  1. personally I think stretched out tyres look retarded, but both those sizes will do the job. 245 will fit a bit better.
  2. Let me know if you need the alignment & weight jacking set up for you. My old man has very accurate scales & alignment gear. Plus a wealth of knowledge & heaps of experience with race car set ups. We used to have the best handling HQ is aus!
  3. hay B.J. did you get any shots of the HQ of Gary Bonwick car # 1? He was up the front of the pack.
  4. We had ours very well sorted handling wise, & I was one of the few who could hold it pretty well flat through there. I had a big moment one time comming off skyline, where I was trying a later braking point. definently didnt pay off! Flat out through the chase was a thrill, but my fav part tho was the dipper. ahhh good times...
  5. I have been arount the mountian a few times, only in a HQ race car tho! dam good fun. When is lakeside opening up again? I would like to get involved, as thats where I cut my teeth on bitumen racing years ago.
  6. If you modify the rim it will be substantialy weakend. that too is illegal. bolt on spacers are perfectly safe to use as you still have all the stud length in use. If you have to have those wheels, its the only way to go. what you have now sounds like, you are running out of thread length, which is a recepie for disaster. a rule of thumb to use is, the same length of thread to be used as the diameter of the stud. So on a skyline the studs are 12mm diameter, so the nut must screw on at least 12mm. any less & it is unsafe.
  7. That isnt a good idea! get the same OD front & rear.
  8. They dont fit "all skylines" I tried some on a 33 gtst & they just hit the calipers. Needless to add all the 4 stud skylines out there as well......
  9. If you dont mind breaking the law use bolt on spacers. If you want to keep it legal use different wheels.
  10. there not bad at all. I have E11v2 in my gtr & it runs a treat, cold start & everything. I get 400 ks to a tank too on town driving with 340 odd hp I think thats pretty good.
  11. My old man is there atm with one of the HQs. they are only a support class, but they have 2 grids worth of cars! The car he is there with qualified on 2nd pos, dont know how he went today tho. Kind of makes me wish I had my HQ still! I raced there years ago in it, & had a blast. Didnt do too bad either considering there was about 150 HQs there. I got up to 2nd place with 2 laps to go, gaining on the leader, then broke a distributor wire! finished 25th. spewin.
  12. I am curious how you mated the sump / diff to the rb30 block? did you modify the block or sump? Have you rigged up any oil squirters for the bottom of the pistons? I have seen a 30 block modified to suit gtr sump before, but it was a bit experimental & costly.
  13. I'm not racing this year. The car hasnt changed at all, hardly gets used actually coz I'm starting to build a house etc. I am setting up (suspension & alignment) a 32 GTR for gatton. It is a pretty serious one from what I can gather too, Its got a sequential box & stroker too I think. I will be there to see how it goes, so I'l come n say gday.
  14. It seems kind of criminal to strip such a nice car. I know its all in the name of speed tho!
  15. Hey, I only just found this thread. Do you remember me? I am the guy with the GTR covered in Falken stickers. I raced at Maryborough & gatton. Are you comming to gatton this year?
  16. Michelins are one of the more expensive tyres to buy, but handle excelent, & last heap longer than most others, so work out to be good value all round.
  17. Not really. Thanks for the offer tho.
  18. It could be a number of things. Its obviously something in the rotating parts of the rear end, but you wont find the answer on here! Take it to a mechanic who can listen to it on the road and on a hoist to pinpoint it. CV, Bearing, something in the brakes or tyre, tailshaft..... all of these are suspects
  19. yeah, dont go to the cheapest, go to the best!
  20. Get a wheel alignment!
  21. If you just got new wheels they should have been balanced. dont let them sell you balances again if you dont need them.
  22. inner guard
