  1. well work with me! what time suits you??? you aren't forced into staying the whole time you know maybe a 7pm meet with 730 depart? others snowball ideas!
  2. ....i don't GET you, Hamish
  3. shan, how can anybody be compared to world war 2 and take it seriously??? but no - i didn't know that, it's kinda cool!
  4. tangles - still?? poor bloke... i remember you telling me about your knee years ago man! upsets me
  5. 2 grand budget... coilovers. honestly? that's ALL that i would do to that car. actually - using the change from the coilovers - i would get blue work wheel nuts. they look FRESH. if you're chasing a more gnarly stance - maybe bolt on spacers for the rear. joeyjoe is a drift tek propagandist i am a work wheel propagandist - i personally can't stand drift teks. he loves them... we're currently in talks with networks to get a sitcom made about us where we live together in a trendy apartment but argue all the time over what wheel is better. it's going to be a hit for sure.. you HAVE work VSXX in 18inch. they are better and worth a lot more than drift teks man! (my opinion) coilovers cost between a grand - 1600 if you want new parts. i would not use bodykits / carbon parts / plastic pretty bits. just get the things that matter. coilovers to drop the height work blue coloured wheel nuts to be a fly gangster. that's it.
  6. a dumped maxima - hmmm... seeing as you're interested... then sure, why not!!! it's a nissan sedan so sure! and - fk it - event is open to stags too
  7. finally - someone who GETS me!!! nobody seems to understand why i went so conservative with my setup - with a DE+T you don't NEED to go big... you just need to go correct - everything else sorts itself out!
  8. this coming from a fellow cefiro owner? speaking first hand. nissan did my stock suspension up nice and tight.... reeeeaaaal nice n tight. and over the 17 years or so that the suspension was sitting there in my car - it didn't exactly ease up. also being that the metals used in those bolts and nuts are SO old - the last thing you want to do is twist them off!!! a little bit of lube and some patience goes a long way when removing stock suspension and a heavy friend also helps to get the long buggers out Ross. you go to Poser Life gym. i'd be careful who you call gay.
  9. just don't superglue your fingers together. and *try* to use the least amount of papier mache possible.
  10. it's eassssssyyyy!!!!! word of advice though... take wheels off... undo the tops... (that's easy) but the side bolts on the shocks can be MEAN to get off to combat this. spray two quick blasts of WD-40 on the nuts. then go inside. drink a coke. maybe watch some videos of cute cats on youtube. they will come off a lot easier if you do this!
  11. Hello everyone! this cruise is (unfortunately) not officially affiliated with SAU / SAUWA. HOWEVER August 14. smack bang in the middle of august. saturday night i'm organising a cruise for us 4 door sedans. EXCLUSIVELY 4 doors. to be eligable .. your car must be one of the following: C series / R series skyline Cefiro Laurel Gloria Cima if stagea want to come - you can if there's anything i've forgotten ... put it this way.. your car must be a Nissan Sedan, "golden era" (no Vseries, sorry!!!) stay tuned in this thread for more details and meet points. at this point - all that's confirmed is there is a cruise on augsut 14 in further news. there is to be no foolish behaviour. this means. no burnouts. no drifts. no rev limiter ping testing. no speeding. it is a CRUISE so that we can all meet n greet and enjoy driving our silly cars with our shiny wheels i would appreciate it if you'd all give your cars a wash because there will probably be a lot of photos enjoy yourselves
  12. buy my cefiro then you HAVE seen it haven't you? i'm organising a nissan golden era 4 door cruise for the 14th of aUgust, you should join! post count - wasteland doesn't count haha.. no seriously i contribute as much as i can with the knowledge i have - and yes i try to twist in a bit of humour here n there back on topic - autoworx completely covered this topic - if you're doing DIY... it's best to splurge out on the parts... that makes it easier in the long run.. working those extra few hours at coles or saving that extra week for an intercooler will be a godsend when you "put it on" and everything just WORKS without any bending / cutting / repairing / destorying / accidentally supergluing your fingers together etc
  13. seeing as you're actually asking for COMMENTS (not just a "yes / no" answer - i will be too glad to offer my thoughts on the V36!! however i guess the saying that would apply to what i'm about to say is "don't throw if you live in a glass house" (coming from an A31 cefiro / zz30 soarer driver) my opinoin - the old old skylines, were great for their time, but they were far surpassed by the R32.. the R32 was a landmark model for nissan, incorporating the RB series engine, HICAS, ATESSA, and all nissan's amazing high tech sports ideas rolled into ONE CAR. and this graduated onto the iconic R34 skyline. but nissan fell a lot financially during the production of these cars... nissan had to do something drastic. they created a new model skyline - the V35. while skyline purists CRINGED at it's smooth non-bothersome styling which completely destroyed the legacy that the R34 left.. there was no denying that the V35 skyline was a grown ups car. it was a new chassis platfrom, new engine, new interior. everything from the ground up was a different car to what the world was expecting. since 2001, in my eyes the styling cues of the V35 - while provocative for it's time.. has definitely aged ungracefully. the headlights look atrocious when yellowed. the stock body can look VERY plain if left to get dirty - nine years after its debut, it's styling is no where near as iconic as the R chassis skylines.. the V36 however - is a finer refinement of the V35. they've taken the road that the V35 was walking on. and have landed it to the destination that the V35 was trying to reach. i see the V35 as a blander - less aggressive styled FairladyZ. the V36 however - has restored the anger that people EXPECT from a skylines styling. the headlights look more menacing, the tail lights have more "whip" to them. it's a more sinister car than it's predecessor... yet - the V36 retains the class and elegance that the V35 was heading toward... and drives THAT aspect home, too... the REAL test for the V36, will be how people see it as the years go by - the question of will there be development and aftermarket following is sure to decide it's fate as years go by... for that - i wish the V36 the best of luck... i personally like it.. maybe that's because i'm 24 and i'm growing up..
  14. please tell me that you are joking. you cannot be serious. Rowan is not a veteran in the game at all. :| Rowan is a 24 year old schmuck who trawls SAU all day and THINKS he knows everything (but he doesn't know jack sh1t). autoworx, hyperdrive, importmonster, ironchef, J-Spec, C-RED, Kensei Garage, CroydonMS etc - these people (and anybody that i've forgotten) are veterans... ...not me =/ but i would like to say thankyou, that's actually the third complement i've received this week!!! ps - do not EVER listen to Rowan's advice. Rowan's advice is the WORST kind of advice.
  15. quick interjection from rowan! buy chinese ebay! pay $400 cheap cheap! pay $500 in fabrication and fitment for piping and parts that don't fit! yay! buy greddy / trust / blitz!! pay $800 and have everything fit straight up! (i'm just saying - you buy cheap, you buy twice)
  16. Monster's on leave for this week and maybe a bit longer - he's worked himself raw!!! but if he WAS here right now... the monster would give examples SOMETHING along the lines of... Work Schwert SC 2 machine face F: 9J x 20 OFF+25 R: 10J x 20 OFF+28 114.3x5H another set - SC 2 but this time white finish with reverse rim VARIANZA T1S SSR VIENNA!!! that's IF the monster was here... he'd say something like that keep in touch for estimates and the likes
  17. so that we stay on topic - i say just coilovers and rims. if you want jap rims - PM me. ie: PM me for SSR / volk / work / rays / riverside etc coilovers has been covered, get new if you want new - get 2nd hand if you want second hand OFF topic - Tritty you said that "these things tend to be endless money pits"... i resent that comment!!! think about it.. you spend what, 36grand on a brand new commodore?? own it for 5 years, it's worth 6 grand. that car has depreciated nearly 30 grand. that car has COST you 30 grand - before taking into consideration the servicing, parts, and (if you go this route) modification i was thinking the other day, actually. i'm purely addicted to imports. my cefiro has probably cost me about 12 -14 grand in the six years i've owned it. it gets FAR more "street" attention than ANY equally priced new car.. in the "best of both worlds" thread... i worked out a budget of about 25 grand to build a vertex lexus GS300 (keep in mind this is actually a 2000 build lexus gs300 aka jzs160 aristo) ~25K budget gets you: a 2000 lexus gs300 a single turbo convert 2JZ motor from JDM aristo bodykit rims vertex current model GS300 face update. you get THAT MUCH class all wrapped up in a ~650HP car. for ~25K so to say modifying old cars is a money pit - is a load of rubbish it's FAR more rewarding, fun, exciting and sociable than owning a brand new car =) on topic - use this post as motivation... yes it's a money pit - but think about how LITTLE you paid for the car... you OWE it some work VS KF!!!
  18. bubba - speaking REALISTICALLY i wouldn't do a 3L / 1uzfe conversion to a stagea - it'd be too hard to engineer! extend your budget further and get a crown wagon 1UZFE already inside. heck yeah! oh and to amend my aristo fetish.. seeing as i allowed myself 25K to build the car - i figure i could stretch the budget to a current model GS300 hang on a second.. it's still an aristo vertex GS300 front end conversion ... could still be done for about 25K i reckon... 650HP luxo beast with GS300 front. STILL cheaper tan a comodore!!!
  19. back on topic... i'm going to go ahead and stick to a budget of UNDER 25 grand. k? i would PERSONALLY take a 2001 - 2005 Lexus GS300 (getting VERY cheap i must say - can be had for around 9/10K!!!!) then... engine out. replace it with it's JDM stablemate 2JZgte if time / budget permits - may as well switch to big single while i'm at it - i mean hey, i only paid 9 grand for the car, right? it's not depreciating anywhere in a hurry so why not do something stupid like a big single!! budget would now probably have blown out between 13K 15K leaving me with 10 grand for rice.. wheels and bodykits and FUSA knots and curtains and those things that the kids like these days.. soooooooooo 650hp at my foot while i chill out in THIS interior would leave me change from 25K. thoughts? EDIT - rb26 kpgc 10 would be too hardcore to drive daily. i would imagine the kpgc10 to rattle my teeth out as a daily - coupled with a HUGE rb26 motor in that tiny car i honestly doubt i'd enjoy it... bubba's stagea - yes. but i wouldn't put a 3L in it - again i'd be happy with the 2.5ltr... MAYBE i'd go VQ series for smoothness... but me personally i'm still sticking to my toyota love. 2JZgte jzs160!
  20. Socrates - i apologise on behalf of la bomba. this has turned into an absolute shit fight of a thread - will ALL of you PLEASE stop this crap? it's NOT EVEN FUNNY and SAU DOES NOT WELCOME IT.. socrates - i know this sounds silly.. but ever since you said you want to come on the fourdoor cruise in mid august... i've been keen on seeing your car have you got any nice pics of it that you can upload here so that i can see?? and also to shut la bomba up with his cocky attitude? c210's are amazing. then after that can we PLEASE get back on topic?
  21. *ahem* i have something i've prepared to say... ...i have had cefiro for six years. been RB20DE+T for 4 years. never had a problem with it. engine still retains free rev. engine still retains high compression (which i think combats lack of torque) and because i went purely for standard (small) RB20 turbo bits and only mod being the R34 SMIC - my car runs GREAT boost hits about 2.5K (or i think - it's VERY VERY early in the power band) it's VERY responsive it's VERY quick it sounds more angry than 20DET everyone that's come to buy my car has test driven it and has said that under acceleration it's FAR more impressive than a standard RB20det, (i wouldn't know i have never driven one) but yeah personally i think RB is the best option for cefiro - i never defend it cos when i do i get flamed but personally - my engine runs EXCELLENT. it has been known to slay R33 rb25det, so i'm over the moon about that.
  22. Rowan is online Mood: disappoint Blame: Shan.
