nissan wont sell you selant. they might have a gasket for it though..
but just head down to supercheap or repco and get some gasket maker. its a type of goo that dries into a rubbery material. make sure your mating surfaces are clean.. he wouldnt have cleaned them himself otherwise he would've sealed it himself and charged more for the motor.
they do stupid things to keep cars out of the rocks... they put a nice high speed hump just before the turn into the rocks.. now theyve made it a 1 lane - 2 way pass under the bridge with a traffic light controlling traffic.
i went through there last sat night and everyone was jumping out of their cars pumping music and dancing. its a bigger hangout now.
stock up on red bull and pringles.
ive driven from syd to brisbane 4 times and its always gotten me through.. only needed to stop for toilet breaks.
also the turbo rule only applies to people in nsw. you should be right mate.
im pretty sure the auto will do a better 0-100 time. auto's will lag but you can start at a higher rev (rev and brake till you start to spin) and still have full traction, that will give you a better take off than any manual out there. for me its at around 3000 and it isnt till past the 100 mark that a manual will beat me.
why do you think most top drag cars are quick shift?
i got my water pump for $40 from Coventry Auto Parts in Alexandria (my mate works there).. retail is $90.
i might ask them if they'd be interested in an SAU discount scheme too.
ive been wanting to get out to a track day but im a bit worried about going somewhere with walls on my first go as i know ill be testing my cars limits from the word go.. its just how i drive, i like to know my limits and especially out on a track i know i wont hold back.
id be interested in going to wakafield park as soon as my rebuild is completed and run in.
the cost is another factor for me. im a uni student and i work as much as i can but most of it goes onto my morgage repayments.
also my car is a daily driver (when i get it back anyway), and with 6 people in my family its really hard getting a car otherwise. ive got a lancer too but ive sold it to my old man because he gave his car to my mum.
if i thought about going to events then i usually need time to save and owning a skyline doesnt help my $$ situation. but in saying that ive been itching to go to a track day and if the price is right ill definately attend.
to lubricate the bores after YEARS thats fine, but you'll still need to build up oil pressure.
get an oil can and pump a bit of oil into your oil pressure switch and crank it. do that a few times and you should be right to start it up.
but if its sitting around for a few months then you should be fine, just get a new battery in there and start it up.
yes its illegal. but in most cases they dont look.
i was driving around with no front bar, and most of my front bar support has been chopped away to fit my fmic and front bar. got pulled over and they didnt say anything about the amount of metal i took off, but how the exposed corners of it could cut someone that walks past my car.
i wouldnt risk it unless you had a front bar on. they cant ask you to take your front bar off to check can they?
i got everything except my engine bay painted. my engine bay colour is black so i guess its not too bad, noone ever says anything. i actually had someone looking at my engine bay and ask "so what colour was it before?". i thought it was pretty funny.
when looking for a car ive always come down to the point where ive got a few potential cars and cant decide on which one to go with... including driver training with your car might make that decision a little easier to make
its definately a positive, especially if its someones parent that is buying the car for them... so why the hell not? it'd be a good experiment.
i reckon someone should throw in a skid pan day and see how that goes.
could be your oil pump. hows oil pressure? (dont go off the standard gauge). the problem you're describing sounds to me like oil pressure is low on start up. by the time the oil gets to your lifters it starts lubricating then the sound goes away.
white smoke doesnt mean much.. its usually condensation in the exhaust.
