cant run in top gear? the reason they normally do it in 4th is cos its the closest 1:1 gear ratio, doing it in third is like 1:1.3 or whatever and would give more torque and readings of more power. remember, power is relative to torque, and gears manipulate torque.. and why was it in america? thats an lj torana, did you ship the whole car there or just the engine or what? defo a nice run, though..

you could image the amount of kids that would rather learn in a turbo whatever then a ford festiva (as i did! ) when it comes to picking driving schools.. even a turbo astra or something (can think of other smaller cars with turbos) would be cooler to a student then an excel..

i got to drive to school for half the year when i got my car. i bunged up old lh torana. at least it was a 3litre, had *some* guts. looked like a real heap though. one of the first few days i drove it in, this other girl driving her mum excel or something says 'hey shaun is that even road worthy?' and i was like of cos! ya stupid idiot..., that last part was only thought though. i didnt even really know her and shes commenting on MY car? damn her. damn her i say.

Picked Up My Car Friday! :):):)
krush replied to sidewazegtst's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
it was like that, they cut that rule at the start of this year when the gov realised how many imports were coming in and thought it was taking away from the local car market. thats my understanding anyhow. -
where were you a few months ago when i was having trouble finding that exact sensor? everywhere i asked didnt know know why i couldnt find it? i didnt have one! came across is at a jap wreckers while looking for something else and thought hey i dont have that! oh wells..

hi all, for awhile now im r32 gts4t gearbox has been grinding while going into forth if done harshly, yet slots in nicely if i just ease it in and let it slide in itself. it also has a grinding sound, at slightly different pitch in each gear/neutral which has kinda gotten louder. its starting to feel a little worse lately, even though i dont thrash the thing. basically i dont drive it that hard, im not really thinking to upgrade anymore (maybe just a bigger turbo over the stock one, but nothing outragious), and i actually dont drive it that much now, as i recently bought a motorbike to get around on. my girlfriend drives it more then me and shes quite a feather foot. should i maybe, just get it opened and fix the sychro, get a new box all together and sell what i could of the old one, go the extra bit and get a gtr box for peace of mind, or even go the rb25 box and go rwd all the time? defeats teh purpose of the 4wd, though, which id rather keep. not to mention ive heard its bad for the front axel to be run in rwd all the time. any help would be appreciated! shaun.

hello, ive looked around, found tutorials on how to remove the brake pads, then the calipers, but then.. whats next? also checked in the r32 gtr service manual, couldnt find anything about the studs, only the brake pads. my car is r32 gts4 turbo, one i get the caliper off, is there much more to it? im guessing id have to take out the centre pin, unscrew something and perhaps the middle hub would fall off, gaining my access to the studs? any help would be greatly appreciated thanks thanks, shaun.

with the bonnet, i recently done just what you want. cut the lip off with an angel grinder, covered the exposed metal so it wouldnt rust, and cover with a gtr lip piece. at the jap wreckers here it was $350 for a gtr bonnet which had a dint and huge scratched dint in it. my $100 gts bonnet in perfect condition with lip grind off works just as well. pic can be found here http://members.optusnet.com.au/damage/boos...ll_Sv402956.jpg

ive got a full exhaust from turbo back, cat back is 4inch, and ive got this huge muffler on it and youd barely know its not stock. even has a 5inch tip on it. the only time its loud is when i put hte loud pedal down and it starts growling up the revs... driving normally i can hear the intake noise more louder. as for power, the basic mods i have im apparently getting pretty good power..so, yeh..

when i done it on my 32, i got a small drill bit, stenciled the outline of the hole, and went to work. it was quite time comsuming. got tin snips to get all the left over little bts still holding it. cleaned up the jagged edges with grinders line drill bit, and to cover it right up, got a 10mm plastic pipe, like a hose or something, slit it long ways, and then fitted it over around the edge.

R32 Gtst Front Grill - Two Types?
krush replied to patto1234's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
from what i understand, theres two standard grills. GTS/GTSt/GTS4 grills is the one with the bonnet lip coming down. the fins style is the GTR. GTR grills on nonGTR cars is a bit of a swapsies issue, where you need the bonnet, bonnet latch, grill, and grill mounts. the GTR grill screws onto these little mounts on the headlights. apparently the nonGTR cars headlights dont come with these mounts. i dont know whether someone has made mounts for these grills for the headlights without, or you have to get the right headlights, or you can simply rig up your own mounts, but thats how it goes. hope that helps, shaun. -
my 32 done the same. i had cat back exhaust at first. i finished it off with a turbo back system and defo felt more gains, esp midrange to top end. still same boost though. then put a fmic on. at first it *still* dropped the boost. but now, for whatever reason, it holds a steady 12psi... no controller or anything. i think its just normal. many posts on here saying that drop boost (even me! ) s.

my mate had an rb20det dropped into his auto VL. said it was $2000 for r32 rb20det front cut, and roughly $2000 for labour, drive in drive out deal. this is the only story ive ever heard, so going by my mate story, your price seems near on track. i dont know any more about his dealings or that with the job. this was rb20 by the way, if you are getting rb25 in your r32 cut, sounds like an even better deal! s.

Which Turbo To Get Rb25det Still Use Same Manifold
krush replied to Leigh's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
hey someone will say it, but if you search you might find answers quicker and more informative through the numerous posts of this topic, then waiting for a few single people to reply. search button for the win s. -
hey all, was wondering if anyone gave a go or had a look to see if grinding the lip off of the gtst bonnet would be enough to be fitted onto a gtr front r32. reason being, my 32 has a gtr front, my bonnet is bent, and some of the prices for another gtr bonnet are quite high. i have all the latches and grill and lip cover (to cover up the grinded bit), but is there much modifying to get the latch hook onto the gtst bonnet? with my current bent bonnet, i think its quite heavy to be made outta aluminium, and under the lip cover looks a bit dodgy as if it actually is a gtst ground off, but the screws are so rusted i cant unscrew them to have a look. hope someone can tell me! shaun (done a search, mostly came up with straight 'can it fit' and answers of 'no different latch' )

i was down Asian Autospares (just near Moss st) and he had an rb25neo turbine there. he wanted $750 for it (without water/oil lines, but he says i can use the rb20 ones?). i thought thats a bit expensive, but, whats your opinion? it actually looked rather bigger then th rb20 turbos he had down there.. shaun.

Low Power For R32 Gts-t (dyno Graph Included)
krush replied to Lithius's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
my r32 peaks at 12psi, but drops to 9psi by the time i get to 5000rpm. i was told theres a restriction in my intake path (most likely intercooler) but now that ive got a fmic, it still does it. i dont know what the problem is. but youre not alone! although, my car made 145kw with cat back, pod and standard intercooler, so in my opinion something sounds a bit out for your car s. -
okidokies, well i have a full exhaust now, and it does feel more powerful and responsive (especially mid range for both), but also at the same time, feels its holding back a little. the intercooler is 600x300c75. boost also still drops off top end. i thought it was the stock -restrctive- intercooler that caused this. still doing it. makes me wonder if theres something restrictive in the new setup. i might throw it on a dyno, im thinking theres too much little things to figure out by explaining it all :( thanks very much for the input people, greatly appreciated. shaun.

sorry sorry, i also have a podfilter, cat back exhaust, (batmbl dumppipe is going on as i type this), iridiums (gapped at 0.8 if that makes any difference), running stock boost (which peaks 12 and settles at 9psi). it feels like i had better performance with the smic on a cold night then i do with the fmic on a cold night. s.

hey all, over the passed weekend i installed an intercooler kit myself in my r32. a few dramas but it went in alright. the problem now is that it doesnt feel any better, even somewhat worse. after a drive i feel the end tanks of the intercooler, the intake being hot'ish and the outlet being very cool, so im sure the air is actually going through it, and theres a noticable amount more lag, but it feels asthough its lost a bit of power. i used to be able to chirp second (gts4) but cant even do that now. that might not be the best measurement of power, but from everyone thats installed an intercooler, theyve said theres a noticeable difference, even my mechanic mentioned one he isntalled on an auto had it spinning first whereas it couldnt prior to the install. can anyone think of maybe some common problems, something i may have overlooked, something this or that? im sure everythings on right. shaun.

im in a similar situation as you, stock dump/front and huge cat back exhaust. had a look around and saw BATMBL's pipe. looks just as good as any other and got him to ship one to me just last week. will hopefully be getting it put on this week. honestly i was quite surprized at the quality. i was so excited i showed my mate and even he was amazed at what i got for the price i paid. i cant wait to get it on!

Intercooler Kit, Need To Cut Front Bar?
krush replied to krush's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
well i kinda just fixed a bit of my own problem. the passenger side pipe, i shortened the rubber hose connected it from engine bay -> front wheel pipes a bit, and it dragged it up and the cooler back a bit. still had to trim a bit off the front bars inner hole thing, where it goes back a little, to make it fit with the pipe behind there. if only that pipe was angled back a few more degrees it wouldnt have needed trimming. but i suppose restrections are more important! the drivers side, is now way off. the U pipe going from intercooler -> newly cut hole below the battery, is roughl 2.5" too long. with this side i pulled the cooler back and screwed it back to the mounting points i had before, and now its too far back. ive been hesitating to just cut a 2.5" section of the straight out, and clamp it back up, which looking to be the only way to fit it. just worried if i screw it up (as it will not like up directly as the pipe is slight angled) its going to be a waste of money. oh wells.. any input or experiences with these kits are welcome.. maybe im just bad at DIY things shaun.
