This Is Why They Call Me Dangerman
Hotwire replied to dangerman4's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
haha, You sir are Nucking Futs! -
Oh, and dont forget that the Legnums also have the same AYC as the Evo V's in all pre-facelift models, and the Type S facelift models. AYC greatly improves handling in the hills etc (I often light up 3 AYC bars on the dash, hehe). Some auto models also have traction control and Active Stability control. Again, great features if the wife is driving, but I tend to turn of TCL when I'm driving
-
What's your budget? I'm fairly certain you'll be paying double for an EVO wagon what you would a Legnum or a Volvo (Stagea). Also, what do you want out of it? Nice drive in close to stock form, OR do you want to mod it up like the muppet bus? IF mods are you cup of tea (and it seems they are) then a Stagea has far better aftermarket support. BUT If you want a far better looking car, that drives nicer, then go the Legnum. 5sp tiptronic auto is much better for pickup than the 4sp for daily duties, and boost is pretty much on tap at 2500 revs to the 7,500 redline. Simple mods such as exhaust, FMIC, boost control, fuel pump and piggy back ECU (such as a haltec) will net you ~200 awkw, and a 13 sec 1/4. If you want to go beyond this you're looking at new turbo's which require custom manifolds (not done in australia yet), new injectors, fuel pump etc. and full EMS as stock ECU would've pooped it trying to control bigger injectors etc. So yeah, if you can live with 200awkw and spending only maybe $3k on top of purchase for that, then Legnum is for you

Gaga is simply hollywood trash - no different to Lohan, Spears etc. trying to sell an image with ZERO talent! LOL
-
^Lady GaGa = Legnum is a facelift model with Dolphin Aeroform kit - Very Nice!

I quite like it. Friend of a friend has a Clio (sporty one, whatever the model) and he raved about it, as did my friend who drove it. FWD still sucks ass for REALLY spirited driving (I know I own an SP23) but overall looks like a fun package.

I know this isn't meant to be a chit-chat thread, BUT I bought the trust muffler off Matt today, and just have to say the condition is amazing! If all his other parts are in 1/2 as good condition, WELL worth the $$ (nice to meet ya matt )
-
Swap + $$ with your mate seems like the best way to go - convince him of this. Maybe swap cars for a day or two to see if he likes the idea? Saves you the hassle of having to sell & buy again.
-
Sorry mitch, but I can't see anyone paying $12k for a non-turbo. Like steve said, maybe $9k is closer to the mark.

Just over a year ago leading up to Autosalon, there was much jest thrown around about autosalon, its competitors, and the "show scene" in general, as Darren & another member (Dan) were very much for driven cars, not show pony's. Cara took the brunt of the criticism as her car had many mods for looks and not as much for go, and thus Darren's post was directed at her once again. Steve is a supporter of Darrens sentiments of driven, with $$ spent on performance more-so than looks. It's all shit stirring that I thought was in good fun, but obviously its been taken way to seriously... oh well

Darren you shit stirrer Why only 1 post for the year? your always welcome back

Jess, The reasons I was given for the "recent" delays is that due to a wetter than usual winter (well of late anyway) the outer of the track became so soft that they couldnt get the heavy re-surfacing machinery near the track. Due to this, Paul said they needed to wait for ~4 weeks without rain to dry the outer out so they can get the machinery back in there. We had basically had that for the last month, so I would expect the re-surfacing equipment to be back there now. There were also unofficial reports that the machinery had hit a "sink hole" around the back end of the track, causing the machinery to sink into the track, thus meaning MORE expensive repairs to get the track back to level, let alone just the resurfacing... I just hope that it WILL be up and running come december Lee

Pete - I agree there is a fair bit of "hot air" puffed around, its been posted many times on here, ns.com etc. about online petitions and "ive signed it" - yet how many got off their Lazy Asses and went to the Pt Adelaide Complex rally back in January? probably about 5-10% if we were lucky I reckon. There were the usual excuses posted the next day, "i forgot, it was too hot - i was still hungover". When I was down there, I could almost see so many old-school guys who wouldn't generally go near a computer, and plenty of old school cars, but very few imports. Your right - it's a sad state. I just hoped that 1 more (me) harassing AIR track manager would do something in the mean time if the Pt Adelaide complex (which I would much prefer) doesnt get up and running

What's he in this year Ryan?
-
Just had a look at the entrylist on the site, and the GTR is in "Thoroughbred Touring" Which means its not actually competing for honours, just driving around in a fast parade group. I presume the competition rules of no 4WD still stands - although the last few years a black GTS-t has competed, and also last year there was Tim Possingham in the ns.com S13 silvia who managed 5th overall.

Skaife is a tool. Just because he drove a good car (GTR), doesnt make him a nice guy. Arrogant a$$hole is the impression I've always had, no great loss to the sport.
-
Jesss, however I hate to say it - but same shit different day. Although they have been claiming late december for 6+ months now (I've called Paul the track manager a few times over the last 6 months), so MAYBE they actually might make the date....
-
You can still do that in your Yaris.... 50kph in a school zone? There's 100% over the limit On a serious note, I understand what you mean about temptation, I think good on you for deciding to have a good economical daily to keep costs down and a dedicated track car. Something others should really consider I think given their driving history.....

Kev, The SP23 is out of lease soon, and I want a full detail to prepare it for sale (buff, interior detail including condition the leather, and engine bay cleanup) How much to do that? Yes I realise it may be a few hundred but can make the difference when it comes to sale Cheers Lee
