  1. just wondering if anyone has used the eBay rebuild kits with the steel wheels ? And how you found it, quality. Also with at sort of hp could I expect from them once built with steel wheels ?
  2. Xr6 turbo are t3 I have mine on stock manifold, starts making boost around the 3k rpm
  3. It will work, but will be way to restrictive and most likely choke the engine around 4k rpm so if you don't plan on reving it over 4k rpm then you will be okay providing you don't over boost a brake the ceramic wheel on the turbo. I suggest using something alittle bigger, no point building a 25/30 the putting a useless turbo on it. The xr6 ball bearing turbo gt3540 is good value for money can pick them up for around 500$ second hand and are a perfect size for rb30.
  4. Just had a few concerns about my oil pressure on my rb30det, sometimes if I was to sit at traffic lights my oil pressure on my dash would go down to 0 (the red light never came on) but I read that the factory gauges are notorious for failing, so I installed an aftermarket one. Unless it is reving at 1200-1400rpm the aftermarket gauge does not see any oil pressure. Driving is fine get at least 10psi per 1000 rpm if not more, but idling I get virtually nothing, I am running factory rb30 pump with 2x 6mm spring washers as shims. What can I do to Bring pressure up ? What is thickest oil I can run ? Thanks.
  5. That is not a drain it more like a breather from head to the sump. Yes you still have to run an oil feed, because this is what feeds oil to your first cam bearing/cap. I bought an oil Line kit from Autobarn about $12 which is used for mechanical oil gauges, comes with compression fittings and a couple of brass ones as well. You will have to tap a fitting into the front of the oil gallery located behind the intake cam gear. I used a 1/8 male to female elbow which allowed me to come straight in with my compression fitting. Have done around 1000 km with no issues.
  6. Leave oil pump as is, and shim the pressure relief valve with a couple of washers ( I used 2 6mm spring washers and my pressure is 4 bar on start up and about 2-3 once running), if I was to do it again I would probably put 3 washer in maybe 4.
  7. have an rb25/30 and am wanting to set up vct using the two jaycar frequency switches in series, I found that the tachometer signal is pin no#7. Will cutting and joining this wire to give freq switches a signal affect the rpm signal on the dash ?
  8. Thanks, what is best way to bleed cooling system ? I don't have bleed valve as I have a Freddiy plenum, I read that you can just raise the front of the car so that the radiator is highest point of cooling system and just run it with the cap off ?
  9. just finished putting an rb30det into my skyline and have a couple of questions. 1. What is ideal running temp ? Mine seems to want to sit at the 100 degree mark it has a large alloy radiator and twin thermos and Nissan thermostat, 100 just seems a bit hot to me, 2. Does the hose for the aacv have to be run in between throttle body and air flow meter ? Or can it run from atmosphere ( with a filter) ? 3. I found I have a leaky welch plug, just a slow leak a drop every now and again, it is in an awkward spot behind an engine mount, will this get worse and worse over time ? Or can I use a sealant to fix this issue ? 4. I have read a lot about bov, and am a it confused some people say it is a must have item and other say it is not needed. Will it harm my turbo if I am not running a Bov if it is only running low boost pressure ?
  10. My car won't be back on the road for a week or so, just finishing engine swap.
  11. I'm keen
  12. just finished putting rb30 and rb25 box in my r32 the other week, and am now looking to fit tailshaft, I have read that I can get away with the front half off an r33 and the r32 rear section, just to get me back on the road. I have seen some r33 tail shafts have the centre bearing on rear section while others have it on the front section, just having trouble find one with centre bearing on front half, just want to know what model / series skyline has centre bearing on the front section ?
  13. looking to buy the Nissan consult ecu talk v2 display pm ke
