Hi guys, so picked up the HPI dump pipes today. Spoke to the seller and he said the dump pipes should connect to my existing nismo weldina dual 2.5 inch exhaust as the flanges are the same size. I thought the HPI dumps are 3 inch and won't work with my existing exhaust. To cut the story short, I won't have the budget to get the new dual 3 inch exhaust until later this year, my questions is will the dump fit onto the nismo exhaust and is it worth doing it now or wait for the new exhaust and install it all together? -

Found this about Nismo inlet pipes which says gives better response and boost pick up. http://www.r33gt-r.com/2011/10/nismo-air-inlet-piping.html Has anyone installed the Nismo pipes or a Greddy induction kit to their car, feel any difference? -

Hi piggaz thanks for the tip for the exhausts, with regards to the airbox are you saying it will lower the lag a bit compared to pods? And at what power level later on do I need to ditch the airbox? -

Hi guys After more research have decided to get the following. 1. Dump pipe: HPI dumps 76mm or Tomei expreme 68mm, which one is better? 2. Manifold: when I get the dumps installed should I also get exhaust manifolds as well? Again HPI vs Tomei expreme which one? 3. Exhaust: Custom twin 3inch with twin cats into 4 inch or twin 3 inch Y pipe into 3.5 inch off the shelf Tomei? Any feed back from people who have these similar parts would be much appreciated. -

Thanks for the tip, have thought about getting another tune, spoke to CRD in silverwater before and thought they were a bit expensive, how much would a tune cost normally cost? -

You're missing the point, driving at the track both cars are fine, I'm talking about the occasional drive from point A to B. When the Gtr is off boost, and you're in a normal gear in traffic trying to pass a car and there isn't a lot of time or space to let it get into full boost. You can't always be in 2nd gear at 5000 rpm. Now while the S2000 probably had less power and torque at the same rpm as the Gtr, it is alot lighter and being NA the reponse is quicker. Now my car before the turbo change was very responsive and great street car, but like I said before it's a weekend car and I do want to take it to the tracks more often so -5 was a better choice for me as opposed to -7 & -9 which are better suited to street driving. All I want to do is to lower the max boost from 5000 rpm to 4000-4500 so it can be a bit more drivable on the streets that's all. -

I know what your saying, I used to own an S2000 for nearly 10 years and Vtec only kicked at 6000 rpm, but it would rev to 9000 and actually had good response below 5000 rpm. So I'm used to high reving machines with little torque. But the the twin turbo Gtr is a totally different car, it's much heavier and has more traction due to bigger wheels and tyres. By changing to -5 turbos has compound the feel of lag as in not just waiting for power to come but also if your not in the right gear in traffic you feel like a sitting duck. Yes I can adjust my driving style which I have been to be in a lower gear say 3500-4000 just to be in boost. What I'm wanting is to have max boost dropped from 5000 rpm to 4500 or 4000 so there is more response in traffic. I know it will never be responsive like a NA car just can't get used to talking to my friends about what they did on the weekend and waiting for boost to come on. It's like, "hang on mate just wait it's coming, wont be long now, how was your weekend, ok here it comes" boost hits max, feels like a forever. -

Got LMGT4's so should clear R35 brakes. Got quoted Ap racing 6 piston front 4 piston rear kit installed at eye watering $8000! That's why I thought R35 brakes might be cheaper second hand. -

Price was from Liverpool exhaust, would prefer stainless steel as want to keep it for a while and don't want dents or bumps, can any one recommend another exhaust shop? -

Got coil overs and running toyo r888 semi slicks 295/30/18 atm. Only got projuct mu pads on stock brembo brakes, would like to upgrade to something like R35 brakes but can't find any for sale atm. -

Not too sure why from 3.5 to 4, guess I could ask twin 3 into 4 right through. I think the cheaper option is unpolished stainless steel, and the bronze is polished polished? -

Hi guys got a quote back for the exhaust, twin 3 inch into 3.5 into 4 inch in stainless steel supply and installed with black finish $2000, $3000 for the bronze finish, does that sound right? -

Thanks every one for the advise so far, looks like dumps and exhaust will be my first to do list. Reason for selecting the -5 turbos is that the car is a weekend car and i plan taking it to the track. Will be going to wakefield in a few weeks time As the car is not driven on the streets all time so didn't mind a bit of lag as long as theres mid range and top end. Happy to put up with some lag just not 5000 rpm which i think is too laggy even for a track car. Car was tuned by Adam from JEM and he said that he tune it with a balance between top end power and response, if he reduced lag would also lose top end. I will attach a dyno sheet when i get home tonight so you guys can have a look for me. -

Thanks xgtrx, i will be doing all the supporting mods later, just saving up for the build. Was told cam gears was dialed in a bit. So you think for now just changing the exhaust will improve response in the lower rpm? My nismo exhaust is from turbo back with twin cats, i'll have to change the entire exhaust system, would twin 3 inch into 3.5 inch be enough for the future as well? Thanks for your input on this. -
Hi Guys I recently had Garrett -5 turbos install to my R34 Gtr, it now has alot of lag which make street driving a bit "slow". My car before with the stock turbo had a very flat curve, full boost at 3500 rpm, max power 244awkw, very responsive with hardly any lag, but turbo looses puff after 7000 rpm. So I decided to get bigger turbos to fix the top end, was expecting some lag but now the car hits full boost at 5000 rpm! It takes at least second or two for the turbo to hit full boost. New turbos now make 292awkw limited by stock injectors and pump etc (will be done at a later stage). Now before you guys say I should have got the -7 or -9 turbos, my goal eventually is to get above 350kw on 98 or 400kw on e85. So my question is can someone tell me how to lower the lag down to 4500 rpm or even 4000 rpm if possible. Tuner says intake hard piping, bigger inter-cooler, exhaust shops says twin 3 inch into 4 inch exhaust, internet says cams, don't know what to do. Just want to lower the lag before I chase for more top end power, any advise or help from you guys would be much appreciated. My set up is Standard: motor, inter-cooler, injectors, dumps, cams, pumps etc Mods: Apexi pods dual 2.5 inch to 3 inch nismo exhaust Tomei cam gears Splitfire coil packs Greddy ebc Haltech platinum pro ecu Alloy radiator
