sorry, bro... if you're "coming" to australia... then you can bring the car with you.. this is called the personal imports scheme.. because it's YOUR personal car.. being that you are already living here, it must be brought in under SEVS.. which means your RB30 conversion and bucket seats would need to be reverted back to stock.. the reason i said "bags not it" is - well.. i dunno about what things are like in NZ but in aust when you say "BAGS NOT IT!" it means "i call shotgun on NOT doing this" ie: you're sitting on the couch watching TV and your GF is in the kitchen cooking food - the phone rings.. you call out "BAGS NOT!!!" and by federal law she must answer the phone... hence why when you posted this - i called bags not it.. *sigh* so let me get this straight.. you're ALREADY here in WA.. your car is in NZ?? correct?

lol.. yesterday i was driving to arma-hole with my gf to some lamer 40th party.. moral of the story is: saw a silver V35 sedan with epic dent in the rear bumper / boot - like they'd parked it onto a pole. but that's not the funny part. the funny part is that the car had 4 reverse sensors on the back of it. and a reverse camera. no fibs.

BAGS NOT IT. okay okay edit i'll give you a clue - you can only import it depending on how long you've owned the car for. as chris said.. but that's not what i'm here to tell you! waht i AM going to tell you is that if you plan to "take it over the pits in kalgoorlie" you need a legit reason to be out that far away.. ie: you have to LIVE in kalgoorlie. or be working + Garaging the car there.

lol nah man dont get on the defensive i'm literally just trying to work out "what sort of a dude you are" like i need to know what language i can speak to you to help you out - i don't want to come off patronising if you're a 34 year old guy with heaps of knowledge, but at the same time i dont want to overload your head with info if you're - say.. i 17 year old kid.. okay now we can get into the nitty gritty. you're 17, there's nothing wrong with wanting an R34 at your age, they're an excellent choice.. new(ish) with a nice array of features and they're a pretty cool car for a 17 year old.. soooo basically - nothing wrong with yearning for R34.. as you said, it's your choice - and it's a bloody good one. my advice - you're on a double edge sword - you're 17. you want an R34, importing can cause massive headaches and a person of your age doesn't need the heartache, i'm 25 now and imported car number one at age 19.. but even that was with assistance from my older brother who was a wealth of knowledge to me! i wouldn't have been able to do that without him.. if you're wanting to see some sites that you can just "look around" then check out import monster's page.. check out j-spec.. check out directimported's auction search system... and also check out import monsters page too.. these guys all have a neat comprehensive auction search system and have HEAPS of info on them to fill your head with.. if you have a budget of about 10K .. then please understand you're looking at a car budget of about 300K yen FOB.. which means 200K car cost.. which in aussie money terms means your car's value is going to be about 2.5 thousand dollars, 3 thousand at a stretch, the rest of your costs involve: ~1K japanese de-reg fees and prep for deportation (FOB fee) ~1K brokerage fee (trust me. get.a.broker.) ~1.5K shipping quarrantine customs and steam cleaning towing compliance towing inspection registration AND allow a few hundred extra bucks in case something goes wrong - you just - never know.. so as you could imagine - you won't buy a lot of car for that much... never know - you might get lucky.. but when you're importing a car that you only essentially paid 2.5 grand for.. is the 3 month wait really worth it?? that's your choice - personally i'd be shopping hard locally if i were in your shoes.. and honestly forget insurance. you're looking down the barrell of paying what, 2.5K - 3K a year to comprehensively insure a car that's worth what, 7K in the eyes of an insurance company? it's very wasteful in that aspect.. long story short, you have the right frame of mind .. and you're on the right track.. but i dont think that right now is the time for you to be importing cars from other countries.. non turbo R34 is a Pplaters dream car, but there are other cars you can have with that budget which will go faster and handle better.. here's a breif list of cars within your budget: Jzz31 2JZ toyota Soarer Lexus GS300 (id have one of these over an R34 ANYDAY) Mitsubishi FTO (never driven one - but i'd imagine would be fun for Pplater) ED honda civic (old school charm and punchy fun with a myriad of engine swap choices) ae111 toyota levin (would LOVE to drive one of these!) pulsar SSS (2 litres of fury) EG Civic (again - myriad of engine swap choices) all these cars are either lightweight and flighty fun handlers or larger block feature packed luxury cruisers.. why you would choose a 2.5 ltr boxy sedan with no turbo and limited features (when compared to toyota's offerings) is beyond me.. let me know how you go!!!

yeah sorry man i wasn't mocking you - as xalmon said, there's a certain catch cry that's started this year regards to the Z32.. while you DO have an interesting taste in cars (hell i actually LOVE the way the Z32 is styled.. like a hideously ugly 1980's tom selleck moustache having tryhard quirky ferrari that gets driven up n down miami vice cop shows.... yet still manages to look god damn awesome) this is ripped off the J-spec wiki... while this is not ENTIRELY true as kristian said, there IS a small small window there... it's.... really really difficult to find.. For 2 seater versions, 1989 to December 1997 models are eligible for import. For 2+2 versions, only October 1996 to December 1997 models are eligible for import. i'd say not bother unfortunately.. save up your cash a few more months n get a Z33

marc when you're done spewing your paragraph upon paragraph of close minded opinions... it was an RB20DE+T setup. high compression motor. still free revving. still higher torque than DET.. so it still had the torque and only had a small conservative setup for high response and not-much lag... boost came in at about 2500rpm.. but it still had the torque of the DE head... it was actually a very fast motor. i would never go standard 20 det. that engine was different. to summarize. you're dumb. anyway.. back OT. so. gonna get a lexus GS?

nahhhh.. thanks for the offer toffy but i had a cefiro for six years man... my time has passed for them if they were sevs compliable i would have bought a late model nice one. no doubt. but the ones in aust are mostly shitters, and you can only import MY88 ones.. and pickings are VERY slim for them i am one ceffy owner that won't be going back unfortunately! but yes - it definitely needed more low... but it was a daily commuter! EDIT: if these were sevs compliable - i'd happily take owership of THIS CEFIRO for 460xxxyen

^^^yep. get a classic skyline or a classic crown or a classic mark2 has a lot more respect that a nonturbo R33 4 door. get this.. or.. another forgotten platform.. the mazda 929. there are so many OTHER and BETTER cars than a nonturbo skyline brah.
