  1. Yes there are Tell tale sign is the colour of the film on the back that carries the electrical circuit Buff/Tan is pre 92 Bluey is 92 onwards I actually thought it was August 92 from memory but it could be Aug 91
  2. A sneak peek for the h8ers and one of the Tokyo Taxi
  3. Both of you are spot on. There would be no boost / positive boost pressure if the Turbo had failed. I should pay attention when skimming through what thru me was "Following the pop, for the next 5 minutes home, under any acceleration there was a high pitched whine from the engine bay" when I have popped an IC pipe in the past I have not had any noise after the initial "pop". to have a noise it may not be off completely or a smaller hose somewhere. Plus - I did my OP6 Turbo a few weeks back. I heard a PoP and any acceleration I received a whine noise . But your right the gauge did not go over Zero......
  4. I find Prepsol for painted surfaces in the engine bay works really well to remove oily, fuel, greasy stains. Just give it a good rub while it's wet. (Especially good for the fume stains on the underside of the bonnet) Tin foil (out of the pantry) is flexible to work over/around electrical connections (real easy). Plastic shopping bag over the airfilter/s. Degreaser for the engine as per the vid. Rinse down/dry off. Depending if your picky you can then use a mild cutting/polish compound on the engine bay painted surfaces like struts etc. Micro fibre off and then wax. Easier to clean next time. Stiff paintbrush is a good tip from the vid as with old tooth brushes mentioned above^^. Giving the hoses a quick wipe over with an interior cleaner brings them up shiney. And of course if you have shiney metal then a metal all purpose cleaner after a metal polish makes it look tits Using one of those power cones for polishing makes it a lot easier
  5. 1. Illegal ! (no one in control of the running vehicle) A vehicle sitting stationary with the engine running (Idle) get's warmer and stays warmer for longer. Although does cool your Turbo due to oil and water still circulating. It's better 2 minutes out to drive pedestrian and let it cool down. Forced airflow continues where as when stationary .... Like athletes - warm up and cool down. It will prolong the life of ALL your vehicles major organs. Turbo timer is good as it circulates the oil and water to the Turbo if you seriously don't have time and drive it VERY HARD (Race conditions) right up to your destination and then shut it off immediately. Turbo's start glowing between 350 to 500 degree's. If it's not glowing then your probably ok

  11. Firstly WRX's are now a girls car Beating your mates worked SR20 seems to be your objective. You will spend many dollars to do that. I think an EVO is something that would impress you
  12. Turbo's come in pairs - fair to expect they're of the same age and the one that hasn't gone will soon. The shop is correct in that refurbing the existing is not much cheaper at all. If your not a pro then don't buy a kit and DIY. A new pair will cost around the $2200 then fitting (which you can do yourself, it's a bit of a pain). Second hand good set will cost around $1500. You can get a pair sub $1k or even under $500 - this will be at your own risk and a lucky dip. Sorry I cant be more helpful
  13. the nistune will help you out no matter what you do with Turbo's There's a series of supporting mods you haven't mentioned in your post. So I assume you only have what's mentioned. Just buying a smaller Turbo won't help by itself. When you say buy something else you talking a completely different car ?
  14. The only steel wheel you'll get in an OP6 is if it has been opened and one put in it. I now have a high flowed OP6 with a Garret 2871 CHRA. Very responsive. and yes my OP6 seized when ^ Rob looked at it
