  1. And people thought our blackouts here in Adelaide were bad:
  2. ETSA Current outages are listed here: http://etsa.com.au/current_interruptions.jsp?xcid=852 campbeltown isnt on there so something is not right.. your not part of the current rolling blackout so it must be a fault/issue with your supply.
  3. Adam: Go see Ric at Auto Perfection. He fitted an Aust Standards alarm to my legnum that has been great so far. Never had false alarm, but has been set off (unintentially) so I know it works too. Also, tell him your from SAU and you'll get discount too thanks to Steve (Madaz)
  4. Glavas - Mining industry is up the shit according to recent reports. Due to economic downturn, our resources aren't being sold OS and as a result BHP are cutting thousands of jobs australia wide. Getting into Diesel Mechanic on the mines is about to become a whole lot harder. Also, my cousin has been a diesel mechanic in mining now for the last 20 years. Let me just say, it makes you a sad strange little person...... As for the comment about mechanic apprentices getting shit pay, dont think its any better in any other trade. Apprentice is just cheap labour full stop. You'll hate the wages of ANY apprenticeship, but its what you can make post apprenticeship that appeals. I did an electrician apprenticeship upon leaving high school 11 years ago (wow, im that old now!) and at the conclusion of the apprenticeship, went to uni for 4 years and did my Electrical Engineering degree. I enjoyed the working with my hands/tools etc, BUT it wasn't enough mental stimulation for me. Now i sit in an air con office on 42 degree days rather than crawling through a 65 degree roof space for basically the same money I would make being self employeed But Mitch, the bottom line i'm trying to get at, you need to be happy in what your doing. You will make decisions that cost you money (as you've found out) but dont be affraid to try. Take on the mechanic apprenticeship if you can get one, if not, try being a Spark, Chippy, Rusty etc
  5. If you actually read it, it doesn't state that its street racing. Who's to say they aren't hiring out Goolwa Air Strip and using it for drags? Been done quite a few times by Torana club - might be legitimate form of racing..... but still a wankerish way to promote it.
  6. Pete: My dad recently bought a 200 series cruiser GXL also (TTV8D), nice car! Fuel consumption isn't as great as toyota lead you to believe, BUT your right, enough torque to pull a house down When pulling his 2T (fully loaded) camper trailer around NT/QLD mid last year he was averaging about 18L/100 from memory, whereas unloaded he would get about 12L/100. That was sitting on Highway speeds whenever possible, and more often than not 80+ on the dirt "highways". Nice cars though
  7. - Never done a skid
  8. So when you swinging past Chef? Im not at work next week so only leaves today... unless I meet ya somwhere while im on holidays over the next 3 weeks
  9. No I'm saying he was younger looking than you... which makes me wonder how he could afford such a nice car at such a tender age... then again he might just be a baby faced guy in his late 30s.... Pic of said car (did have TE37s, dont know why i posted what i did before )
  10. Spotted/Drove next to a White R34 GTR Heading up Unley Rd this evening (5:30), had Bronze TE37s (I think, never got a good look at the wheels still), a powerplay imports sticker on drivers side 1/4 window, and lowered slightly so guard sat level with the tyre.... BLOODY NICE RIDE! When I first saw the rear end I thought it was the chef, then realised that it didnt have the CF bonnet and younger driver.
  11. Oh, I should've mentioned Ive got Toyo T1Rs on the SP23, and while its a great tyre, the cost was't exactly budget minded! BUT they are a great tyre also - I just believe the Federals will do the same job for a better price.
  12. I've got Federal 595ss on my Legnum at the moment (mid range of the Federals) and for the price they are fantastic. If you are going to use it for track, look at the Federal 595 RS-R's (semi slick) and they'll probably suit your purpose well at a good price.
  13. Everyone with a white skyline, prepare to be pulled over for a random inspection to see if you are the culprit
  14. Was the R33 silver with the plate BULLET1 - Silver on Black Plate? If so that car lives around the corner from me and I wondered who drove it
  15. Tempted to go spectate if the 35 is taking part - let us know which events
  16. Spotted who I think was Hilzy this morning at BP Goodwood Rd/Cross Rd intersection. He was leaving the BP onto Goody Rd just as I entered from Cross Rd - the 18" Works looked very nice!
  17. Well you were on the right track - 2x2.5"s would flow a lot more, but its a lot more surface area than a single 3" and would take more space under the car. A fairer comparison would be Comparing similar sizes (say 2x2.125" compared to 1x3", both 4560mm2) the flow is almost the same.
  18. ^Not necessarily. There has been a fair bit of research (well particularly for V8s) and I think the results concluded there was VERY little difference between twin pipes and singles, and if anything a single was maybe 1-2% better flow from memory. This is due to the single having less swirling restriction from memory, however for now I can't find the evidence to backup my claims.....
  19. It's Ford have the same PCD (5x114.3). Pre-Au offset was generally +6 to 0, Post AU offset is +35, same as nissan/toyota/mazda etc.
  20. Not quite - area = pi*r^2, so: 3" pipe = 4,560mm2 2x2.25" = 5,130mm2 2x2.5" = 6,333mm2 5" pipe = 12,667mm2 so as you can see, 2x2.5 is definately not as much area (flow) as a 5" pipe by a long shot
  21. Would like to know the price of this guys work also.. however im not really interested in straight pipes, I need mufflers so I dont deafen Lachlann!
  22. Should have a wagon class for all the Legnums & Stegeas!
  23. So - my car doesnt appear in the list in bulletin 44, does that mean I can make it as low as I like, as long as I keep 100mm of clearance under the car?
  24. I bought my R33, because although I had grown up within a ford family (and still like my fords) I was looking for something that actually handled. While watching the Group A Touring Cars in the late 80s early 90's I developed a great admiration for the 32 GTR. When the time came to buy an import, I considered an R32 GTSt, but couldn't handle the thought of a torqueless motor after driving 4.0L straight 6's and 5.8L V8s - so RB25 was the only option (as GTR was way outa my price range). So R33 it was. Loved the car to drive, pretty good driving position considering im 6'4 (far better than WRXs, S14s etc) and the torque, power, brakes etc were all to my liking..... THEN the family life started a little sooner than expected and the R33 got sold. Needed a suitable replacement and considered R33 sedan, but was swayed in the direction of a Legnum by the good Chef, and haven't looked back since. Now I love the AWD/AYC combo, and look forward to when I get to drive it (wife claims the car 90% of the time due to having little man!)
