rust on exhaust (do you think this is serious?) - missed major service (hope it had good service record in Japan but I have nothing to track) But with that sort of money I may as well top up another 10k and buy a 370z locally! And I need a car before July ends... If not I will import one myself with no hesitation.

I kinda struggle because I think it is still a very clean car. Runs smooth, exterior and interior without a mark. But I will need to fork out another $200 for a proper inspection. If I am to buy it I will flush everything I can flush lol - and that will be like another $800? Not sure what exactly I need to do now. I have sent the paper to them already and they are very shocked and sad. Have not provided them with a number yet as I need to do my research first...

So I sold my last 350GT to a mate and am now actively looking for my next, preferably a 370GT. Came across this red 370GT, very mint, great paint and interior, runs good, then I took some underbody photos which kinda worries me... Quite a bit of rust around the midpipe and muffler. The owners are a very nice old couple. The husband took me for a drive then passed the keys to me. "Take them and drive it!" I was like "yes sir thank you but why are you not coming to the passenger seat?" Old pal was like "no why do I need to? Just drive it!" I "...oh please take my keys so I feel better!" Quick spin around the corner, all good, but the lady then told me about our nice friend Dimitri and his Prestige Auto center. SHIIIAATTT. So I said I will pay a Japanese odo check out of my pocket and get back to them. Today the JOC guys came back and give me this... Yep, odo was wound back for more than 80,000 kms. The car was a 4B (which proves the condition) but was sold with more than 100k on it; the couple bought it with 21k, and they did another 22k, so I'm looking at a 120k car, which had missed its major (100k) service (water pump, trans fluid, diff fluid, plugs, etc) and with quite a bit of rust (see pics). I really like this car but I've come to a point don't feel like bargaining anymore... The couple paid $39K back in 2013 and I don't even want to pay $25k for it right now - but no way they are going to accept something like $23K. Can anyone help me to justify this car and guide me on how much money I need to set aside to service / replace parts up to the standard it deserves?

Why on earth would you want to track/push hard on a GT-8 in the first place? Earlier CVTs are known to have issues when thrashed hard. If you want to race/track/drag a car, at least get a 5sp auto or 6sp manual. V35s are named with GT for a reason - grand touring is different without the "R"! Of course you can have a heavy foot and have fun around the corners or keeping up with the traffic, but I would never track a GT-8.

Meanwhile in NSW we are not allowed to tint the front windscreen AT ALL. Seriously why tint the front anyway? HID always has issues because if your car does not have washers and adjustable projecting equipments, even if HID is stock it will still be against the law.

Hi guys, Just bought some nice factory Rays forged 19" for my V35 so finally I can get rid of the damaged Enkeis... I love these wheels; perfect design, light weight, good brand, good size. Shame they are too damaged (for my standard). Two 19*8.5 in front, two 19*9.5 at rear. Previous tyres were K19 245/35/19 all round, perfect fitting. Offset +22 I think (as the photo suggests). Fits a V35 perfectly. 5*114.3 PCD like most modern Nissans. Not an urgent sale so may ask for EOI too - if I can't get a good price off them I might just keep and refurbish them for my next V36. Asking $1.2k ono, located Eastwood, NSW. PM me or text/call 0430 triple 7 double 8. I work 9-5 on weekdays so please call after 6, or text any time. Prefer local pickups (or I can drive to you if you're not too far away - but won't drive for inspections sorry) but shipping can be arranged at buyers' cost. There are a few in Sydney but parts availability is always a luck thing. I often get lazy and ask JLM to source it for me coz they have contacts and won't rip me off on parts price. Will check with the tech guys I know (may start looking at my own seats first) to see if this trick will work. I agree with other guys too on buying Chinese knockoffs - for small things that may be a good idea but a seat is kinda crucial for your safety, especially when our cars are somehow fast.

Great work man. I've been having airbag lights too - and it's probably from my seat harness as the code indicates. For the resistor, say that will "close" the circuit in the driver's seat airbag - would that cause malfunction of other airbags? I don't really care about the driver's seat airbag anyway coz no one ever seats at the back. If that works I will be heading off to car yards and look for a used v35 seat straight away!
