  1. anyone else had any experiences with short shifters??
  2. spotted yesterday mid afternoon, a white series 2 R33 in Narooma - looked like black and white NSW plates - I gave the thumbs up and got a wave back.
  3. What part of the coast?
  4. ylwgtr2 - thnx for your insight. got any recommendations for good gear box oil? I was looking into elf 55w 8o - is this any good?
  5. You have given more reason to keep it than to sell it. Maybe you should sell it and invest the $$$ into a R32 gtr - that is definitely an upgrade!!
  6. I have got myself a C's copy and before installing it I wanna know more about them. Ive been driving manuals for about 18 years now and I consider myself to be pretty good at changes and driving in general. I can snap into gear pretty good without grinding or missing. I have never used a short shifter and I think it is what I am seeking to improve my driving skills and my times by a margin. Ive searched the forum for info on short shifters. Ive checked out pranks D.I.Y installation and also his thread about his C's original short shifter snapping about 5 months later. Ive read that some people gain excess noise form the gear box after installation and some dont. Most people reckon that the difference in shift is worth it. I would like to know; If they are bad for syncros? Is the gear completely engaged due to the reduction? Am I gonna fu(k my box from having it installed? I was hoping for some insight from lads like sydneykid or from those that may have had first hand experience with short shifters - especially C's copies. I can also get onto nismo short shifters: Nismo short shift kit with bushing: BNR32, BCNR33, HNR32, ENR33, ENR34 = AUD500.00 (think these are 30%) Nismo short shift : BNR32, BCNR33 = AUD250.00 (think these are 10%) Order time for these parts is about 4 weeks Are the prices for the nismo kits any good?? Would I be better off with a nismo kit?? All responses appreciated and respected.
  7. Guess Ive been lucky growing up in the country from the age of 11. Been driving for 18 years now and licensed for 10 years. I started driving shitboxes in the paddocks and they were all manuals. I taught my missus to drive - firstly in a column shift LJ torana and then into a 5 speed gemini and she was going great but she decided that it would be easier for her to get her licence in an auto and she has stuck with autos since. She had a few gos at a 5 speed corolla I used to own (very easy car to drive) and she found it much easier because she had gotten used to driving and holding the car on the road and she could concentrate on the gear changes more naturally. She doesnt want to drive the skyline but cos she doesnt have enough confidence - get her in the VS wagon but and she thinks shes invincible!!! It will take time but the more you do it the better you will get. I cant beleive the amount of people on this forum that cant or dont drive manuals. I cant stand driving autos - not enough control.
