i was at the drags tonight and when i took off i started getting lots of smoke from under my engine bay due to a melted catch tank hose (dont use the ones they give you!). when i got to the middle of the track it felt like it was running on 5cyl and i had alot of smoke coming from behind the car (oil frying on my manifold). i opened the bonnet and there was oil everywhere, one of the catch can pipes burst. my oil pressure is fine, engine temp is fine, knock is still reading low. so what could it be? my spark plugs are a bit black.. ive got no smoke coming out of my exhaust, and no oil in my catch can. thanks guys, i could realllyyyy use some help. maybe the extra fuel fowled up one of my spark plugs more than the others because i think i got a boost spike.

thanks.. i heard if it was ringlands i'd get oil in my catch tank.. i dont have any oil in my catch tank. it was only when the pipe burst i started burning oil. it doesnt blow smoke out of the exhaust either :S

its still running on 5 cyl. i took my sparkies out and they were all pretty black, but the one at the end, near the firewall (number 6??) had oil on it. i didnt get any blow by on my way home, but it was still running crap. ive got a feeling its ringlands too.

can a mod move this to the NSW section. my bad.

lets start from the beginning.. i got to the starting line and i didnt notice any smoke.. got to 1/4 of the way and i really started to notice it. one of my catch can hoses started leaking oil which then sprayed all over my engine bay (i think it would've sprayed onto the fan, then the fan sprayed everywhere else). now the car feels like its running on 5 or 4 cylinders... its sounding like a wrx. well i cleaned it all up at the drags and drove it home. im not sure if a melted piston is whats wrong with it.. or one of my spark plugs snapped from the heat. but im just hoping its nothing major otherwise im gonna kick the shit out of it till it stops taking money from me. all the vitals seem fine (oil pressure same, engine temp same, knock sensor good). what coud it be? ive started a thread in general maintenance but yeah.. shit go. ARRGHHH

what about your headlight fuses? are they the right amperage? check if they're the right ones too.

ive got the same problem on my car (93 r33 also) im pretty sure its something electrical because when that happens i quickly push the SNOW button and it goes into 2nd and works fine. maybe start from there, check all the electrics on it.

thanks mate, my old man own a lot of town houses near there that i used to work on alot while they were building. buying a new mower isnt an option. its pretty new but i just think it needs a service or i might need to play with the exhaust. might just chuck on some webber carbies

i'd have to keep spraying it though wouldnt i? plus my old man's a developer, he owns land and houses which go for a while without being maintained so i'd want something that will give me a power increase to get through a whole yard (approx 700m2 average).

i just figured i'd get a better response from a section for giving mechanical advice. and it is pretty general isnt it?

all done, they blink really fast but i think thats because of the difference in watts of the bulbs.

come on dude, im no dummy. i know the lawn mower is lacking power, so im just looking at my options in terms of increasing it. thanks RANDY, helpful info mate.
