  1. actually now you mention it, when cold started it does run fine until the engine starts warming up and on cold nights the sound does come and go much more often than during the day, should i take it somewhere to get compression tested first or just chance it on it being the ignitor module and buy a new one?
  2. what exactly is a leak down test?
  3. so ive had this problem for quite some time now, the sound comes and goes while driving at random except for the first couple minutes on a cold start, so far i've replaced coil packs, spark plugs, serviced injectors, these have all helped the car run a bit better but the problem is still lingering around, help?
  4. would putting it on the dyno be a faster way of diagnosing the problem? while talking to the tuners they said its $100 for an hour of dyno time so im thinking of just doing that to diagnose the problem to save the headache of narrowing down the problem and possibly wasting money replacing things which dont need to be replaced
  5. stock ecu and yes i know that, spoken to tuners and i had already planned on getting injectors, fuel pump and dump pipe (mines standard but the rest of the exhaust is 3") and putting the boost up to 14psi with a nistune
  6. im not getting upset, you were acting like a dick so i responded, from the research i did everyone said coils/plugs and since i had fixed both i was wondering what else would be the problem so i asked, i did plan on upgrading injectors anyway so its not like im going to leave it, cheapest (new) ones seem to be bosch and i'll probably go 440cc since i dont plan on running big power or anything but i do plan on getting some more power out of it.
  7. well it worked absolutely fine for the next couple months so i didnt think much of it, im obviously asking a question because i dont know the answer you f**kwit.
  8. put new ones in before changing coil packs, just ngk ones, didnt do a thing, and the plugs i took out were in decent condition anyway
  9. also a while back when replacing the injector seals i found out one of my injectors wasnt working 100% but didnt change it at the time, could this be a cause?
  10. so my skyline is sounding like a wrx, ive already researched on the topic and ive so far replaced the coil packs with brand new yellow jacket ones and new spark plugs, when the car is cold started it sounds normal but after a few minutes of driving the sound appears, it used to appear and leave whilst driving but recently it doesnt leave at all and just continues until the car is turned off and on again, any suggestions??
  11. ive been trying to do the coilpack thing all day and whenever im free to do it the car sounds normal and when im busy it makes the sound again, i swear it hates me or something haha
  12. thanks, seems like a much cheaper option to replacing everything, and yes it does it while idling as well
  13. sweet thanks, the afm itself or the sensor? because i cleaned out the sensor really recently
  14. recently my rb20 32 has decided to sound like a wrx occasionally, it loses power when this sound comes up and then goes back to sounding normal at random, thought it was the spark plugs so i went and got a new set but the sound is still there, help!
  15. ive already searched up and there was a couple different options, but the BCPR6ES gapped at 0.8mm does seem to be the most common option out there so i'll probably go with that, just wanted to see what other people ran/if there were any other options
  16. wanting to change my spark plugs on my 32, wondering what would be the best option, its got minor mods running 12psi
  17. i dont think ill push the current turbo past whats recommended (14psi max i think) because its my daily and i dont have a huge budget, would rather play it safe, i guess i'll do a bit more research on turbos, see if theres any other alternatives, i plan on getting gtr after im done having my fun with this car haha, nothing against the gtst and rb20's i love my car but i think a gtr would just have that bit of extra presence on the road
  18. i was actually going to go for deatscwerks new injectors, they also have 550, 650, 800, 900 and 1200cc, my current injectors have played up on me already so i wasnt going to run the risk of getting 2nd hand, as for the turbo is there anything specific you know of that would work? i hit full boost with my current rb25 turbo at 3000rpm, i dont want anything laggier and quicker spool up would be better, dont mind forking out a bit extra for the turbo if its something good hence why i was thinking on one of the above (new)
  19. never thought about oil coolers, i was going to get parts that directly replace the oem parts so i dont have to fiddle around getting everything fitted up. its my first turbo car so i dont know much about modding but what exactly does a bigger throttle body and intake plenum do?
  20. hey, ive currently got a rb20 32 with the following mods: front mount, 3" catback, pod filter, boost controller running 12psi on an rb25 turbo. im wanting to upgrade in the near future chasing 210kw+ while retaining good response with the following setup; hks 2530 or garrett gt2860, nistune, 440cc injectors, as for supporting mods thinking fuel pump, alloy radiator and hd clutch. am i missing anything/any extra suggestions?
  21. i'll probably end up chasing more power in the future anyway and it is my daily so i'd rather not push the 25 turbo too far, so for now injectors, turbo and nistune should get me over 180rwkw, also the previous owner said there was already a heavy duty clutch in there so i should be ok there
  22. thanks heaps! i'm chasing around 180rwkw (or more) so would all this be enough to get there?
  23. also no idea on what high flowing a turbo is haha, first jdm/turbo car so i have no idea what im doing
  24. sweet, as for injectors im assuming some gtr injectors would be fine? fairly sure they're 444cc from memory
  25. thanks heaps, ive already got a full 3 inch exhaust except for the dump pipe which is stock, would it be better to get an ecu or just get the stock ecu nistuned?
