Haven't got the time to wax it properly yet, but imo the finish looks similar to paint but not as 100% glossy (if you compare it to those premium metallic high gloss paint). The "peel" you mentioned is probably due to poor light/camera or water/dust marks on the car... Also the color code from Avery is SWF "Red" - but under the sun it has an orange-ish finish (which works even better for me coz I like orange too). I hate my iphone 5 camera.

Lol mate, yeah I work in North Sydney, so need to shuffle the car every 2 hours or so. Changing the color - be it base or wrapping - is legal as long as your color does not pose a threat or offence to anyone else on the street, in NSW. You can notify RMS using this form: http://www.rms.nsw.gov.au/documents/about/forms/45070212-adjustment-of-records.pdf and it's free. Insurance wise I'm on Just Car third party and they never even asked about the color - so can't say much about it. Comprehensive should be no issue if you update all details with them, but premium may vary (and you need to check this out with your insurer).

Lol I have so many queries on the plate everywhere... In NSW you can arrange those plates with RMS (travel authority), this design is called flaming rose and cost a one-off $295 with $99 annual fees I think. Many panels on my car had been resprayed (paintwise, the car was pretty shit when I got it) so I just got sick of looking at the imperfections everyday, and I never liked matte finish.

So red has always been my fav color and I always wanted a red V35, but there are hardly any on the market. My previous 250GT was written off by a jerk teenager rear-ending me, so I got this 03 from a mate with a ridiculous low price (and it has many faults so I spent some cash fixing it up too). When I thought of doing a red roof, my missus was like "why don't you just go with the whole car?!" then I was like hell yeah why not! Roof Bonnet Panels We have no garages so I can only do it on the drive way... 1-2 hours a day after work and dinner. Doors. Almost there! Rear. Logo to cover cut-off marks and imperfections Different color scales coz I ran out of vinyls and was being a cheapass... Same principle. Last step And it's done! All work by myself... PMs are welcome if you would like to know more about details/techniques. Plenty of videos on youtube but it does feel different when you are on it yourself. All vinyls from Avery Denison, got them from a very good supplier in North Rocks - pm for details (or I can post it here if this does not go against forum rules), $55 per meter (1.5m wide). So I spent less than $800 for the whole car (and I wasted quite some in the beginning), compared to those vinyl shops this is a massive saving (and feels heaps more accomplished)!

Went around for a few quotes but all around that 600 figure. Damn tri-coat pearl. In the end I decided to manually sand the edges down to the primer and wrap again - actually looks not bad. Won't notice that from two metres away. Only reason for doing this was that I need to make the car look not like shit last Saturday so that I can make it to the SAUNSW cruise on last Sunday.

Official End Of Year Putty Road Cruise - Wrap Up

Was lucky to completely avoid the hail - took M1 home and stuck in a huge jam about 5k away from Pacific Highway exit. Turned out that trees fell on M1 due to storm so took some time to clear things out. Killara/Lindfiend area looked like they were hit by a typhoon/cyclone, water and leaves everywhere on the road. Great drive today, really enjoyed it! Already looking forward to the next cruise. -
Auction sheet - tells you how the car was like when it was sold in auction Dereg cert - tells you how the Jap authority described the car when it deregs. Take extra caution here as recently some dodgy guys will dereg the car, repair it/do works on it, then re-reg it in Japan, and dereg again. So always make sure the dereg and auction sheet agree with each other! Short and easy way: approach Iron Chef / J-spec / Prestige / JLM / whatever other reputable import guys and they will sort this out for you. VIN search - yes, it's called Nissan FAST I think - not sure if V35/36s are covered though. Soft-tune - yes, a lot of guys here had used Uprev or something else. Better check with them in terms of how much power can be gained.
-
BTW, in regards to the Carsales price, use them as reference only, and always check the mileage before you put down deposit for any car. Grey import is a grey zone and people take advantages in many ways. Use this site to get a general impression of how much cars are sold in Japan: http://exportcar.jp/en

http://history.nissan.co.jp/SKYLINE/V36/0611/XML/eq4isr000000j3ux.html http://history.nissan.co.jp/SKYLINE/V36/0611/XML/eq4isr000000j3h4.html If you can read Japanese like I do, always refer to history.nissan.co.jp for manufacturer spec lists. Somehow they did not put v36 350GT in this page but as far as I know the options/features are similar across 3.5 and 3.7L engines. If you cannot read, here are the answers for your enquiries (note that standard on all grades means those shown in the table, so 370GT & 250GT only - again I reckon 350GT should share similar features. -AFS (Active Front lighting System) Standard on all grades. - VDC (stability control) Not on 250GT/250GT four, otherwise standard on all other grades. - BOSE stereo system Maker option on all grades. - Dual xenon headlights Standard on all grades. - 4 Wheel Advanced Steering (4WAS) Maker option (manufacturer option, as opposed to dealer option) on 370GT S/SP. - Big(ger) Brake Kit Sports brake system is standard on all type S/SP models. I only had a quick browse though, let me know if anyone disagrees or has any further questions please. Lastly: GET A V36 COUPE THEY ARE AWESOME MATE

So after I got this car not long ago, I realised the roof had been repainted somehow as the quality of paint is shit - upon the first wash about 1 square cm's paint had peeled, then developed to a coin's size. Therefore I decided to give it a wrap since I was planning to change the color anyway. However I made a horrible rookie mistake by not sanding the chip/peeling down before applying the wrap - so after I attempted to move the wrap about to adjust the position, massive peeling happened and the roof now look like disaster. I took it to a smash repairer and was quoted 600 to repaint the whole roof (which I think was a rip off even though it's tri-layer pearl) and was told that sanding will not make it work, and if the panel is exposed then even if I wrap it with premium vinyl there would still be rust issue. They refused to simply sand/buff it as they did not have time today. If anyone had dealt with peeling paint before, how safe would it be for myself to sand the peeling edges (upon removal of wraps the rest of the roof seems okay (no peelings) and wrap it again? Will definitely visit Supercheap tomorrow to seek DIY solutions. Alternatively, if anyone in Sydney knows someone who can deal with this roof and operates on Saturday, please let me know. Much appreciated.

What Should I Price My V35 At?
bluenoir replied to D2K77's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
Do you plan to renew the rego when it expires? It is highly unlikely that you can sell it before Dec 2014... And people will have a lot less incentives to buy an unregistered car. Also your Carsales ad said the car is regularly serviced in North Sydney Nissan, but the car has a QLD plate and your location is QLD as well. Would that be a typo? Other than that the car looks great - a reasonably price for 80k genuine mileage and decent condition. -

Not a member yet, posting the application form tomorrow. But yeah please put my name down if there are vacancies left! Will bring missus down there too, Singleton is good as we can meet friends from Muswellbrook from there. Thanks, Francis -
SRS is very annoying when it has problems. Can be anything. Take a read at http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/G35/Coupe/2003/srs.pdf For my car the seat belts were tampered so the indicator kept coming back whenever I pull the belt hard - but as the article said, a flashing indicator can be anything, clock springs, sensors, modules, belts.

V35, Vdc, Slip And Immobilizer Light All On?
bluenoir replied to timw's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
Happened to my 350 coupe once before I bought it (mate's car). Sounds like exactly the same problem you encountered i.e. VDC/SLIP on, car in limp mode... Changed a cam sensor and things are all good but that's just for me. Take it to a good mechanic and put on Consult III definitely. -
It was written off last week due to being rear-ended by a uni student... He was talking to his girlfriend and the car of five hit me (stopped behind another car) at 50km/h or above. Their airbags all deployed. And the accident was on 6 Oct which was a public holiday. Hope the cops will fine the shit out of him. And I have this baby now:

Well I spent 3 years in this 250GT until I got my full this year. Pretty damn sure that 250GT is P-legal in NSW, if not all states. Provisional laws before August 2014: Non-V8, non-turbo - passed Not on the list of prohibited vehicles (like 350GT) - passed After August 2014: Not exceeding 130kw/ton - passed. 250GT has 158kw and 1.57 ton as standard so that's way lower than 130kw/ton. Not on the list of prohibited vehicles - again passed. So I really don't understand why would you say "ALL" 250GTs are banned on Ps. Maybe if you mod it heavily they will but apparently my car has no mods to the engine/drive train whatsoever.

Selling due to upgrading to a 350GT. Did a JDM 2DIN conversion recently and results look perfect. Original post is at for sale section and contains a lot more info. Not going to re-upload images and stuff up the forum's resources again... http://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/448762-sydfs-my02-skyline-v35-250gt-sedan-automatic-rare-itasha-version-83k-ono/

Cannot edit the original post so have to bump it... PRICE REDUCED TO $7.5K ONO as I had transferred the new car to my name already. Aiming to sell fast. Again inspections are welcome. Stickers are fully removable so even if you are not after a fancy deco car you can still get a mint condition 250GT.
-
If you are a JDM fan you probably have heard of the "itasha" scene. This is one of the few examples available in Australia. Finally selling my Skyline with a lot of love due to getting my full licence and updating to a 350GT. MY2002 Nissan Skyline V35 250GT (Sedan) located in Sydney. 2.5LV6/158kw/RWD/Auto/P Plate legal. ODO currently reads 111,000km; serviced every 5-6km at JLM in Sydney and filled with 95/98 Petrol only. Custom plate will not be transferred with car; I will remove the stickers if there is a need (done it before and paint is NOT affected at all). Brand new Kenwood stereo/dash with ipod control and bluetooth music streaming/handless phone functions. If you are into V35 you know the stereo is probably the only design fault and is always a ticking bomb. I completely solved it. Dash is JDM unlike cheap metra aftermarket which will break again soon. New front bumper. Full body kits/side skirts. Rego is due late Oct 2014. Price is $8,300 ONO. Happy to drive to Eastwood/Epping area for inspection but only after 6pm or on weekends as I work full time. For a car at this age the condition is excellent. For more info feel free to drop me a text at 0430277788 (no calls during 9-5 weekdays plz) or write me an Email at [email protected]. Cheers, Francis

The V Series Spotted Thread

Car Audio Kit For 2001 250Gt - Metra Kit?
bluenoir replied to bluenoir's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
Hi guys, Did a lot of research last weekend on amayama, japanparts and JP-carparts, still clueless on the exact model number I need. The guy at amayama insisted that unless I give him the exact model number he cannot provide any help/info (even when I gave him the model number, V35 series, year, audio configuration, etc) so I guess it's up to myself to identify the correct parts. And then I sent him a list he said the parts are for original audio panel (not the double DIN) so yeah he cannot do it - unless I figure them out myself. Would anyone happen to order the parts number before? As far as I know I just need to order four items: - lid cluster (68520 series - 68260AL500) - AC control unit (27130 series - 27500AL500) - rear bracket/mount (68153 series - 28038AL500) - pocket (68475A series - 6847535F00) Since I'm installing double DIN I will not need the radio mask 68470. Now I'm just trapped by the millions of model number (AL500, AL502, AL710, blah blah blah) and amayama will not help me unless I tell them which one do I need exactly. I'm suspecting the lid cluster should be AL710 instead of AL500 but I'm not sure if AL710 applies to 2001 V35 (I know AL710 applies to 2003 V35 Coupes...). If posting the above info would hurt anyone's business (or in any means) please let me know and I will remove them ASAP. -
Car Audio Kit For 2001 250Gt - Metra Kit?
bluenoir replied to bluenoir's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
Thanks guys. Didn't realise the metra kit is so shit - seen someone's previous post about how they installed a metra and thought it would be fine. Main reason to go for it was the long waiting period for JDM parts. Looking for JDM parts now. Will definitely look for NM35 Stagea parts too. Cheers all. Have a good weekend.
