  1. what condition is the rb25det block in? what extent of work will be needed get it working? i.e. would it need to be machined or will a hone be ok?
  2. does anyone have a nice clean bare rb25det block for sale? my block might have too much damage on it after a melted piston (i dont want to bore it out because i want to use standard pistons). thanks guys.
  3. exactly right ian, but it will take someone thats good with tools under an hour to get to it. my car is off the road atm so ill give it a go. ill post up pics on how to fix it. im into fixing things without replacing them (unless it will be deemed unsafe). ive got a blower missing a gear so ive got to get in there anyway. keep an eye out.
  4. my cars auto and i still throw it into 2nd when im doing corners.
  5. if you're after a cheap upgrade, go with the t3 off a 300zx (the single turbo version), but these turbos are a little old so make sure its in tip top condition. hi-flowing one of those would be more beneficial i think.
  6. im going through the same thing with my 25 due to a melted ringland. im lucky as there was no marks on the bore, but im going to give it a light hone anyway, then install new pistons on #5 and 6, new rings on all pistons, new bearings, thermostat, water pump and oil pump. hopefully it'll all run smoothly. dont be suprised if i pm you with a few (read: alot) of questions. thanks for the info. im sure it'll come in handy for alot of sau'ers.
  7. Slide sells internally gated t04e's for around the 800 mark. thats where my next turbo is coming from. direct bolt on, capable of 250kw
  8. i dont need the radiator anymore, price on just the condensor and the indicator thingo??
  9. ive got the same problem mate, it'll cost you $2000+ if you're taking it somewhere and getting them to do it with forged pistons. im doing it all myself and ive bought a piston off a forum member for $25 delivered. so far the costs are: piston $25 bearings (ACL big ends and mains) $120 head gasket (off a forum member) $50 a set of 6 piston rings $?? sump gasket $?? thermostat (might as well do it) $?? Flexigauge for clearances (after honing) $?? and a bit of assembly grease $5 now it depends on how bad the damage is. mine melted leaving no scratches on the bore, this will end up being cheaper as i dont need to bore the cylinders out to fit forgies. im lightly honing all of the bores to re-fit a stock piston.. heres a pic of the cylinder, all work was done in my driveway. my brother in law did most of the work as hes a mechanic (oh, dont mind the oil.. we put it there AFTER we took the head off ) see that nice chunk of metal melted away from #6.. thats what it looks like to have a dodgy bleed valve that spikes.
  10. radiator AND aircon condensor, i woudnt pay 200 for just the condensor!! thanks for the offer NXTIME, ill let you know mate.
  11. on one of the hottest days (40deg) mine hit around 35 on idle, but that isnt really bad as your engine isnt really under load, but 90-100 is rather high. as long as it hits 0 while under load then its fine, i rev to about 1000-1200 if my knock gets a bit high on idle, i find it drops a bit.
  12. this is how i hooked mine up it seemed like the more logical way to do it.
  13. im from bankstown so anywhere between where you are and here
  14. im in
  15. is there any way you'd meet half way for this?
  16. does anyone have the max allowed clearances for the pistons to the bore for an rb25det? the workshop manual doesnt seem to have it in there.
  17. can you get back to me on the indicator piece and the left shock, thanks mate. also a price on the air-con condensor and radiator.
  18. i was thinking $20 for the front left shock.
  19. queen street did mine.
  20. it'll be a bit hard to post to syd. how much would postage be on something that size?
  21. the answer to my "my lawn mower runs shit" thread!!
