  1. Garrett GT2860R-5's Direct bolt on's.
  2. A thought provoking image http://www.slidingperformance.com/catalog/images/GT3040R.jpg
  3. I would not encourage hot shutdown's, Even with ball bearing turbo's damage can be caused. It is now common knowledge that doing hot shutdown's not only can damage your turbocharger but damage your engine. The topic has been covered many times before and logic always prevails. GTR's have nearly all journal bearing turbo's from factory and very rarely fail unless overboosted. The failure is because they have ceramic turbines not because they are journal bearing. Silvia's Journal bearing from factory. Toyota Supras, Surf's, Celicas.... Journal bearing. In some cases these are still all going after 100.000km. So saying that journal bearing turbo's previously have shorter life spans then ball bearing is a little hillarious. These at the end of the day have been driven like normal cars for many years and nothing has happened in most cases. There are always a very few amount of people that like to start the debate up every time with the same outcome. Sometimes hot shutdowns are unavoidable and i have had it occur many times due to something as little as an atmospheric blow off valve making the car stall. I have pulled apart many turbo's after this instance and bearings have been fine. There is this huge halo around ball bering turbo's and thoughts that they dont fail. This is not true and i have had pallot loads of ball bearing turbo's taken away as they do not have the versatility that journal bearing turbo's do and ease of repair.

  10. Hey guys With the results of the last banner competition i held quite a while ago i though i would use the tallent within SAU to find a new one. The site will be upgraded shortly to include Faq's for installs small forum for quick install help for turbo's etc and become more user friendly in the ordering side to be car specific.. Also on the site will be a new section for the cars we currently sponsor and details for those who wish to be sponsored. It will basically be quite a renovation when complete. So out with the old and in with the new. The current banner for the site is : The new image has to be 648 pixels by 80 pixels. The winner of will receive $100 for the banner that is used on the website. Any other banners that show great effort that may be used within the site will receive $50 if used. Only still pictures will be used. Please keep in mind that any pictures that may have copyrights will not be used. If you need pictures of something please let me know. Lets keep it turbo influenced The site i wish to keep heavily car/parts based so keeping a car, turbo, burnout, staging lights, drift etc is what im after for the new banner/s. After the 10th of January the winner will be announced and image will be used as the new Sliding performance Banner for the website and within forums. Any picture listed in this thread can be edited until that time. So feel free to post up any progress so i may help you win. The image must blend to black on the right to continue into the theme. ****DATE CHANGE FOR FINISH REQUIRED BEFORE THE 10TH**** Aaron
  11. Too many numbers everyday. Both are still rated at 320ps GTR HKS GTSS Trim :56 A/R :0.60 Ind :44.46mm Exd :59.41mm Turbine HKS GTSS Trim :62 A/R :0.64 Major :53.85mm Exd :42.40mm Still Garrett is the better all round option for cost-power
  12. The GT28060R-5's are nearly identical to the HKS GT2530's. I would personally go the Garrett if i were comparing the two. Listed are the HKS GTSS specs also which uses the same turbine as the GT2530's but slightly smaller compressor wheel although the GT2530's much like the GT2860R's turbines are usually clipped to increase exhaust flow. Compressor HKS GT2530 Trim :63 A/R :0.60 Ind :47.7mm Exd :60.1mm Garrett GT2860R-5 Trim :62 A/R :0.60 Ind :47.2mm Exd :60.0mm Turbine HKS GT2530 Trim :76 A/R :0.64 Major :53.8mm Exd :47.0mm Garrett GT2860R-5 Trim :76 A/R :0.64 Major :53.8mm Compressor HKS GTSS Trim :60 A/R :0.60 Ind :46.6mm Exd :60.1mm Turbine HKS GTSS Trim :76 A/R :0.64 Major :53.8mm Exd :47.0mm
  13. o0000oo0o0oh Im up for some water on the rocks
  14. The cracks are very common with alot of these turbo's and i wouldnt worry if using it, They all crack in exactly the same place. Unless you are replacing a 21U housing i wouldnt worry about doing the swap. The pitting is normal and will not affect the turbo's efficiency as it is just the guide lip for the center cartridge. If you have access to a sand blaster i would give it a quick go over to clean it up.
  15. I think the crazy spanish bish that was handing all the meals out wanted to kill me for starting the glass playing.

  21. Hitachi made ball bearing T3 turbo's. Ceramic turbines. None were ever released in steel. Throw aways I have heaps
  22. Alll the questions have already been answered many times before in the forced induction section of this website Ball bearing vs journal bearing: For these size frame turbo's the differences are not noticable enough to hinder performance. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...=131723&hl= This thread was set up by a member on the forum to document the great results he achieved along with others with one of my turbo's on an RB20DET http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...howtopic=142615
  23. I would be easily over 1000 if this were the case
  24. Highflows are generally direct bolt on items with no requirement for modification for intake and exhaust. They are the best bang for your buck upgrade you can get for 250+rwkw
