  1. I suspect the 370Gts out there have a lot of kms on them now. Even mine is up to 140,000kms. Re electrical gremlins - yup, I have had the steering wheel lock seize on me out of the blue. Quite annoying ! PS mine is a sedan. These seem more rare than coupes
  2. I found this on youtube and thought I would share. So If you find your car wont start one day, but has power - what to do? Its often a box under the steering wheel that locks the wheel from turning when the car is locked. These boxes are very expensive to replace (nissan wanted $2200!) and the part number is dhgmm1nc1a. However there is a free way to fix this. ok. so hit the box under the dash with a hammer (yes you heard me right!). Not that hard but enough to shake it internally loose. The car will turn on to say accessory mode. now WHILE THE CAR IS UNLOCKED, follow the guide to pull the steering lock fuse. Its really important that you only do this is if the car is unlocked/powered on. so once the fuse is out, you are ok to relock the car at will. no fuse means no power to this box to seize up again ! bingo. you saved a tone of cash
  3. yes, bearings installed and car runs fine. Note this is the RWD version of the V36. AWD uses a different bearing
  4. Hi All. In summary I found out how to get the Japanese OEM front bearing hubs for $99.72 +GST each ! how did I locate them? First go to the online catalogs at Amayama here: https://www.amayama.com/en/catalogs/nissan/skyline/12-sedan-right-v36-2010-r-1344/chassis-and-transmission-7/front-axle-chassis-535 The nissan part (40202M) has 2 codes being original 40202EJ70A, replaced by: 402024GA0A I found out from web searches that NSK make em so I searched ebay.com for "NSK + nissan part number 402024GA0A" (ebay in USA, NOT AUSTRALIA). Once I found a random NSKhub bearing listing, I grabbed the USA NSK part number (they had a picture of the NSK box and it had a code on it) https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/323822558755 I then rang NSK Australia in Victoria on 03 9765 4400. I talked to Angela and she took the US part number (ZA-/HO/66BWKH26J-Y01) and gave me the Australian eqiv. (ZA-/HO/68BWKH18D-Y01). NSK have many distributors but I chose Statewide bearings in Brisbane and gave them that Aussie ref number (ZA-/HO/68BWKH18D-Y01). https://www.statewidebearings.com.au/ They located them in the Melb warehouse and shipped them onight. Funny Nissan wanted >$1000 a pair and I ended up paying $220.
  5. Thanks Ben found the part # here and am chasing these outlets now #400203 note these have 2yr 40,000kms wty and are made in china. I dont expect them to last like the OEM over time but I am seeing prices like $147 online so they are cheap and easy to get hold of locally. I'll just plan to check/swap the bearings in 2 years time
  6. I rang around the local nissan dealers. Only a few in Melb warehouse (this seems to be ground zero for nissan parts). Dealer prices ranged from $561 to $510 each so the Australia tax is considerable (about double the US price. I might investigate shipping from japan next as you mention as USA shipping is really slow for some reason. Also found F1 motorsports had OEM for same bargain price as ebay (and who trusts ebay OEM to really be OEM and not a knock off?)
  7. as an update to my own post : ) part number is 40202-EJ70A. this has 2 holes for ABS sensor so it can be used on left or right side front . These are all OEM nissan hubs: PartSouq want $854 landed for a pair landed inc GST Amayama want $909 pair landed inc GST Nengun want $761 pair landed in GST Ebay.com US seller called apszone wants $630.54 pair landed in GST
  8. one of my 2012 front bearings is shot (@130K). I'm on the hunt for a source of quality replacements. Seems the bearing and the hub are an integral unit that's swapped out. Ebay has lots of Chinese units but I don't want to be doing this again in 12 months time Where do you suggest I source a pair of front quality units from Nissan or ?? your knowledge and help are much appreciated !
  9. Mustang V8 note is nice but turbos are easier to boot Local V37s have dropped alot. Some for 34K. makes swap even cheaper.   10. thanks. this is leaning me towards just selling the v36 and buying a V37 ready to go. I need to find out if AUS is ready to import the Japanese red sedans now (2019 model). Local seems to have cut off at 2018 model (before the GTR facelift). If the import is 45K and the V36 sells for 20K then its the same 25K swap over abet less hassle and easier to service etc. Pete
  11. Has anybody looked into obtaining a front cut V37 Red sedan from japan as a way to twin turbo a V36 (sedan)? I figure this could be made street legal by putting it over the pits as the VR30DETT block and trans should mostly drop in with just a few hiccups (the USA has sorted now). The left over V36 motor and trans could be sold off to reduce costs also. Anybody considered this ? The aftermarket route is expensive (like 25K) so the front cut would have to be cheaper (15K?). Who would undertake this in QLD... East Coast Customs ? Pete
  12. I'm on the Sunny coast but happy to travel to find a place that's knowledgeable on the V36 platform. My first job is an Akenbono brake upgrade (I have the parts via gumtree). Any suggestions? Pete
  13. FYI - Lots of US guys are using the V37 as a V36 upgrade as it holds more torque/power but its basically identical abet updated to the v36 trans
  14. due to petrol prices, I dropped the 98 and ran mine on 95 fine - no issues at all. Mind you E10 94 freaked it out and regular unleaded made it lose power Economy - a nissan dealer told me that any misalignment between the two intakes over time causes a drop in economy. At least spray some cleaner in the intake butterflys to ensure one isnt sticking a bit. same with airfilters, keep them clean.
  15. Hi all, I have an import sedan KV36 2012 that I installed an English Infiniti headunit in 5 years ago when I got it. Now its time to update the GPS map. Any thoughts? * Dealers charge a small fortune for a DVD set that installs the key but I see in the USA that this can be purchased from Infinity for $150USD https://truckomize.com/nissan-maps * OZ infiniti does not seem to have this website option but I pinged their spare parts dept. just to see how outrageous the price was. I suspect they wont evben sell me the DVDs and expect installation costs on top.... * is there an international site like Amayama that has english sets? https://www.amayama.com/en Any info appreciated.   17. Hi all Do any of you have experience with the Sunny Coast from the point of servicing? I have 2012 V36 sedan with 100K+ so according to service schedule it needs a major service (plugs etc). Its down on power, a bit flat and burning fuel. I could try local Nissan dealer in Maroochydore or ultratune but I would like to find a shop that isnt a cookie cutter I can drive to north Brissy if there is a better place? Pete
  18. Gday Paramour I read the bog stock V36 will typically give 280HP/208KW at rear wheels from several sources e.g. The 280 RWHP equates to ~320HP/238KW at the crank (15% drivetrain loss). This aligns with Nissan specing the engine at 245kw in Japan, abet brand new on 100 octane in ideal situation. If your measuring the RWHP at 201KW with mods (270HP) then you MAY be down on power over stock. Now before you panic, I have found Dynos and Dyno operators vary a lot - So if you did a dyno run before and after on the same dyno and saw a considerable gain in HP, its probably fine and the dyno is just set conservative. If not - then the heads cant breathe well enough to take advantage of your intake and exhaust. Maybe look at how the Z1 package got engine 400HP/300KW. You may be able to either ship over parts or at least copy them (i.e. grab manifold from a wrecker and port them ?). https://www.z1motorsports.com/z1-products/z1-motorsports/370z-g37-vq37vhr-400hp-package-p-7223.html Also what about adding switchable 98 / E85 tune maps so u can gain more power this way? To get even better flow, the cams need to be swapped (JWT). I found a few vids on how to do this and you DONT need to remove the motor. You do need to remove most of the front end stuff like bumper, radiator etc to access them. e.g. hope that helps. Pete
  19. Does anyone have info on how to apply to add to sevs list? I am interested. Also once we get 3 years from the date infiniti stock in australia was made, we can get good prices on import v37. I know they announced shutting down Infiniti in Sep 2019. I assume the stock on the floor was made sometime mid 2019. This would mean ~mid 2022 we could import 2019 models from japan of the 400R in japan (Q50 400HP red in AUS) - japan part number 5BA-RV37. Why 3 years ? Japanese wty on new cars. Then they start dumping them to auctions. PS This is the facelifted model with GTR look grille btw.
  20. Its a bit like the local nissan 200sx (silvia in japan). We got S14 and S14a models. We didnt get S13 or final S15. Thus you CAN import a silvia but only S13/15 models. Same with V37 - Nissan has dropped infiniti in AUS now so current model after a certain date should be importable (2021). Too expensive though. Now if we can find "rare" older models not sold in AUS (like the AWD version VR30DDTT) and its was available in japan, we may have a loophole. No harm trying, eh? Pete
  21. this is why V37 has me interested. lots of options to hot up later. locally shipped is still big money (thus looking for options to import say a cheap 2016-2018 Q50 AWD VR30DDTT.
  22. I have a 2012 SP V36 sedan. Im thinking its time to move on. The question is what (import) next? Price is an issue as I landed the V36 for mid 20's on the road So I would like to keep in that up to 30K range. Ideally have a turbo and be a GT. I have been sniffing around the skyline V37 in japan to see if the VR30DDTT models may have had something nissan OZ didnt register (thus blocking SEVS). For instance the VR30 models seem to have shipped to USA as both RWD and AWD but OZ seems to only have got RWD version in VR30 (OZ AWD was the hybrid). So if not a V37, what else for 30K import with turbo?
