  3. there is no popping thats the thing, i could only feel that big dip so i knew it had to be something... i also thought that if it were the coils it would be missing all through the rev range, i must admit it isnt a very smooth curve so then it leads me to think maybe it is the coils playing up??? i dunno, i dont wanna fork out $600 odd just to find out its something else... but the mechanic says its the coils anybody else think it might not be coils?
  4. oh btw the second power run where the power drops off then picks up again is after he cleaned the coil packs and taped em up...

Well as the title says i got my car on the dyno after suspecting it wasnt running as hard as it should....mods are as follows: S13 RB20DET Full 3" Exhaust Nippon Denso f/pump POD FMIC ~11psi what can i say, power is no where near what it should be! after only just keeping up with a ca18det sil i knew something was up. Mechanic says all 6 coil packs are failing at once hence the power drop... he says it should keep climbing to about 140 - 150kw once i get them replaced... just thought id share it with you ppl, all comments welcome Joh
  6. i think if the r32 didnt launch then it'd b a close one, driver skill would play a big factor!
  7. oh btw, how do i check for leaks? like how do i know its leaking?
  8. dont think its pinging or any leaks, im guessing the clucth is fine and if it is slipping it would be very minimal, no smell.... i guess i gotta chuck it on the dyno then....
  9. forgot to mention he had an exhaust also... this might sound dumb but do i just ask for a dyno tune or something specific to be done on the dyno?

How can i tell if my car is running healthy, i've got a feeling its not putting out as much power as it should be....how did i come to that feeling, I had a little run with a s15 (think it was JDM) and he absolutely left me for dead, i had no chance what so ever. Had a talk with the guy and all hes running is fuel pump and 15psi! Me, i got rb20det, turbo back zorst, fmic, fuel pump, pod and 12psi in an s13... does this sound weird to anyone? anyone else think i shoulda at least kept up!!!! Joh
  11. hmm the car im guessing has done about 180k, strange because i just got that wheel bearing changed last yr... maybe he didn't put it in right???
  12. Hi, I'm having problems with my front suspension/steering (makes a grinding noise if i turn the wheel left and sounds clunky over bumps) anyone know what it might be? Can anyone recommend a place for me to go and get this sorted out...(Sydney) Does anyone know if UAS deals with these sort of problems? Thanks, Joh
  13. i thought you could run the standard regulator with no problems...im going for a nippon denso pump and ppl have used these without regulators with no poblems...
  14. yeh i said most of those things in my head...haha i dont know how a fuel pump would cost $600, maybe he has a high labour rate...lol, he told me it was a very good high flowing pump...haha i must look like a sucker
  15. i've changed the plugs to bcpr6es (0.8mm) and so far so good, havent given it a decent hit yet just waiting for fuel pump, but it seems to have disappeared...
  16. Hi, Well went to mechanic to get some stuff done, and he says to me, 'I can smell petrol from your car, it must be running lean, you need to change the fuel pump." How much for you to do that i ask.... '$600' Is there any truth in what he is saying or is he trying to 'upsell'.... I would of thought if you could smell petrol (which you can) the car would be running rich not lean... Joh

  18. Hi, I have a quick question, I'm running a rb20t in my sil and i still have the stock ca18t fuel pump...is this gonna take any power away and is it bad for the engine? Thanks, Joh
  19. nah its not backfiring its more like popping/stutter, i did a search and it seems its either the plugs or the coil packs, does anyone kno if the ngk plugs bcpr6es are already gapped to 0.8mm?
  20. I just had an fmic installed and when i give it full throttle it will start to pop after about 5000rpm. Wat could be causing it to do this? Is it a bad thing? My mods are as follows: RB20DET Turbo back 3" Exhaust FMIC POD 13psi (No boost controller...what the?) Joh
  21. how exactley do you go about replacing the mechanism? i have the exact same problem, my tacho reads very slowly...
