  1. shut UP baron!!!! I KNOW I SHOULD"VE BID MORE FOR IT!!!! *cries* haha i have recurring stress dreams from letting it go... mind you this was literally the second day i had started even STARTING to study auctions - if i had any idea how much it was worth i would've thrown my hate in the ring for it my situation is as follows (sorry to derail subject) before i paid my service fee to commit my agent - SO MANY creamy delicious soarers coming through, single turbo, Lpackages, all colours, nice rims already etc etc, not high km... then the MINUTE i paid my service fee.. that black one i described came up - i had no idea how much to bid for it so i bidded modestly... and lost out... the broker in question and myself both agreed that it's "not to worry that's just ONE CAR... not to worry, there's PLENTY more fish in the sea!!! soarers come up like this ALL THE TIME .. right? wrong. that was going back two months ago... there WAS heaps of desirable JZZ30's coming through... since that black one went through two months back... there has been ONE... that's right... ONE JZZ30 that went through that took my fancy... was a 2000 final build white GT-T Lpackage.. was ready to go the big day came to place my bid AAAAAAAAAAAND turns out no RAWS workshops have the evidence package for the 2000 soarer GT-T latest i can attain is 1999... so that one fell through also... since then i keep checking and nothing's come up - subsequently the 2000 built soarer was purchased by a dealer so - i'm getting a few cars from japanese dealers checked out.. dunno if anything will come of it though cos i doubt these dealers will sell to gaijin! btw - the white 2000 can be found at this link here click it if you want and trust me - i've been looking for soarers for MONTHS... like literally MONTHS AND MONTHS now... i was told repeatedly "buy in austrlaia" the only VVTI turbos in aus are selling for anywhere between 14K - 20K that's BEFORE transit to WA... and are in very poor condition IMO
  2. well - can't win the lotto if you don't buy a ticket! never know... someone may be asleep when the black GTR of your dreams goes through... and you could get it for the same price as a white one!!!
  3. noooooooooooooooo marlin - you're getting mixed up with WHITE!!!!! well - i'm obviously not as seasoned as baron, however... i can honestly say black cars do tend to fetch a premium... it's not that they "fetch a premium" it's just supply and demand... like with all auctions really for example... currently as we speak i'm searching for a 97-99 vvti single turbo Soarer, being that these cars are now considered older cars, nobody in japan wants them... and australia has the stigma that soarers are smelly old uninteresting twin turbos... which is why i want a special one... because this way i can get a car that surpasses many newer imports... but because there's lack of interest from japanese and australian bidders,i figure i can get one at a steal, right? with the soarer for instance - there's only really a handfull that come through auction, because most have been sold overseas OR most people just hold onto them... and of that handfull... nobody seems to pick them up or bid for them, so that handfull keeps coming back thru auction... it's frustrating for me as a buyer wading thru all the poo mobiles.. but that's neither here nor there... point i'm making is - a few months ago there was a black soarer... Lpackage, sunroof, gps, tv, woodgrain, black interior, gold 18" BBS LM (or work VSxx, couldn't see from auction pics) and i was like "oh wow i'll def bid on that - i bid 500K cos nobody wants soarers LOL" ...that soarer went for 800K... which in retrospect, isn't THAT much money... but 800K for a black soarer, when the white / silver ones won't even get bid on in the first place... this displays the gulf difference between a colour that "people want" and a colour that isn't popular the less popular colours go for obviously a lower price - it's for this reason that a good 80-90% of soarers in australian car sales yards showing 40,000km are "forrest green" - becuase they're cheap. you never see black, red, sapphire, or any of the "rarer" colours in dealer lots! same premise applies here for GTR EDIT: that black soarer was a manual too... so to clarify.. it was black - great condition.. gold BBS LM 18" modestly lowered manual with torsen LSD satnav / GPS (uselss in aus but still cool) woodgrain dash (factory, not tacky stick on) 1999 built single turbo VVTI 2.5 ltr immaculate interior 114 km genuine km with service history... ...since then NOTHING decent has come across... wish i got that one...
  4. 10 years in the game and im STILL grindin. and see? the dude knows his stuff... even i learned a lot in those last few posts - but the chain lube stuff being crap - don't agree with that... i personally use "EPIC RIDE" (i got it because it said it was EPIC) and that works better than what i used to have and - marc - tell that to my dad. he's got a Giant TCR and cleans it with WD-40!
  5. ugh... i'm going to hell for posting this ... but look, marc!!!! a TEAL DEER cmonnnn you gotta admit that was a little bit funny... but yes - marc speaks the absolute truth... he knows his stuff
  6. ^^^ when i read this - i literally lost it! i was just thinking of some guy minding his own business at work (wasn't this at work??) and some random guy pulling into his work n going off at him and then the OP just DROPS his work n charges at the guy making this gnarly un-necessary haymaker hahaha seems funnier in my head.
  7. hahahaha awwwww us kids and our bikes! lol ok well first up - tl; dr. (kidding) there's a chance your chain may be a bit dry and need to be lubed up with PROPER chain lube... but reality is - you only been on a few rides, the metal teeth are sharp, chain isn't worn in, it's not "at it's peak" yet where'd u buy the bike from? most perth shops are pretty competitive with the whole "one year of free servicing" but that A) depends on where you bought the bike and B) I wouldn't be suprised if they offer a year of free servicing on a bike that was so inexpensive... BUT if they offer free servicing, they offer free servicing... the gears WON'T be smooth for the first few months, and as that lady told you - how often do you REALLY need to change gears? that's why i only have one gear =) NIX - shorts with padding in the bottom for sissies. =P tyres are maxxis Xenith, google em! they will fit on your 26" wheel, no worries... come round some time n try em out, worse case scenario you don't like em and i just hold onto em. no biggie! cleated pedals - makes more or a difference with say - a fixed gear bike... where there's NO freewheeling motion or backpedalling, but yeah - giant make a kit which just screws onto the "OEM" pedals if that makes sense... works okay... i suggest while you're pretty much learing - just keep the toes free... imagine this falling off a bike... off the side of a gravel hill, say... your feet leap off the pedals, you land "Sort of" on your feet, and kinda save a lot of injury or falling off bike.. off the side of a gravel hill, say... and your feet are strapped in the pedals and attached to the bike so you fall flat on your face and the bike lands on top of you... it sucks. but it's a reality that does happen to the best of us when learning
  8. 25GTT - my tyres are still sitting here man - they're waiting for you taking up space in my house... and they work real good like! u know you want em! and widebody180 there will be no "war" he's just a rude little piece of shit. i'm not going to reply to his blatant trolling attempts. btw - that pic was posted a few pages bak. wasn't funny then either... 25GTT as for your seat caning your arse... that's largely due to rider position, think about it... on a mountain bike you sit upright, the saddle is naturally wider... all your weight and force from your torso is pressed down onto your seat... whereas on a road bike, you're leant forwards, distributing your weight between the saddle, handlebars, pedals etc more evely, putting less pressure on the arse. the SDG bel air is a cheapish saddle (70 odd RRP) that will cure your butt pain.. but then again - you just started riding - you're going to get a sore bottom for the first few weeks. but yeah... if the pain isn't fading or it's not comfortable... just upgrade really
  9. ^^^this but also it takes like 10 mins to change a set of tyres over - faster if you know what you are doing! also take your seat off for weight reduction
  10. not to discredit xalmon - and seriously to re-iterate this is not to discredit xalmon... nor is it to discredit 25GTT but you paid 500 for the bike... with helmet included... not to say you got a bad bike - i mean, you got a good buy there... but ... you do mostly get what you pay for... not to say that this bike isn't good - cos i'm sure it is! but... buy cheap... buy twice... you start upgrading the fork... you stat upgrading the rims... you start upgrading the frame, etc etc .. you end up spending more money than if you would've just BOUGHT a higher spec'd bike my advice is... (this is my personal advice, you dont have to take it on board) but my advice is just call this one for what it is - your first bike and you use it to learn on and work out "what it is" that you want in a bike... i've only been riding for what, 2 and a half / 3 years and i'm only third setup... (that sounds materialistic - i had a giant rincon MTB first, fork exploded in my face on a dodgy mechanical fault. swapped it on manufacurer's waaranty and got bike number 2 - giant alias. rode that for literally three months - it's a hardcore ride... then i got my cannondale single speed) that's the bike for me infact - DAMMIT man if you had've spoken up before i would've sold you my Alias!!!!! prob for same price or cheaper than your apollo!!! but yeah - don't bother upgrading hardware, cos it's just gonna get out of hand - just enjoy this bike until you're sure about what riding style you are, what you're doing it for, what you enjoy etc etc... and as a side note - most guys wanna do the tough "i ride a mountain bike on the road cos i dont wanna ride a poofy road bike with pizza cutter tyres" etc etc... take a road bike / single speed for a ride... there's a reason mountian bikes are for off road and road bikes are for speed. bikes are very purpose built machines... a mtb will never keep up with a road bike or track bike on the road, same as a road bike won't offroad like an mtb will! just put some road slick on cos no point riding around on low PSI tractor tyes which will result in tree trunk legs and wasted energy - and it's takes so long to commute - esp if you're riding to work every day so yeah just enjoy this bike while you can - eventually you'll realise you want another bike - so use this time to work out what you want and save your money! now get out there and enjoy yourself! EDIT: fk you, Alvin!
  11. yo i'm from perth too. central east suburbs. if you work in the city and want a riding partner to ride and motivate with i'd be keen as shit. meet at bayswater station any day man, up for it? also happy to go out on the odd social ride with you if you want - around the bridges is good for speed training but it's VERY flat. as for bike upgrades - for that particular bike... the cheapest upgrade will also be the most effective in this case... ...get yourself some slicks... i have a pair, near new, they're completely slick, sticky as hell esp on the sides for leaning and turning... maxxis xenith i think they are... they're lightweight, functional, and are suprisingly safe in the wet... you can have the pair for 50 bucks man, which is close to half price... i work in east perth so yeah brb i'll go check the condition officially... ok checked. the front is 100% ear is good... but a few scuffs from skids from when i was a little shit 40 for the pair... still less than one retail tyre really if you read this in time and live near bayswater area come over i'll fit em up for ya. you'll REALLY notice the difference
  12. omg... that's nice that you thought of me... but upon first glance... i see no rear brake... silly and un-necessary depth on the rim (that sort of depth A) creates weight, and B) would catch cross winds! also the front cog is tiny... i doubt you'd generate much speed out of it. not that speed matters when you're rolling 700x28/30c tyres that bloat... frame looks like a TANK and the fork looks like rubbish... and why the shit does the frame look like an early 1990's MTB frame?!?! like - it's cool cos it's something different.. but this bike is strictly aimed at the crowd of fixie riders who like to do tricks on them... i personally think this is a silly product personally... but a bike company's gotta do what a bike company's gotta do i guess! but my god... what a very usless product.
  13. bahahaha - good point, i'm just going on by what i heard - maybe that's applicable to second hand tyres i'm thinking of?
  14. for me - short answer is somewhat slow but very tolerable... long answer is... when i'm scouring your site for cars, it can 5-10 secs wait for a page to load isn't exactly the fastest thing on the face of the earth. but! take into consideration that the site has to "skim" so many japanese sites. translate auction data and scour so many different documents and databases from the MILLIONS of results it has to search through... i really can't complain.. especially considering the site is free to view... which brings me to my next suggestion. you guys should consider an "online tip jar" / "donations" option. can be done easilly with paypal. i know they're annoying but i personally would happily donate over credit card to you guys.. this site is a mecca for all things imports, not JUST the cars that are avail. but also the information and help you guys provide which make everything CLEAR - which is a much needed thing given that SEVS is a fairly confusing process.. so that's my suggestion... you guys deserve to be thanked and rewarded for the hours, effort, knowledge and infrastruture you have created, and shared. ...all you guys do actually... i won't name you all individually because i WILL end up forgetting a name or two. but you all know who you are!
  15. get some new rims. seriously. consider it. or buy the GTR a present. like a big fat turbo or give it a fresh coat of black paint or something of that nature... you're clearly not ready to move on. go outside and look at it. see if you're ready to be rid of it!
  16. personally - @ swiper the fox... i'd rather that toyota didn't bring in their "import" cars. i would RATHER have to import to drive a chaser. toyota is bringing in the "ruckus" (toyota bB) in 4 weeks time for sale. and i can bet you it will be priced well out of reach for it's target market... toyota will be pissed that the likes of iron chef or phil or aaron or cubecars etc can import and comply and register the iconic nissan cube for about 15 grand happily making a healthy coin for themselves as profit when the toyota bB van (ruckus) is going to be priced at about 10 grand more for a base model. either way. there's no way that SEVS can get any worse. so nothing will come of this!
  17. shan - the MINUTE the site went up i PM'd you... feel free to flick that as feedback over the craig. it's amazing even at my work i have people coming up to me and talking to me about it - which is weird, but i'm not kidding. people at my work actually come up and say "omg have you seen the new jspec site?" Seems you guys have been bouncing around the internet like a beach ball at a Nickelback concert!!!
  18. ^^^^ wat he said but i'd also like to add that if you ARE to import tyres into australia. they must be mounted onto wheels. so don't think "man i'm gonna get a steal on some 80 dollar nangkangs! uh-hyuk" cos it won't happen just pay for tyres and include tem in your budget n be miserable and poor like the rest of us. =)
  19. hey Insurey McInsurance. what's with you and insurance? what if the ship sinks? really? very very remote chance of that happening... there is higher chance of the ship being boarded by pirates and hijacked
  20. haha - yeah, do this if you want to, nobody's going to stop you really... just be aware that it will cause many headache for you to drive on roads is all
  21. the obvious answer to the point i raised is "just get it engineered, cops can't touch you" and kieth - went thru a booze bus and got a sticker... you think that's a rarity? you've seen the condition of my cefiro... so you know how it is... yet everytime i go thru a boozebus, i get my car checked over - obviously i haven't had any yellows in the last two years HOWEVER that could change tonight for all i know - it comes with the territory of owning a cefiro... you haven't been pulled over in the cefiro, because cops run your plates upon initial contact - see your car car has a yellow and feel no need to pull you over - because you already HAVE a yellow. my /OPINION/ still stands. that you have an orange cefiro, which is eye catching and unique... let me run this scenario by you ..booze bus... 1130 pm Graham Farmer Freeway *blowing into pipe* "yep, you're sober mate, just pull over to the right there and just wait for further instruction" "ok" "raise the bonnet, what engine is this?" "that's an LS1, it's engineered" "oh really? you got it engineered? well hot dawg.. why didn't you say so? HEY EVERYBODY!!! IT'S OKAY HE'S GOT IT ENGINEERED, Sorry Driver, Have a goot night" OR ..booze bus... 1130pm graham farmer freeway *blowing into pipe* "yep, you're sober mate, just pull over to the right there and just wait for further instruction" "ok" "raise the bonnet, what engine is this?" "that's an LS1, it's engineered" "Yeah mate, heard that one... lotta blokes forge these documents... just wait over there while we just check your vehicle" "but I - -" "Sir, just wait by the side while we perform our inspections" i'm saying this, why? i'm nearly 25. i've owned a cef for nearly six years. i know how police work. from both sides of the coin from both driver and law. as nic said. they don't need any reason to defect you. they just DO. you having a defect isn't their problem. it's yours and the dept of transport's. modification permits. engineers certificates. ADR documents and the likes can easilly be forged. and police don't give a rats arse if you drive around with a piece of paper in your glovebox. i thinik this conversion would be cool to have bragging rights at the track and at the drags and such... ...but for driving on the WA roads... you'd have to be the sort that gets off on self harm..
  22. here's some fun facts i would like to shoot your way you have a cefiro. you have an ORANGE cefiro. the police have pulled you and that car over numerous times and it will flag on their scanner as "one to watch" (nothing against you personally. that's the way things go. police run your plate and the screen says "inspect". police go inspect the car. you add an LS1 into that equation. now you have a cefiro (red flag to police) that's orange (eye catching to the police) with a history from previous owners (immediate pop up on their systems) and an LS1 conversion for when they look under the bonnet... really? that's the car you want to drive in? you want to do something unique for a cefiro that's a street car why don't you do something unique like make it look nicer by giving it a clean or fixing dodgy parts on it to give police less reasons to defect your car... or get it to run like a decent car ie fix the clutch rather than spending thousands of dollars on an extremely difficult thankless engine conversion... i mean really, imagine trying to sell that.. ls1 converted cefiro... i wouldn't be buying it... =/ sorry to sound like a prick but fools and their money will soon part ways my friend... you wanna drive this car on the road? i advise against this conversion. edit: dude you have a cefiro... they don't get much more "unique" than a cefiro.
  23. ...guys this is sooooo not fair. kris least you could have done is not said "plots getting thicker" now - rather than thinking "hmm nobody cares about this guy" we now know people DO care - and people HAVE done stuff and we ALL WANNA KNOW but we cant out and i wanna know so bad!!!! but - remember, naming is against forum rules argh - greg - from what little i know - "advised not to get an inspection" sorry to hear about this man, that sucks... i really do feel for ya... *bro hug* sad part is - everything's pretty much been covered in these few posts... you CANT register it, you CANT comply it... you CANT re-shell it... and... that's all there really is to it! BUT when you're in a hole... you CAN dig up... ..which i hope you DO.
