Yeah does anyone know if the Aussie modified ones are any better?

I'd say it's most probably Volvo too but where is the trademark Volvo grille? Do you think they would change this aspect of the car seeing as they've kept it for so long? I know that there's a first time for everything though. I reckon the front grille looks a little like a Pontiac GTO.

Hey this is a really good idea for a thread as I've often wondered what sort of costs I would be looking at if I upgraded my GTST to a GTR. I've seen that most people here (so far) spend about $400 on maintenance, would this be say the average cost of a service or was this the fee just to get the car 'up to scratch' after the purchase. Sorry but I don't know much about GTR servicing yet, only that they have to be serviced a lot more regularly than GTST's.

Why is it that silver ones are cheaper? Not a popular colour, or just a very common colour?

I think we can all agree that 2DMAX is rubbish, haven't met anyone on these forums or otherwise that actually likes it. I wonder where they got their market research from that made the publishers believe that 2DMAX would sell better than Speed? Maybe they thought there was already enough serious/dedicated motoring magazines around (like Motor) so they got rid of Speed and tried make a mag that would appeal to a younger/more casual audience? I know that some people found that Speed was more than a little up themselves and that the technical content was sometimes rubbish but it surely was still better than 2DMAX.

I'm another who misses Speed, but have since moved on to HPI and I've gotta say that I'm liking it. I always thought it was a little too expensive in the past (yeah I know that it's only $1 more expensive than Speed was) but since they are giving bonus mags with every issue I couldn't say no and now I'm hooked. Didn't know that they were giving away different combinations of free mags though! I'll have to look harder next time. Every now and then I'll also buy Autosalon but haven't in ages.

You know I think I saw this same/similar GTR as well! It did look very sweeeet, wish I'd taken a pic. B)

The dyno comps are always a highlight, I forgot to mention those. I remember one year there was a white GTT that was very low and had a sweet kit on it. Anyways when the tried to get it onto the rollers, it was too low and cracked the side skirts slightly! That same year there was also a genuine Tommy Kaira R34 that was very cool. Like I said there's always a few good surprises such as these!

Did they give you any warning before they banned you by PM or something or was it just an instant ban? I reckon a minimum number of posts before you can sell something is a good idea too, but surely by talking to the mods like you did should make them understand that you made a small mistake. Even though it may be against their forum rules, it surely wasn't that severe. Or do they have a huge problem with scammers on that site?

I've enjoyed some of the previous events as well but have noticed a trend for most of the cars to down the blinged up/big chrome rims route which isn't really to my tastes. *Sometimes* I've noticed better cars out in the carpark! Still there's always a few surprises to be had.

I had that same problem as well, I replaced the whole hose and so far haven't had any more rips.

I've always found Nengun to be the cheapest on average, followed very closely by Greenline. But anything I've ordered from Greenline has come within 2 weeks after payment has been confirmed, Nengun takes a little longer. I've ordered a few bits and pieces from Greenline and also Perfect Run and have never been hit with customs duty on things under $1000 or had to fill anything out for something that I ordered >$1000. None of these items were marked as a gift. So did I get lucky or can I expect a letter within the next 5 years? "The internet? Is that thing still around?"

I was pretty interested in these turbos as well, saw that article in HPI. $900 seems to be pretty good to me if it's a winner. From memory they had to make some slight modifications to the wastegate; they had to bend/shift it on an angle, and they also had to file off a bit of the outside. Will wait and see. If you do decide to buy a second hand unit, make sure that after you connect everything up you re-initialise the unit before you adjust your settings. This effectively deletes all the settings stored in the AVCR from the previous owner. To re-initialise the system, there is an option to do so under the 'Etc..' menu. "My cat's name is Mittens."

Yeah mine is a daily driver also. You can't worry about things like small scratches and stuff because then you will never drive your car! It will always sit in the garage collecting dust. "My cat's breath smells like cat food."

Yeah I've heard of damaging the collapsable steering columns as well. You should be able to get a steering wheel puller from somewhere like Repco or Super Cheaps, doesn't cost much. Don't try to remove it with out one! And make sure that when you do remove it, the front wheels are straight so when you put the new wheel/old wheel back everything is straight again.
