Mr Eps replied to Blitz_boy's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
also like to add - my car was graded at auction grade 3 ("very average") it's absolutely immaculate inside and outside and has a full top to bottom months old Newing leather retrim. non smoking, no rips tears or cracks, no scratches or crash history... go figure! -
Personal Imports
Mr Eps replied to ebola's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
^^^yeah, Kris makes a good point... the personal imports scheme is only really useful if you're bringing something BULLSHIT in like a final model Honda NSX or something like that... there's no point making your hair go gray over a GTR... just bring it over through Sevs! -
Another Importing Newb Here!
Mr Eps replied to ironpaw's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
hard to sell or not - the "game" of being an import owner is a different race to the domestic cars altogether, please understand this - importing is for specialist and enthusiasts... if you're not one of these people i advise against buying one... in short - they're not hard or easy to sell... they're not really MEANT to be sold - you import a car to DRIVE it, to OWN it, to make your friends wonder why THEY didn't think to get a car like yours instead of spending 38K on a commodore.. i understand now you're in need of a FAMILY car haha jzx100 ugly? i hardly think so.. then again there's the newer x110... again - how is this ugly?? i'm hoping you're thinking of a different car here so yeah - sorry for spurting my "value for money" imports i didn't read the "wanting family car" part!!! so x100 / x110 is suitable... but if you want the wagon... i'd definitely have the M35 stagea... they have great power they're not that cheap to comply i'll be honest but they're a very nice car to have... they're powerful but i'm just saying - understand it's a wagon... not a low stanced coupe.... so it will FEEL a bit sluggish and heavy compared to EVO or GTR.. my personal thoughts are - if you're a leader of a family and want to cart them around - get a FAMILY car, downsize it to something cheap and get something you don't mind having baby puke / poo / cranberry juice / nutella / chips / fanta etc spilled in / around / all over it... and get an imported toy for your "man time" don't get a car where you're tempted to drop skids with babies on board =P would you consider E51 elgrand? -

hi there and welcome to SAU if i was in your shoes i would go the M35 over the C34... just because it's a newer car - as fast as stagea's are though... they're not exactly "make you crap yourself" fast - simply because of the sheer weight of them... they're more a "practical cruiser" as opposed to a massively fast supercar.. the same fate is dealt with in the caldinas... while they SHOULD feel like a fast nible car... they're not really the same hair raising experience as say... a TT supra.. but that been said - pit a caldina / stagea up against a commodore wagon / i30 wagon then they're leaps and bounds in front of any competition! M35 would be my personal pick out of that bunch... they're much larger, practical, sexier and much easier to justify importing in these times - let's face facts, it's 2010 going on 2011... go the newer option if you can afford it!!! i'll be honest with you, though... your budget of 14/15K - you would probably want to raise that a substantial amount for an M35!!! the compliance on these guys is murder (so i've heard) they certainly are sexy though.. ^^^where did you read this? what does it mean? my car is about 15K landed complied in vic then freighted to me in perth then registered and ORC's (well it would have but then i bought work wheels and tyres) and it will whip the pants off most cars when comparing features, value for money, straight line power and comfort... so that arguement does baffle me.. anyway - Rowan's picks for "value for money" imports are as follows: late model ZZ30 soarer vvt 5MT R33 GTR RZ supra TT 6MT Mitsubishi Legnum (if you're set on a wagon) oh and my current personal KILLER as far as value for money... the JZX100 and ZX110 mark2 / chaser. style, elegance, class and comfort... all rolled into a neat powerful yet practical 4 door. by the way - if your budget is 15 grand -and you want practical power... how does a lexus gs300 with a 2JZgte swap sound? -
....huh? i don't get what you're asking... i don't want to do that at all!!! or at least not now haha basically... my sexual fantasy buys me the following: 2000 build lexus GS300 2JZgte engine single turbo kit bodykit coilovers rims vertex front end conversion for current model GS300 =)

i have been biting my tongue this whole time because i've regarded this thread as stupid taking your airbag off is STUPID. you are NOT vehicular safety engineers. do not Fk with these things. they're there for a reason. and they're designed with the visually impaired in mind if you're that worried about it - why don't you just drive without glasses? that way you can still have your airbag on and not have to worry about crashing! (that was sarcasm) EDIT: i think that mike's post sorta drives home that crashing a car is NO laughing matter. it's not upto you what safety features you remove from your car. you should BE so lucky to have them installed!

okay guys it's all organised and being picked up on monday afternoon.. Nic, what's going on with your cars THIS time? you worry me.. do you not work in the big smoke? i'm situated in east perth if you want to pick parts up during work hours... or you could just GO to the shop with me on monday and take them from there! Jason - that's great news man, how do we get the parts up to you? are you able to come pay me a visit? or shall i maybe bring them up to you when i do my windsheild... no way am i posting those parts to you - that would not be worth it.. esky - your headlights will be in the post this week... i work near a post office so i'll organise this during my lunchbreak. don't worry - i'll pack them up really special-like. now guys a spot of bad news about this - KYP will not (trust me - they will not) come down off their $450 price, i tried my best - basically this just means that your parts will come up to $112.50 each so 12 bucks 50 more per head if this is going to cause you worries financially - let me know via PM and we'll work something out. Rowan out -

Mr Eps replied to Chernade's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
hahaha WOW tlak about a million questions!!! okay here goes way too impatient and want one soon - that scares me when you say that, what if this "S15" is cheap for a very good reason ie: seller has done a mischeif in it? yeah transportation to perth - not really anything to discuss, search online, get quotes, go with a compnay you're happy with! CEVA is usually a good place to start.. does the car have to be stock or modified? umm - dunno about that one, i would say "try and find out later on" would be your best bet - worst case scenario they say "nup cant be registered" and they tell you waht they want you to do and you do it and register it another day.. as for the being a girl thing - the pits guys are no longer "pits guys" they're now full blown public servants with distinct job to carry out, there is no discrimination and there is no bias! yes - perth is crap full stop for buying cars (in my opinion) the seller gets money via bank transfer - and MAYBE the car carrying company can organise payment on delivery but that's up to them PS: buy my cefiro? haha -

part 2 of my confessionssss i forgot to mention that i actually ended up importing a car from japan... as enticing as buying from over east is... it's realistically the same kettle of fish as importing from japan... basically i'm assuming the reason you're looking overeast is because you've seen a SPECIAL one - one that makes you REALLY want it... well - that's why we import cars! we KNOW there's plenty of local examples already but sometimes we want a REALLY special one... importation PROs... get the car you always dreamed of. possibly at a cheaper price than buying locally importation CONs... takes about 3 months or so.. not good for the impatient ones, can be a bit of a headache - but that's what the brokers are here to help you out with!!! importation can get you very different array of cars, from the perfect schmick excellent conditon last run late models... to the cars that are modified but still are regarded as being "almost like new" condition: (by the way - LOVE these cleared out tail lights!!!) all the way up to the kind of thing you would usually expect to see in a japanese car magazine. FYI - both these cars are cars that have gone up today at auction.. and there's literally thousands of other that can be snapped up by a clever buyer! only way i would buy interstate is if it was a complete bargain and i knew it was a great car... because you STILL run the same risks / ups / downs of buying an import from japan again sorry for spamming TONS of pics and taking thigns off topic - but take a look at what you want and what you're after... you might find that you tick every box for being the kind of person who should import an S15!!! -

hi there... okay - transit from vic expect to pay about a grand for that service, the car must be able to be drive on and off a truck - not too low!!!! it's cheapest to get depot to depot so in our case it's most probably in welshpool... when you learn how to use the search function this has been covered many many times in the past anyway... expect to pay about a grand or so for transport - turn around is about seven days - i'd allow up to three weeks in case it's not solid... but yeah - i was in the same boat as you - looking over east for a car because nothing in perth got me excited - i ended up importing the car of my dreams and it's currently in Vic being complied - i got pretty bent over a barrell though because the model of soarer i wanted - nobody in WA will comply them... point i'm trying to make is - buying a car from over east, you run the same risks as importing from japan - as in buying a car sight unseen... would you consider maybe importing your own S15? you'd probably save some money in the process - plus you have access to MANY more cars... it just means you have to be patient with waiting times! -

Western Australia Stagea Get Together.

hey just spitballing an idea - august 14 i'm hosting a golden era nissan sedan cruise and stagea's are allowed to come - why don't you guys just consolidate both our cruises? -
hallo.. okay - blitzboy i GET that you want an evo wagon - and it's a bit of a smack across the face to be told "how about a legnum instead?" but that go tme thinking! (not that that's a smack across the face - it's just that if you want a lanevo - YOU WANT A LANEVO!) in my personal opinion the legnum is up there with late model soarers / chasers as far as "low priced, value for money" imports go right now.. the only problem with the legnum - is in today's climate, they look very dated... on the contrary though... i LOVE the rear end of the legnum... FAR more than the evo wagon!!! i'l just come out and say this... get a legnum. it's a cheap blank canvas. bring a front clip in of an Evo9. and convert the front end... they share the same chassis i beleive... i think this would be a natural progression for it! plus - doesn't the evo9 have a better engine than the legnum anyway? better lift or something? you could sell your legnum engine off surely! it would definitely be a very unique car i'd have one for sure!
