  1. I had this problem about 2 months ago. The problem with mine was a small plastic connector which basically links the speedo cable to the speedo was crackes and as such wasn't gripping the cable. I tried taping the connector up as I couldn't source the individual component by itself, so I used some araldite and tape to attach the connector to the cable. I'd suggest you pull your speedo out (It's not hard, I got my time down to under ten minutes ) and check if this is the problem, the connector sits in the 'funnel' shaped bit at the end of the speedo cable, behind the speedo itself. It comprises of three parts, a spring, and outer casing and a plunger type thingy. Good luck with it, and if it's the same problem as what I had, pm me, mine has worked fine ever since.
  2. I have the same problem, used to tap the bottom of it and it would work for half an hour or so and then turn off again, but since I put my deck underneath that's a bit tricky now. I've pulled it apart a couple of times now and the problem seems to be the contacts from the circuit board into the plug (if you pull it apart you'll see what I mean), as when I put pressure on certain areas it would work. I think I'll have to just try and bend the contacts a little to ensure that they actually connect, but I think it will be a try and see approach and could take a while. Hopefully I can do it fairly soon and if it works I'll let you know.
  3. Don't ya just love it. I've gone one step further and got white rims on my black car, now there is a washing nightmare
  4. You tried pulling it apart? My speedo was stuffed about a month ago, a little plastic bit inside which connect the speedo cable to the speedo was cracked, used some araldite and duck tape to hold it together and hasn't missed a beat since. Not sure if Ceffy speedos are the same, but worth a try.
  5. Just get something to stop rocks from damaging your cooler, bugs can be washed off with a high pressure hose, stone damage takes a bit longer
  6. What's wrong with your speedo?
  7. Is Drag Combat still on? It looks pretty wet out there.
  8. Will it fit an R32 GTSt?
  9. Should be able to pick them up anywhere, Kmart, Repco, SuperCheap etc.
  10. Looks like a 350Z with different lights to me.
  11. Usually I go with a group of mates, so someone can usually watch our stuff, but perhaps an idea would be to get one of those plastic bags with the seal top, you could put your keys in there and put it in your boardies. Not sure about taking the key into saltwater without any protection over it.
  12. Maybe once this mystery is solved we can research the meaning behind Toyota and Mitsubishi's engines, anyone hazzard a guess at what 1JZGTE or 4G63 stand for?
  13. When you consider the fact that your car will onlyl be sitting around for acouple of minutes, you really don't need to use the turbo timer. The oil in the turbo isn't going to cool down in a couple of minutes, it's mainly for if you park your car for a couple of hours or more. As for the smoking thing, personally if I saw someone do it I'd grab the nearest fire extinguisher and put it out while their smoking it
  14. I understand your problem, my R32 has H3C globes as well. Couldn't find them anywhere, but went to Coventry's and they ordered them in. Can't remember how much it was, but it wasn't expensive.
  15. Personally I think they should be charged with attempted murder and tried as adults. This is a very serious offence which could easily have ended in tragedy. Perhaps these kids need to visit someone who has suffered as a result of an attack such as this, something which will make them learn a lesson. Perhaps the cat of nine tails could be brought back? An offence such as this can be 10 lashes, next time it's 50, then 100...
  16. Saw a GTR in a magazine once with a white engine (I think they painted the block as well) and everything else was black. Looked like the engine was just floating in the engine bay, looks very cool.
  17. Cheers for the help guys. Can I get at the speedo cable from under the dash, or do I have to remove the whole thing?
  18. It seems this is a familiar situation to some people on this board. My HICAS light goes on and my steering gets heavy. I ran the diagnostic and i think it said that i'm having troubles with my HICAS solenoid left side and my power steering solenoid. Does anyone know where these are? On another note, my speedo decided to stop working today, which gives me another problem to solve. Any ideas as to what this is? I'm gonna check the wiring to my ecu as I recently wired up a turbo timer into it so i may have made a mistake and got the wrong wire. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Cheers
  19. Could someone post the price of these? If the price is around the quoted figure so far, I think a few people may be interested in them.
  20. This is correct, if he was importing it under the 15 year rule, then he should have an import approval and he'll be right. If he doesn't have an import approval and the government knows his car is here it will have to be crushed or sent back to Japan. My brother's first import (an 87 Soarer) came in before the import approval arrived, but the authorities didn't know it was here, fortunately the approval came the next day and everything worked out fine. I think this is why Prestige now wait for approval before shipping rather than just assuming it will arrive before the car does.
  21. Maybe a cheaper option would be a Z18? Or the CA18 if it is inside the budget? Would you be doing the conversion yourself or getting a shop to do it?
  22. I agree with the comment about the big guards etc. I'm a big fan of the evo 5, the fattest of them all. The turbo Mivec should be interesting, good to see that they have updated the engine after 15 years. Look forward to seeing some figures.
  23. Yay, my car's value actually went up
  24. My RB20DET has done 145K and possibly more as it's been recently imported. Still running well, smooth as.
