I've got a set of t bars in the shed, I took them off because you'd open the bonnet to show your mates and the first thing they do is twist them righting it more and squashing the gasket, you to piss me off haha My old boy has a filter on a fe with a 138 , it looks like an old tea kettle

I think I've got to get a tacho for the beast too, and a crank girdle, It has a decent size cam in it, but the rev calculator on the net is telling me she's reving to 8300rpm!

[quote name="warps" post="7502878" timestamp="1427184289"(3 in the tree with no synchro on 1st, 4 wheel drummies) - no wonder I still have good mechanical sympathy for every car I drive - except hire cars - they need to be punished) I had a hr with a crash box the don't like burnouts haha best thing is that there easy enough to change over, and your hire cars are evil and need to be punished haha! I'm thinking about painting the cover same colour as the motor and polishing up the fins what your reckon GTRPSI?

Haha carbs are good fun, New rocker cover for the big girl, should have a catch can on it by the weekend.

Holy crap that's crazy! No worries cheers for that! I was going to put a full set of Volvo disc and calipers on it all round because I've had them in the shed for years.
-
Stick with old cars and life stays simple just trying to find parts these days is the hardest parts, trying to find LJ axles in tas is bloody hard! I'm thinking I'll put a HIlux diff in the torana soon [emoji106] But I'll be honest i love my GTR but not as much as the xu1
-
Gtr psi you should see the home made spanners I've made over the years to make my triples carb fit and custom made extractors, aswell as trying different manifolds and having to grind the sides of them just so I could get a bent grinded down spanner on it so I could get half a turn of a nut to try get it on the motor, ahh the stressful fun of it all haha it makes you appreciate your car alot more and putting the hours in and learning along the way when building a motor or car

I've only ever done the full noise in top and shut it off and pulled over for plug checks, I've never heard of the garden hose stethoscope method, please tell me more I've also thought about buying a vaccum gauge but I've never bothered. I like fiddling around around with the 48's there a good carb once you've got your head around the jetting/ emoulition tubes, air caps and chokes. Haha, yeah they would of! It's easy to make power these days! They'll never try to find every horse power in a motor like you have to in an old red motor, like taking off the altonator fan off for 1hp hahaha I had good fun dubburing and balancing my starfire rods for this motor

There's nothing better than hearing about stories from the old days were muscle cars (to me) were muscle cars! I didn't get the torana finished in time to take it out for a burn, ain't got everything sorted, I just needed a baffled rocker cover to stop the oil from coming out the breathers, time for a catch can setup , maybe even a drain back to the sump or even into the side plates, seams like it has some go for a 186
-
Yeah don't you wish that them kind of cars you kept or brought back in the day! Jesus plynx! That should get the red motor going! I've always like the look of a blower hanging out of the bonnet on the left hand side
-
Here's a little vid of her running, needs a pretty good tune yet. And I made my own exhausts today, pretty happy with how it came up
-
She's in , start up tomorrow
-
I've never been in an LJ with a 265 before, it would fly! Yeah I love my holden red sixes there a good motor and a great sound, hopefully this 186 goes alright, the torana in these pics is abit rusty, but yeah your right trying to find a coupe is near impossible these days unless your got a big check book haha, that's why I've kept my coupe, my first car I've had it 12 years in April
-
Well whilst I've been waiting for my GTR motor to get finish ive decided that is build my self a little fun burnout car for next weeks tassie nats. Now I no its not a nissan motor and the mods can take this post down if it's not appropriate for here, But I thought I'd show you guys my little 186 that I've finished off and will be in the torana soon.

Independent Oil Test Must View Before You Buy Oil
Rbdirty30 replied to pol1on1's topic in General Maintenance
They should of tested the black and gold or the home brand oil to see how it went compared to the big oil brands -
It was worth the wait loved it! Yeah 26/30 but no twins going a single this time
-
I brought my GTR with a suspected blown motor( got it cheap) went out brought an already complete motor rb30 bottom end, then pulled the 26 out , turned out it shitted an exhaust wheel but the motor was fine could of only put a turbo on and drove the thing instead the 30 went in waited 12months to drive it. Spent the money doing the 26/30 mods, got the motor in my car, got 8000kms and lost oil pressure, the bloke I brought the bottom end off put the n1 pump on with no crank collar. She was a ticking time bomb . New motor again now, the cheap GTR is not cheap no more haha
-
Vegatable oil goes alright , less friction for more hp!
-
The car won't be driven much, it's not a daily driver, I've had a couple of holden sixes with straight cuts and they never got old listening to them
