hello all, not so long ago my car was losing boost etc and it was said its the head studs and gasket. i got that fixed (5 of the 12 were snapped) and after that its had a major boost leak tothe point it wont boost over 5psi and runs crap after that (which is usually around 3000rpm). i had it in the shop today to fix the 'supposed' problem, a rubber 45deg pipe going into another rubber pipe and clamping it wasnt working.. so its all been replaced with steel and such, but now its still happening, just not as bad. with my foot flat, it will hit the 5psi, sound of air leaking, but still rev, just not as powerful.. where as before it was just bog down and not go anywhere really. obviously, ive checked all the pipes, clamps, etc, and im sure the guys at the shop would have checked them all seeing as theyd have taken them all out, so, where else could the problem lay? could the studs not be right or something? something not tight around the exhaust manifold? thanks.. shaun.

mine has gotten better with the car/s as time has passed.. the torrie i used to own, she hated and was embarrassed by it, but began liking it when the guys in school (when i first met her in yr12) would talk about how cool it was (har har, young hoons in the making).. and now with the skyline, she has more of an appreciation for it and the attention it needs.. as long as i divide my attention evenly, and even at the same time, shes cool with it like washing the car, shell man the hose.. mechanical work, shell undo bolts after i ease them that first bit, and changing a tyre she wound the jack up and let it down.. hehe almost sounds like my own little slave but really, she tends to like helping and having me proud of her.. so i love her for that shaun.

ive got the intercooler prob also. its got a leak and does what youre saying at around 3000rpm (where it hits about 0.5bar). before it would be at 0.9bar at 3000rpm, but not it gets there and just dies, constant 0.5bar reading, and no power at all. with all the windows open i can hear the leaking of air, and the bov also sounds slightly different in a funny kinda way. but yeh, im got boost leak, which if i were to describe would sound very similar to what you are saying.. something that could help, if i dont have the accelerator down quite as much, it will tend to act 'normal' again, and continue to rev through the range until it is creating too much boost, then i ease of the accel a bit more and it will continue to rev another 500rpm til doing the same thing. as long as i dont create too much boost (in which case air would be leaking while too much fuel is being put in.. im guessing..) and keep it around 0.3bar by lifting off the accel when it gets too much, it will keep on reving. easy to do between 2000 and 3500rpm, but the higher the rpm's, the easier it is to create boost and more precise i need to be with the accel pedal as to not give it too much exhaust gases to spin the turbo thus create boost. i hope this dribble helps somehow just sharing my expreience.. shaun.

when i went to rego my car that i imported, i had a trainee doing it with a more knowlageble working standing behind him explaining things as he went, as he had not done an imported car before. from what i heard, they basically entered the car into the system, cleared all the details (as in going out to look at all the right things) and made sure all the new details of the car (VIN etc) were ok and put them into the system. form this, i would not thing there would be much needed other then your normal things to rego a car built in aus, as everything was cleared that first time, and the car is now on their system. but, this is just my thoughts, obviously a call to your local main roads would give a more solid answer shaun.

my first ride in a skyline was my own when i picked it up from the warf and drove it from their gates and only a tow truck, hehe, lasted all of 30secs, totally loved it though.. but i think it was more a loving feeling that it was mine.. b'oh.. but, first proper run in it, i was excited, id had it in the garage running, giving it a rev here and there, letting off the blow off valve, and i was so excited about it all. when i got to drive it i got to give it a boot down the street while my mate was following in his rx impreza and he just disappeared in my rear view mirror within seconds.. of cos, his rx is nothing special, but at the time i was driving an old holden torana that even his rx has beaten, so i was used to seeing his tail lights.. now he got to see mine

hey all bad news.. ive had a slight prang in the skyline ive pulled the front bar off, taken a headlight out (thats all the cosmetic damage) and have noticed its a little bent around the support frame up front (and of cos the front bumper metal stuff). the bumper can be bought, but the support frame looks pushed in maybe half an inch to an inch, and ive heard places that can straightn chassis and things like that, so i was hoping someone knew of such place up in brisbane or gold coast or such areas. i could probably beat it out but id prefer it done properly  any ideas? thanks, shaun.

Hello all, in a couple of weeks my friends and i will be looking to do a bit of a cruise weekend, going somewhere distant from home (Logan City) and staying the night to come back on sunday. the problem is, were not sure where it is to go? :headspin: so im after suggestions on where to go, where we could stay, and possibly things we could do there or on the way. on thought is to go up north to sunshine coast, stop by Condalilly Falls for a BBQ lunch of sorts, some cricket or something eventful, stay in a hotel the night, maybe go clubbing/bar hoping (where are the main ones??) and perhaps swim the ocean the sunday before we head back home. so if any of the local up there, or maybe down south, would know a scenic kinda route to drive with things to do and places to stay, perhaps even a bit further the sunshine coast (so about 3 hours drive?) either north or south, im open for suggestions thanks! shaun.

yeh.. what happens if you have 4wd like my gts4 does.. and i drive through the water.. i cant imagine my poor 2litre turbo doing massive four wheel spins to get rid of the water i would have just drove through :T

someone mentioned emergency braking and putting down both feet was dangerous etc, but i know when driving a manual and say a cat darts out in front my me i tend to brake+clutch at the same time for that split second.. if someone is left foot braking what would happen if they have the same habit as me and brake+accel? that wouldnt be too good.. im a right foot braker, even in autos, even when parking (autos usually roll forward themsevles quick enough for parking even without acceleration.. whats yer hurry !? ).. shaun.

hello all, yet more troubles araise with my car. it seems that the heater vent flap behind the dash is in a perminent 'on' position, allowing all the hot air i need to flow into cabin. im just wondering whether this flap is, well, easy to get to, or controlled by a certain motor that may have died, or some such. pretty much, i can put hte aircon on, and it still only flows hot air. any suggestions on fixing this matter would be greatly appreciated shaun.

what are the factory units like? i mean, well, my car came with a tv screen about 4 or 5inch, with numerous buttoms down either side of it. its a panisonic cq-500d (from memory, its at my mates house at the moment), and i couldnt find anything about it on the net. it wasnt hooked up when we pulled it out, it looked like an aftermarket unti was in it and they just screwed this old one back in when selling the car. does this sound like the a factory unit you may have? my car looks like it has a few extra gadgets about that look to perhaps be gps... thanks, shaun.

just to go even a bit more off topic (sorry cool hand luke ), about how much would an r32 gts4t box handle? laying under the car it seems pretty damn big (havent seen a gtst box to compare though), even the floor inside is rasied either side of the tunnel to make room. shaun -
Import Thieving
krush replied to blacky's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
hey, imported an r32 recently, bits worth stealing: boost guage, turbo timer, lcd stereo screen.. and more difficulty, gtr front spoiler, side skirts, and rear spoiler. everything came intact, the turbo timer was hanging as if someone tried to pull it off but could be bothered pulling it right out properly. at first the boost guage was missing and i was so 'damn those warfies!!' while shaking my fist, but after having to pull the dash out to fix some probs, it was found tucked in the driver side kick panel! noone had mentioned it would be hidden.. and what a place to hide it.. they even fooled me! the car was on teh warf for awhile too, arrived 22nd of dec, couldnt get it til 5th of jan (so nearly 2wks?) because of all the christmas and new years holidays and stuff.. s. -
heh, ok, ill have to take a look at that then tomorrow while the engines cool.. thanks for the tip! s.

hey all, after driving the car for a bit, ive come across a few things that dont seem too good. theres a sound that im sure is coming from the turbo when it spools up, which sounds like a screaming screeching sound (almost like tyres screeching). i know what a spool'ed turbo sounds like, but this is a louder, higher pitch sound. any suggestions on what it could be? secondly, the car drops boost as it goes towards redline. on take off, it makes 0.5bar by 2500rpm, 0.8bar by 3200rpm, starts dropping at around 5800rpm and hits back to 0.5bar at 7000rpm. my first thoughts would be the turbo is too small and cant provide, but ive read on here rb20 turbos are capable of running 12psi all the way to redline? although, looking under the car the turbo did look rather small.. do those turbo actions sound like anyone elses stock rb20? any thoughts would be appreciated. thanks, shaun.

hello, actually that probably would help, i cant imagie the gtr having *that* many changes apart from the engine bay and perhaps 4wd system. mines a gts4 so even then it could be the same? any chance i could get the wiring diagram from you? in particular im after the lighting system (blinkers arent working), rear window wiper and sunroof (all of which arent working). the stereo diagram would also help, as someone has had an after market stereo in and has just ripped it out prior to selling. your help would be greatly appreciated my email is [email protected] thanks, shaun.

Hello all, it seems my recently delieved car has had an alarm in it prior to selling, which has been ripped out and left wires dangling here and there with some electrical things not even working.. Im after a wiring diagram for and r32 if anyone has it.. i cant seem to find one anywhere also, there are two levers under my steering column, the outter one (on the left) is to raise/lower the column, while the other (which is directly in the middle) seems to do little to nothing. i thought maybe this could be in/out but doesnt seem to move. any ideas? thanks, look forward to getting more questions from me as i learn about my new car shaun.

Hello all, Ive been lurking around for awhiles now as i havent had much to say, but my r32 gts4-t arrived in my driveway yesterday morning after a small wait (oct build, so only a couple months) and ive now got some questions about it.. 1. a few of the electricals dont work (rear window wiper, blinkers, sunroof), ive checked the fuses in the engine bay, and the ones in the cabin just under the drivers dash and they all seem fine - are there any other places of fuses? 2. im doing some complience work to save on cash and am in need of ADR standard seat belts. Ive read the DIY Complience thread and his engineer just yanked the jap ones to pass them? has anyone used a set from another car (perhaps aus standard r33?) for this problem? 3. Child restraints - Ive picked some up ($5 from wreckers for three) and looking for a place to put them. i didnt find any holes 'behind the speakers' as the DIY thread suggested - has anyone had to make their own holes for this or am i just blind? 4. Spolier Control, i have these two buttons, one with spoiler up and the other with just 'down' on it. i read that these will move the front spoiler about, but mine doesnt. i heard a buzz while my mate pushed it and i listened, but that was all. - just how much is it meant to move at what speed? slowly?? Any suggestions are appreciated Shaun.
