Hi,
Recently, I purchased a 2010 Nissan Dualis (FWD). The vehicle was being sold by a panel beater who had purchased the car as a repairable write off and carried out the repairs himself. I was aware of this right from the start and asked to see pictures of the damage. The seller showed me pictures of the damage and and it was insignificant. I made the mistake of not taking the car for a long test drive. Anyway, driving home in the vehicle after the sale was finalised I noticed a whirring/humming noise coming from the front LH side. This noise was particularly noticeable when the car was doing speeds of 75-90kms.
My Dad is mechanically minded so I took him for a drive in the car. His thoughts were that it was the front LH wheelbearing. I rang the seller who told me that both LH and RH wheelbearings had been replaced and the parts were taken from a Nissan Dualis (Stat Write Off) with only 13,000kms, so he was certain there was no problem with the wheelbearings. He asked me to get my local Nissan dealership to provide their opinion. I took the car to my local Nissan dealership and the mechanic advised that he thought the problem was the LH wheel bearings. I booked the car in and they replaced the left side wheelbearings. This did not fix the problem. My Dad has replaced the whole left side drive shaft which hasn't made any difference.
Does anybody have any ideas on what the problem could be?
I should also point out that the tyres have plenty of tread and have been switched around to make sure that they are not the problem.
