  1. legal or not, id definetly recommend getting the battery covered. a little tale to help enforce why i think this... my mate is a butcher, and he has a mesh glove that goes from finger tips upto his shoulder (so quite long). he also owns a bmw that has the battery in the boot. so one night after work he was getting ready to leave putting all his gear in the boot, and low and behold, a fire started. his bag caught on fire which held most of his gear, which he pulled out and threw to the ground. not only his bag, but some of the boot lining also which he put out with an old tshirt that was in the boot at the time. his battery cover had come off and while throwing his gear in, the mesh glove at touched both the terminals, sparked everywhere, and set alight some of his boot. i would definently get a battery cover.. you may not own a mesh glove, but what if youre throwing in a long screw driver, or your toolbox lid flips open, or some other electricity conducting material happens to be in your boot.. thats all from me.. s.
  2. :: EDIT i didnt quite see you mention GTR.. so my response to your no spooling of maybe your exhaust wheel went down your pipe would seem to be quite wrong since you have TWO turbos and its unlikely they both went.. pardon me.. ill be on my way.. shaun.
  3. i posted more for savman then you mate, so no worries on your part. cheers for the offer also, but unfortunately ive got an r32. i thought i mentioned that but i guess i didnt anywho i guess noone knows.. so lets let this thread die.. s.
  4. thanks for highjacking my thread.. at least someone got some help : *a little annoyed.. but thats ok* shaun.
  5. thanks man, i gather noone else has any thoughts on them?
  6. hello all, seen a number of group buys on this site with copy intercoolers, prices lingering around $250 mark (give or take $50). just after peoples opinions on these things? i wouldnt have a clue really about them, but would it be better then a stock intercooler? at the moment my r32 gtst has pod and exhaust and id be looking to get an rb25 turbo+bleed valve to 14'ish psi, and obviously am going to beed an intercooler. i wouldnt be going much further then that in the way of modding the car.. so would one of these coolers suffice? obviously id like my moneys worth, but im not keen on spending $1k+ on a top of the range intercooler made for 400hp+ that im never going to push to its limits.. cheers! shaun.
  7. hey all, i had a prang in my car awhiles ago and it bent the bonnet slightly. its a gtst with a gtr bonnet/grill and id like to keep it that way. only problem, cant seem to find a straight bonnet that hasnt got a $1k price tag. so looking around, my mate found a place that sells fibre glass 'skins' of bonnets, and can do a gtr for 500 or so. i was curious if anyone has notices if the frames of the gtr/gts bonnets are same or different due to the gts lip at the front? mines only bent slightly and still closes, so still drivable. if worse comes to worse ill have to bite the bullet and spend some dollars :headbang: cheers, shaun.
  8. hey, cant say ive gotten a front cut before, but theres a place along Kingston Rd in Logan a bit down from AllJap (its just near Moss St opposite side of the Shell servo) called Asian Auto Spares. theyve got numerous front cuts and parts.. i bought a headlight from them for $125 while AllJap wanted $300 for the same thing.. so, maybe their prices are also a little less costly.. dont have the number on hand, but im sure thats their exact name, so the white pages might be the go! shaun.
  9. i see.. so what kinda price would there be for the flow coating?
  10. hey all, any idea the kinda price for just an overspray of the original colour? say, my car is black, with a few bland patches and generally not an A1 shiny coat. any idea rather then a full on colour change? cheers, shaun.
  11. im sure a more experienced person will have a better answer, but i would say the 'driving normally' would be the bedding in period for the new parts in the engine ie. let all those shiny new bits get accquaited with the oldies in the engine so they all get along.. id you just throw those shinies in there and rev it out they wont be very happy. bedding in pretty much is just letting all the new parts ease in and get all the straight cut and little ridgid bit off so they settle into the engine and stay settled in the right spot. s.
  12. hey all, well my r32 seems to have a bit of a funky exhaust. i think its safe to say its a 3inch cat back, while getting a bit bigger towards the tip. it looks quite small up off the back of the turbo, so im looking to make that a bit bigger and have a full turbo back 3inch (at least anyhow). my question is, can i just take the car to an exhaust shop and tell them 'i want three in from here back', or do i need to buy a certain dump pipe of brand name X? as ive heard of people having different branded dump/front pipes, is there any certain rocket science to them? thanks in advance.. s.
  13. ill second that comment around being black and dirty the next day... gosh it gives me the shits. not even next day, i just washed the car and then drove it, pull on to the side of the road where its gravel, and the dust i created just covered the car... what a waste of washing.. (i know, 'dont pull over on the dirt then', well i had to pull over somewhere!) shaun.
  14. hello all, as the title suggests, im after the location of the Inside Air Temp Sensor, as i have read through the r32 manual and gone through my Air Con self diags and it sense this sensor is faulty and to replace it. the lovely picture in the manual is about as black as the car itself, and i cannot for the life of me work out where it is i read something about being behind the glovebox, but id really like a more specific location if anyone knows. i also done a search and found this thread: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...inside+air+temp i think i know the tube the fellow is talking about, and it sounds like the sensor is on the end of it? that is up behind the centre console and aircon control unit. anyhow, any help would be greatly apprecaited! shaun.
  15. there was a thread awhile ago now where the the guys posted pretty much every option avail with descriptions and all.. truely surprized me the amount of options there were that i would not have thought even existing.. i done a quick search, couldnt find it in the first two pages, but im sure with some more indepth searching it could be found.. not to sound smart, but try the searching a few different words.. good luck! shaun.
  16. mine also actually, from the hole where the stereo goes.. only on occasions though, and most notable from the passenger seat.. happened since i got the car, and hasnt broken anything yet.. s.
  17. i done much searching on this for my first oil change in the skyline, and the impression i got was Motul 4100 10w-40 was where its at. so.. i went out and bought like four litres for $50 from autobarn.. you guys had better be right (no no.. i wasnt threatening.. honest!) shaun.
  18. with you on that parents wth prams parking. following this mazda6 around in a packed car park for awhiles, my girlfriends sisters 1yr daughter with us, and the mazda6 takes the last of the parent parking (ok, so im no parent, but we got the baby+pram thing happening!), and im like !@#$!%%, but luckily another car in a normal spot got out just across the isle for which we parked in. what do you know, out of the mazda6 is a 50yo man and a 30yo lady, no kid.. the lady at least recognised what had happened and gave small 'sorry' smiles and head down/away, while the old guy just walked off with his head up high and not a glance. to make it better, we shared the lift with them, i really felt like saying something but whats the use.. a young hoon in a skyline telling off some old guy.. yeh.. i think he would really change his ways just for me.. shaun.
  19. thanks for that link Trust33, read the whole thing and definently looks like the route i might go. thanks guys! shaun.
  20. hey everyone, as the title suggests, im thinking about blowing $1000 on a few small upgrades for the old '32. ive been reading other posts and threads id found while searching which generally state progression of upgrades or which path to get each in. but i was kind ahoping to get some opinions on whether or not this kinda path would be good for the time being.. the car is pretty much stock apart from the exhaust, which is abouts a 3inch cat back, it seems to get bigger and bigger as it goes along (stock off turbo, three inch cat, four inch tail to a five inch tip.. go figure), but everything else is stock. so i was thinking, perhaps an rb25 turbo, fuel pump and perhaps a tune of the stock ecu? it already runs around 10psi (as read on the boost guage..) so im alright with that for the time being giving its still got stock intercooling. but what are your thoughts regarding the upgrades in looking at? would money be better spent elsewhere rather then turbo/pump, outright intercooler and dump pipe maybe? cheers, shaun.
  21. hey all, having had my skyline for awhiles now, im thinking about upgrading the standard side mount incoolder in favour for a front mount. now, ive heard of piping kits but im not real sure how these go together. questions are such, how does the intercooler mount? are custom brackets needed to bolt it to the body? these piping kits, are the a set of numerous bends/straights for what *might* be needed, or are they specific to fit r32's etc? ive got a gtr front spoiler, there looks to be a lot of room behind it, would i need to cut away any of the spoiler for the pipes to fit in there? just a few questions im unsure of, dont want to jump into anything and find problems later on :S thanks guys! shaun.
  22. hey man, ill be first to jump in and say it, buying such a powerful car while still young and potentially not capable to handle it is really bad. not to mention theyre expensive. have you tried out a gtst? like the other guy said, go around test driving a heap of skylines before just making your mind up on that one solely.. it could save you a lot of trouble as well as cash. k.
  23. hey all i need to find a dyno that will run my car so i can find where my boost leak/problem is coming from as it only happens under load. im in logan central, where abouts would be the nearest one to me? im not really after 'good tuners' or such as the car is definently in no state to be tuned, just need somewhere to run the car and get under the hood to find the problem. thanks in advance! shaun.
  24. personally i reckon gtr kits are nice, so whats the matter with it being on a non-gtr? as long as theres no gtr badge hanging on the back trying to impersonate, whats wrong with just makin the car look better? anyways, i got a gtr kit on teh 32.. so maybe im bias s.
  25. on my 32 we drilled. wasnt too concerned around the offset thingy, its not that big. as for fitting five people in a skyline.. im certain i couldnt do it with my mates, but with my gf's friends, its very squishy. even for me as i have to have the drvers seat moved forward.. really dont look forward to carrying more then two passengers.. noone fits behind me and theres not even leg room for the middle seat. s.
