  1. Hey guys, Does anyone here know of a GOOD architect in Sydney, preferebly around the western suburbs area? Im a developer and need a reliable architect that is familiar with local council and BCA requirements (so there are no delays on getting approval). Ongoing work is almost guaranteed. Thought i'd give SAU a go because networking rocks! Cheers, Joe
  2. ive got one of the new version OP6 GCG hiflows on mine. i dont know much about it though. it wasn't a direct swap, the oil and water feed/drains had to be changed due to the new types of core. i havent really had the car tuned properly but it will be up and running really soon.
  3. congrats mate and welcome. p.s. now that you've got one PLEASE don't become a statistic.... i'll be your best friend
  4. rip the head off the motor, rip the turbo off and pull out your cat - it will be in either one of these. chances are its sitting ontop of, or stuck between the piston and the bore. if it is you dont want to risk any dodgy attempts at getting it out, using a magnet wont be good enough as there will still be fragments that will cause bore damage. rip your turbo off and make sure no pieces are in there or have caused one of the fins to chip, and if they have passed through they will most likely be in your cat. goodluck!
  5. thanks for the suggestions fellas, justjap is on the way to the gym too. Linton, PM sent mate.
  6. nitrous wins races.
  7. nah they done match up mate, thanks for the offer though.
  8. everyone these days will recommend the ecu's they are used to tuning. my engine builder hadn't had ANY experience with the vipec and as he wanted to do the initial tune on the car he was very surprised as to how well it worked. his words, after a while of using it he said it was pretty easy to get used to and "the figures he was guessing were just about right" in regards to the figures he was about to load the car up onto. if you get the plug in board you can do it yourself as long as you have a timing light. the tune will cost the same as every other ECU out there. $2500-$2600 sounds right for any ECU in the vipec's price range.
  9. yeah i need the one between the head and the turbo manifold. all of the studs were replaced in the build. i dont have time to drop past nissan, my hours are crap so i thought i'd try this first. and im in bankstown.
  10. hey guys, ive got an exhaust leak on my exhaust manifold and ive been trying to get in contact with my engine builder for 4 weeks and its looked like he's trying to dick me around on the final repairs on my car so it looks like im going to have to do it myself. if anyone out there has a spare gasket lying around could you let me know? cheers, Joe
  11. thats r&r, time for a new ECU or turn the boost right down.
  12. because you're running so rich pre-boost you'll be getting alot of lag. im going to guess your fuel economy is rubbish? and also because its a significantly bigger turbo, 7psi is still flowing more air than 12psi on your stock turbo - so yes, you're running lean which may cause engine failure. you'll realise that even if youve got a stock turbo and you upgrade everything else you will be underpowered because your AFM is sucking in more air than it usually does on a stock setup then pumps out fuel according to set figures in the ecu's map vs. AFM voltage - these figures dont change for the better. your ECU shits itself and just dumps fuel when it hits the AFM voltages are lower RPM's which is why you need a new ECU or at least a remap to tune for the new breathing mods. let me know if any of that didnt make sence.
  13. regardless he needs a new ECU/remap because of what was said above.
  14. sounds like you have no idea what goes in inside a car to get it running right, its ok - we all started at that point at some stage. when i started i thought that getting the biggest turbo, biggest exhaust, biggest front mount and it will be good for 11's. the things you'll need to run that setup properly is a full programmable ECU, fuel pump, injectors, coil packs, wastegate/actuator as a bare minimum. you'll be running very rich up until the turbo kicks in then very lean onwards - im surprised you haven't blown your motor, i'd get a compression test done asap to make sure though.
  15. there are better degreasers than that $2 shit you get from supercheap - thats just the stuff that will get you out of trouble in your usual day to day. there are heavy duty automotive degreasers you can get but you've got to wear gloved while using it - just look harder.
  16. i dont think the fault is with the sender because when you're reading actual low pressure your engine light comes on. i think the fault is with the gauge - when i took apart my gauge in the dash there was a resistor on the circuit board that had looked like it had blown, there was also traces of carbon around the plastic, if i find the picture i took ill post it up.
  17. dont these work for r32 and r33 gtst's as well by flicking some switches?
  18. you can always rip the front drive shaft off a GTR and have the same feel as a gts couldnt you?
  19. clean your coil packs with some steel wool first - as in after you pull out the rubber boot and the spring, the bit of metal that the spring sits in builds up full of crap.
  20. sold to niz32det, pending payment.
  21. all pm's replied to guys. i'll post pics up soon.
  22. i installed it for him and he took it for a wrap. he loved it. PM 08r3308.
