  1. Just quickly, is it possible to turn the screw so the car idles at like 1200 temporarily so that it doesn't stall? Until I get a chance to get the whole system fixed...or is that not good for the car?
  2. Happened to me while braking, I had the aircon and the radio on...didnt realise what happened till I noticed the HICAS light was on and realised the car had actually turned off...
  3. Yeah doesnt seem hard, just need time when I dont have uni, Yeah I thought so. Will wait for the proper stuff, till then just keep the revs up at the lights.
  4. Dont have a carby car so dont have carby cleaner....off to supercheap tomorrow. Unless CRC degreaser works? Dont wanna try without knowing what it does..
  5. Thanks . I have bookmarked this page already, just waiting for a day when I have a bit of time to do it, tried to drive today with the Air-con on and the car stalled everytime I stopped cause the revs dropped...need to do this asap.
  6. Didnt think it would be hence asking people who really know
  7. Will try to have a look. The mechanic told me about it when I got it inspected, he said they will try to clean the throttle body and then see if they need to replace parts. People on here usually seem to know exactly whats wrong so I thought id ask.
  8. Hi guys, Ive recently bought a R33 and am having an issue with it. While in neutral, just standing still, the cars throttle hunts (if that makes sense). The revs rise and fall, sometimes a really small amount, sometimes rises to 1500 and then drops to pretty much 0 where it feels like the engines gonna turn off. Car is a manual, completely stock as far as I know. The mechanic said lots of R33's have this problem so thought id have a go to see what peoples opinions are.
  9. Massive picture, my apologies, i just googled and found a picture that was closest to my needs.
  10. Changing fuel filler cap did nothing. Smell still there. Is the lip you are referring to the rubber ring kind of thing that sits around the filler neck? Similar to the one shown in this picture? As for the neck needing resealing, i see no movement so I don't know how difficult it will be to remove it. Most people in that link seem to have movement in the filler nozzle. The smell is definitely from the filler as it is strongest there. Also during the day, the fumes arnt really visible but if you leave the car with the filler flap closed, and then open it later, you can see alot of fume escaping and then it just stops.
  11. Lights leaking makes sense, I will fix them sometime, dont think rain is an issue for a while. As for fumes, I drove the car and looked and saw no fumes. The guy at repco said the fuel filler cap could be faulty so I shall get a new one and try it out.
  12. So upon further investigation, it looks like the rubber grommets I was looking at were just ones in the bottom of the boot where the wheel sits, the liquid is just water from when it was washed. Dunno how it got there but that is a seperate issue. From what I know, nothing has been changed. There is barely any smell in the boot itself, its all very focussed around the fuel filler cap thing. It seems like that's the part that's leaking as there is barely any smell anywhere else. I will try and check that tomorrow and see what I see, atm its parked outside cuz the smell of fuel is all over the house.
  13. Hey guys, So I just joined this forum today and took delivery of my new (not really new....or close to new) R33 GTST. Had it mechanically inspected and mechanic said it was all good but upon filling up fuel at the pumps, there has been a constant fuel smell from the pumps all the way home. At home, the smell seems to be getting worse. Had a look under the car and under the tank there are 2 rubber grommet things with a liquid around them but it doesnt smell like fuel. Car is absolutely stock, got a sound system but I dunno if that counts as a modification. Any thoughts? Thanks
