  1. If you see that guy again tell him to take his hand off it! Stock WRX turbo is a Mitsubishi TD04 which is bloody tiny. Gives great response and spool-up time but as far as flow goes anything above about 17psi is just frying the air and begging for detonation. The turbo itself seems to be pretty bulletproof and won't fly to pieces to those shaft speeds but the inlet temps will definitely cause detonation and it won't be long before a ring land lets go. Going above 16psi on a stock WRX turbo is pretty much a waste of time. Maybe he had an Autometer Boost gauge and thought he was pushing 22psi of boost standard? Cheers, Ben
  2. Atkins Diet? More like the At-Cans diet. Pete has elevated falling off the wagon to an artform. How you doin' anyway Bonkers? Cheers, Ben
  3. Sorry what was that Fatz? I find it difficult to understand you when you are talking out of your arse.....go for a run....pfffffffft! Only place you'll be running to is the bottle shop for a cold beer. You should try my revolutionary new diet-cup of coffee for breakfast, couple of frothy chops for lunch and a few frothy chops for dinner. I thought we were boozin and Nath's tonight. Ben (Fatz's personal trainer and guru)
  4. Now c'mon Fatz (or is it Thinz?), Is this the diet you started yesterday? Did you have a beer last night? I'd say it's a yes on both counts. I give you 2 weeks max. Cheers, Ben
  5. Guys it's just a feckin' car. If anyone thinks it's worth risking life for then they really need to take a hard look at their priorities. I've gotta say I really had a laugh when some moron started talking about the calibre of their handgun. This is a car-related forum after all. I think in general the people who frequent this forum are rational people and I hope that new people here don't expect that this sort of crap is the rule. Seems everyone's a hero behind a bloody keyboard! Cheers, Ben
  6. Hey guys! Fatz is already frothing at the mouth over next years Dutton. The enthusiasm is infectious! I think I've caught it! I've just gotta find some people stupid enough to sponsor me and someone stupid enough to co-drive a bloody WRX. Any takers..........................thought not! :bahaha: Seriously though I'd love to be there in 2004. I'm getting plenty of practice in on the skid pan! Cheers, Ben
  7. Woohoo. Well done to Fatz, Duncan and Dom. Great results guys. It was plain to see that you guys were struggling for grip on the wet skidpan and figure 8 at EC which makes your results even more awesome. What are you running next year Fatz? Not the 31? It looked like great fun anyway and I'm looking into the possibility of running my Hyundai next year. Should be good for a laugh. Cheers, Ben
  8. Getting back to the topic I don't think a power/weight restriction would be a bad thing. Ask any psychologist and they'll tell you that young males are far more prone to risk-taking behaviour than 25 & over. I know you can get into trouble in a Pulsar but a big power GTS or Silvia is much more difficult to control when you find the limits than a front wheel drive Pulsar etc etc. Understeer is seen as a 'safer' form of loss of traction which is why most car makers engineer their bread-and-butter cars to push at the limit. Maybe if a restriction was introduced it could be waived if a driver presents a CAMS license or some evidence of advanced driver training? Tough question and I guess there's no easy answer. Cheers, Ben
  9. Hey Dominic-Ben Gibson here. You just pop up everywhere don't you? I take it you're pretty happy with your new GT-R. Just a word to the wise-steer clear of that Fatz guy-he's a bloody menace. Watch out for Duncan too-i think he likes little boys. So you'll be giving the GTR a shakedown at EC skidpan on the 21st? I'll see you there.
  10. The sik light is very important Pete. We couldn't have any over-sikness now, could we?
  11. Hey Pete if you want to reduce the overall weight of the car then might I suggest you go back on the soup diet. Ben
  12. Hey Fatz, What size rims does it have on it? I might be able to get you onto some of those cheap 17" slicks.
  13. Guys, The blanket 50km/h limit has nothing to do with revenue raising. In reality it will have little or no effect on the motoring public but it will free up funds that are currently being spent on 50 speed limit signposting in residential areas. When this comes into effect all collector and arterial roads will remain at the same speed limit and will be signposted accordingly, while residential and local roads will be 50. This means that the millions of 50 limit signs on local roads will no longer be required and the only speed limit signposting will be on major arterial routes. On the subject of seat position I was unfortunate enough to attend a fatal accident where the driver had his seat back and "submarined" under the seat belt and drilled himself (I think it was a him) into the firewall under the steering wheel. I wouldn't wish that on anyone. Geez I'm a little ray of sunshine today, aren't I? Avagoodweekend, Ben
  14. They're all yours Dino. Seriously though the beer's not necessary but just remember-"I love New, I love New, I love New South Wales." I've got a dyno day with the rex club on Saturday but I should be around Sunday if that's OK. Give me a ring on 0412 459 787. Cheers, Ben
  15. Oops. I didn't notice you had a GTS-4. Just pull the ATTESA fuse out and kill the tyres as quickly as possible. The price is right. :burnout: Seriously though these tyres are just taking up space in my garage so if anyone wants them drop me a line. ....Ben
  16. Hey Doctor, I've got 3 205x50x16 tyres with about 50-60% tread left on them that you can have for free. Sava brand. Slightly lower profile but should fit fine and have the added bonus of effectively lowering your gearing a little bit. I'm in Wollstonecraft if you're interested. Cheers, Ben
  17. Gonad Man

    shit

Spewin' Pete. We can blame safety boy Wazza in Road Safety Wollongong for that. Maybe not but it will probably make you feel better to send him an abusive email. I guess this means you're off the grog for a little while to save up & pay the fine?
  18. A little bird told me that all Pedders shocks & springs are made by Monroe and painted red. Their shocks definitely are. Go the rumour mill!! Ben
  19. Channel 34 it is then Dan. I've got your number so I'll see you all there.
  20. I'm pretty sure there's no dramas machining a slotted rotor Duncan, but someone please correct me if I'm wrong. I'm now using Bradi slotted rotors which will probably get to the wear limit or crack before I need to machine them. Not sure about slotted/cross drilled though. Wouldn't touch them with a 10 ft stick.
  21. Pete you are a bloody menace. What language was that????
  22. Hi Michael, I had a squeaking problem that sounds a little bit like yours on my WRX which if I'm not mistaken has a very similar brake setup to your GTS-T. Mine would squeak at random times but not when I applied them. I had just fitted new pads (Bendix Ultimates) which were slightly larger than the OEM pads and the lip around the edge of my moderately worn rotors had worn a groove on the outer edge of the new pads. I took the rotors off and got the lip machined off for about $25 and the squeal was gone. If this sounds like what's happening to you and you have got a distinct lip around the outer edge of your rotor then machining them could be the way to go. Hope this helps, Ben
  23. G'day Hippy Yeah like Jim said it could be wheel alignment. It could also be tramlining. It is more prevalent when you run wider, lower profile tyres, more negative camber and tyres with stiff sidewalls like most good performance tyres. If you find the wheel is pulling mostly on roads with longitudinal ruts then this is most likely the problem. If this is the case a good wheel alignment and maybe lowering your tyre pressures a little bit will definitely help but for performance cars this is a bit of a trade-off we have to accept. Just something to keep in mind........ Cheers, Ben
  24. I'm there with bells on! What channel on the CB Dan?
  25. Howdy Guys, Mind if I come along? I hear if you get there early enough you can park & watch from the comfort of your car and the commmentary will be broadcast on FM. Cricketer's Arms afterwards?:alcoholic Cheers, Ben
