a sandwich plate. ask someone who stocks oil coolers. they should have them. edit: that was a bit general, sorry. the sandwich plate goes between the block and the oil filter. it will have 2 lines which you connect your oil cooler hoses to. the filter fits onto the sandwich plate. heres a pic i googled:

i doubt it'll be safe. im not sure if you can have the tubes replaced but if you cant then i really wouldnt risk it. another $430 is cheap compared to a $5000 rebuild. someone else may be able to tell you if it will flow better than stock if you weld up the holes. sorry mate.

who told you it was 200% larger? i think the only difference is its a little thicker and made entirely from aluminium. if you could find an aluminium welder then he could probably weld the holes shut but you'll still have no guarantee it wont leak. it wont flow as much either so your % gain would be pretty much shot.

what happens to slicks to make them too old to use?

if its for daily driving i'd recommend getting your gearbox rebuilt with at least 1-2 or 1-3 straight cut gears, and the rest hellical. a gearbox with dog gears have syncros and make it easier to change gears around the street and have syncros so changing gears will be like your current gearbox. a complete dog box doesnt have syncros and makes it a little bit of a bitch to drive around on the street as you've got to match rpm and speed to gears, it gets easy after a while but its still a pain to drive on the street (but truck drivers do it every day so its not THAT bad). it all comes down to what you want the car for mate. hope that helps.

it happens. its not oil. its more like a build up of crap from cars idling there for too long, like exhaust residue, fuel in some cases, trucks losing oil etc. the shit gets slippery. it only really happens in areas that get alot of traffic through them.

when you replace your battery unplug your CAS so you can click it over to build up oil pressure. after 4 months you most likley wont have any oil around your bearings or in your lifters, doing this will help build up pressure without putting any real strain on your bearings before there is oil pressure. other than that, your maps and everything should be fine.

justjap sell aluminium ones for 400. a cheaper alternative would be to replace the top tank. i got a new top tank for my old honda for $120. just go into any radiator specialists and they should be able to fix you up. check out east-west radiators in bankstown, 4 exceller ave. ph: 97901232.

turn your heater on if your car over-heats, it'll allow more coolant to flow through your radiator, thats just to get you out of trouble to get you home. unless you saw milky kind of crap in your radiator and its not constantly overheating then i dont think you've done a head gasket.

it will take alot to kill piston rings. when my motor blew my #6 piston melted, my ringands snapped, my rings fried.. but they stayed in 1 piece. age will keep them from sealing properly.
