Question about buying parts from online shop!
performance-wise replied to Aya's topic in General Automotive Discussion
shift_tea - how much did nengun charge for the avcr delivered? -
doesnt seem to be going ahead. I contacted maltech myself and they verified the setup with AL but...... Been thinking about organising it myself but cos Im still a newbie and I dont have a trader rating - thought it might be 2 hard. Any one out their that would want to take over this cos I am sure their are some people that would still want these products. I know I still do.

wanna get over 350rwkw?
performance-wise replied to performance-wise's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
thnx for the info guys - so far Im leaning toward the avcr as I already have the power fc but I wont be getting it for a week or 2 so keep the suggestions coming. fatz - u takin the piss or what? I think I 'll go the second blow off valve and also get lowered door handles.... watch the horse power unfold then.... :-) Had a quick search for intercoolers but couldnt really find any usefull info. I just basically want to know about pressure drops and flow properties. Are larger end tanks better? I have the choice of buying a kit or getting a workshop to make me up a custom job. which front mount would be more suited to 250rwkw? -

Cihan, Thanx for the info on boost measurements. What is the factory boost setting for an rb25det? Regarding hks evc - what is there cost and wheres a good supplier? Any links for this one? Would the hks work well with the standard turbo until I upgrade it? does the hks have duel settings for low and high boost? what is the recommended boost limit for stock turbo but with front mount? Still trying to decide what is the best front mount to support 250rwkw. Any suggestions? thanx for taking the time to answer my questions. -
RB25DET: Changing the Spark Plugs
performance-wise replied to Anquetil's topic in Tutorials / DIY / FAQ
had the plugs in mine done a few weeks ago. Used NGK iridiums to suit rb25det. Took in for a tune the other day and had problems. Apparently I should have used NGK iridiums to suit rb20det as they run cooler. She runs nicely now and the plugs are cheaper! -

is the size of the end tanks on the intercooler important? Is bigger better? i noticed on my fc commander that the boost is in mmgh (same as the instrument cluster) what does this mean and can somebody please explain the difference between psi and bar. sorry for the newbie style questions - how else am I gonna learn? -

Do not stand by my grave and weep, I am not there, I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow, I am the diamond glints on the snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain, I am the gentle autumn’s rain. When you awaken in the morning’s hush, I am the swift uplifting rush Of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the stars that shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry, I am not there, I did not die…. respect ur life guys - u only get 1 shot. -

Boostd - u got a link to your thread? sorry -dont have time to search for it. Keep the input coming in about the intercoolers and piping guys - If I am gonna spend the $$$ I want some public opinion on their experiences and knowledge. I think I will install the boost control at the same time as the front mount and the oil catch can - any suggestions? So far I am leaning toward the apexi avcr - what do yous reckon?? -

ok. Ive edited the thread title and the power goal - seemed to be getting up a few peoples noses! I appreciate everyones concerns but how else does a person learn to drive and control a machine with high power outputs? Gran Turismo? I have been driving for over 10 years now, never had an accident and I dont drive like a granny. I have had plenty of experience driving commo 6 cylinders and V8s but no I have never owned a skyline untill 8 months ago. I travell over 400km a week to work on open highways and I have been in many situations where I have been lucky and I probably wouldve been screwed if I didnt have the skyline. I know my car, I know how it feels and its capabilities. I have completed my basic trainig and I beleive I am ready to take it to further levels. My aim is to modify the car one step at a time over a period. I will not be reaching 250kw in one hit. It will be graduall, giving me time in between mods to adjust to the power gains. Reason being - I want a mean mutha of a machine - not just another R33! I think you guys should let me worry about my own driving abilities and just keep those ideas and suggestions flowing. After Im done, maybe we can meet up on a track some day! Regarding front mount kits; What's better and why; -hks -hybrid -trust -

wanna get over 350rwkw?
performance-wise replied to performance-wise's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Please forgive my ignorance - as I previously mentioned, I am a newbie to performance cars. It sounds like a tall order to get that much power from the rb25. Maybe I should be looking at 300kw. This sounds much more achievable and reliable. Why I want this - I had my first real taste of a power increase in my car when I installed the power fc and got it tuned properly and I loved it. I loved feeling the car really open up and it made me hungry for more. The general feeling from you guys is that I should be looking at around 300kw so I will aim for this realistically. My next mods will be the front mount, boost control and oil catch tank. Any recommendations for a good front mount kit? I have been looking at hybrid kits and also hks kits and trust kits. Any one got any feedback and prices for these(and suppliers). I am also trying to decide on the best, most suited boost contrller. I have been looking at the apexi avcr - are these ok? what else is available? thnx. -
is this offer still available?

Question about buying parts from online shop!
performance-wise replied to Aya's topic in General Automotive Discussion
I recently purchased a power fc from nengun. They kept me up to date with my order and replied to my emails. Many other people from this forum have purchased parts through nengun and are very happy with the prices and service Just be carefull when importing into the country that customs dont overcharge you for any taxes or duties. If you ask the supplier about this they should be able to tell you if the part is exempt or not. -
OK. I wanna get over 250kw out of my R33 gtst. I would like to interact with SAU members so they can throw some ideas and tips from their expereinces and knowledge, which will help me decide on the best way to acheive my goal. I am not loaded with $$$ so it will take a while. Each time I complete a mod I will post the results. In a way, it will be a type of project car - upgraded with the most popular and proven products to use for the mods from fellow forum users. All opinions will be considered and hopefully debated for the best result. I am a newbie to forums and a newbie to performance cars and so far I am loving it. Thought this would be the best way to gain the info that I need to complete my goal without starting a hundred threads. Heres some details; -1993 series 1 R33 gtst rb25det in gun metal grey. - imported into Australia 9 months ago totally stock except for the rims (FR - 17" 235/45 & BCK - 17" 255/40) and brake pads (ebc blue stuffs) Mods so far in order; -Exhaust - 3" stainless front/dump pipe, stanless high flow cat, 3" stainless back pipe, stainless 4.5 inch tip. -Filter - HKS super power flow pod -Timer - apexi -front strut brace - generic brand -Blow off Valve - HKS super sequential -Computer - apexi power fc and commander The most recent addition is the computer (only 2 days before starting this thread) I have attached the dyna readouts from when I got the power fc installed and tuned on the 19/11/04. Feel free to let me know if I could have done things differently, or if anyone has any similar expereinces to share. Dyna results before power fc install = 150.2rwkw Dyna results after power fc install and tune = 183.3rwkw thanx in advance.

Need for a powerFC on a stockish car?
performance-wise replied to Guilty's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
you should get similar results as me with the mods that you have done already. had the power fc installed and tuned by EVO motorsports in Canberra. had a couple of issues though. I had a service done a short while ago and I replaced the plugs with NGK iridiums to suit RB25. I learnt yesterday that the best NGK iridium plugs for the RB25 engine are actually the plugs to suit the RB20, as they dont run as hot (think its got to do with aussie temperatures and fuel octane levels) Total for the install and tune was around $500 - your probably looking between $400 - $600 make sure you have newish plugs, fuel filter and air filter or element. Also have some good fuel in your car - like BP ultimate. I reckon youll be happy with the outcome. Good bang for your buck!! -
spotted a silver 32 turning into gladstone st-fyshwick white 33 with 34 front bar(unfinished) and a grey 33gtr (Both parked at EVO) Also a silver 33 gtr with white rims - gave the lad a wave but dont think he waved back.

Need for a powerFC on a stockish car?
performance-wise replied to Guilty's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Had my power FC installed and tuned yesterday. (I have attached pics of the dyno readout.) havnt installed a front mount yet and I am still running it on standard boost(these mods will be next). I reckon I should install the intercooler before increasing the boost to keep the intake temperatures lower. Would like to have had it all done but the $$ arent earnt yet. I gained 33.1kw (150.2kw up to 183.3kw) from installing and tuning the power fc and it is great to drive, more responsive and better on fuel. Also got more visual options and interaction with the commander and no limiter!! other mods so far; -3" stainless front/dump pipe with high flow cat & 4.5"tip -pod -bov car - R33 GTST(rb25det) -
I really hate rednecks in their "ute-muster" utes held together by RM Williams, CAT and "F*K me Im a cowboy" shtickers. theres this tosser where I work whos got a flat tray holden kingswood h fuc**n something ute with a 250wateva da f*k - peica motor, pasted with shtikers. fake truck mufflers up the side of the cabin, big ass RM Williams truck mudflaps at the rear, spotties, mismatched rims etc..... hes only 17 and hes da bosses son!! OMFG!!!!!!!!

Need for a powerFC on a stockish car?
performance-wise replied to Guilty's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I just purchased a power fc and commander through nengun for about $1100 delivered around a week ago. I am getting it installed and tuned tomorrow in Canberra at EVO. I have similar mods to you like zorst, BOV and pod. next mods will be FM intercooler, oil catch can, boost control, injectors, and finally turbo(also another tune), clutch, suspension and brakes/rotors. From what I have read the power fc (if properly tuned) will aid in the fuel/air ratio which is being altered with the mods you have taken out so far and also the low octane fuel available in OZ. It overrides the speed limiter and also gives you more visible readouts of your cars running performance and options and Gauges. the standard ECU is not programmed for any mods to the car. Since you have altered the cars breathing abilities then it makes sense to alter the management system to prolong the life of your motor and maintain the performance output by efficiently managing it. I dont know a lot about the PFCs but from what I have read so far it makes sense. The price offered in the group buy is very good - you wouldnt be able to find it cheaper anywhere. check out - http://www.apexi-usa.com/electronics_fc.asp for more info. -

performance-wise replied to TiNTiN's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I know I am digging up an old thread here but I am interesteed to know how you went with the hybrid FM. I am looking into getting one and I wanna find some competitive prices and some feedback on the FM and piping. Thnx.
