Gearbox Query
R32Skyliner replied to R32Skyliner's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
After driving the car today, it's occured to me that it only seems to do this when its cold. Once it warms up it doesn't do it much, just occasionally. Not sure if this is a clutch problem, an oil problem or a problem with the synchros. -
I've been having a problem with my gearbox (89 R32 GTSt) where, when I let the clutch out to take off, it makes a crunching noise (grinding gears noise). This only happens when I let the clutch out slowly, if I let it out quickly it doesn't happen. Anyone have any ideas?

I was kinda lucky that the fuse to my fuel pump was blown and my master cylinder seal was stuffed when my car arrived, couldn't go and couldn't stop. When I went to pick up my car from quarantine, I walked around the corner and the warfies were doing a standstill in someone's 300ZX. They saw me and then quietly drove the car to its parking spot. Those guys are dodgy.

interesting satistic (anti hoon laws) is it true ?

I think you'll find that a lot of falcodores cop stickers as well. It's not just imports. However, if you keep your car legal, then there's no problems. -
Warning about people with intercoolers
R32Skyliner replied to bangahh's topic in General Automotive Discussion
That's not a bad idea actually. Maybe not on the front, but on the back, so it's easily identified. Perhaps ingrave your end tanks with you name and address? Perhaps everyone can put SAU and their username on their cooler so that if anyone hears or sees anything, they can let that person know. Did the car have an alarm? I can't imagine parking my Skyline in a dodgy area if it didn't have an alarm. -
I've got a black car

Man, that's shiny. What do you use on it?

MrMayhem, are you a wrecker or what? Could you give me a price on a pair of 89 R32 GTSt front indicators?

R32 GTST FMIC piping questions??
R32Skyliner replied to $$slowmedown's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Heard of people paying up to $1K for piping. I guess it depends on where you want to run the piping and how much you want to do yourself. You could probably go to an exhaust shop and get some pipes and then buy some silicon hoses and put it together yourself. If you choose this option, probably run the pipes along the front of the car and use then factory piping until it goes into the front area for the original intercooler. I'm in a similar situation, I have a cooler sitting in my bedroom and am trying to sort out piping. I'm considering the option I mentioned as it should be the cheapest, probably around your original figure. -
Show us your engine bay thread!
R32Skyliner replied to RB30-POWER's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Wow an invisible engine! What sort of paint do you use to get that effect? -
With the 25% rule, is that capacity or cylinders? Can you replace a CA18 with an RB20 without an engineer's certificate or only put in an SR20? And with the brake light thing, is that after 89 or including 89 cars? I got told at the pits that I needed one and my car is an 89 model. Cheers guys.

If you're not going to list your mods, then might as well not get insurance. The company will surely try to get out of paying any money by saying "we didn't know you had those mods, so we're not going to pay". Apparently Just Car are like this, hence you have to list everything. As for needing comprehensive, I've heard that you do, but don't quote me on that.

I like the 32 personally, but if anyone doesn't want their "ugly" Skyline then I will happily take it off your hands

What would you do :: R32 Project
R32Skyliner replied to MR R32's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Agreed. Cars are not a good investment as far as money goes. With cars, you put money in and get enjoyment out. It's an expensive hobby, but a great one. -
Might as well get an import R31 or S13, maybe even a Cefiro or R32 for the price of a local R31 and an engine transplant. Could probably pick up an R32 sedan for the money you wanna spend. Check import places such as Prestige and J-Spec.

What would you do :: R32 Project
R32Skyliner replied to MR R32's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
I've got a GTR kit on my 32 (except for the bonnet and grill). I never pretend that my car is a GTR and am glad that people don't think I have a GTR or else everyone would want to race me. I just think the kit is the best looking out there and the most practical. I'm hoping to get a GTR or carbon fibre bonnet in the future for the weight loss (however little it is) and will probably get a different grill to the GTR so that nobody thinks it is a GTR. As far as the original plan stated in this thread, it sounds great. If you can't get the RB25, how about just spending the money on the RB20? You also didn't include a new clutch on your list, mine is stuffed and the car only has a cat back and a pod filter. -
Which Colour for my R32 !
R32Skyliner replied to MR R32's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
I'd go with the blue out of those 3. But what about another colour, red, yellow, something which is uncommon. Perhaps black with a bright red or blue pearl in it? That's just my opinion, but I like to be different -
Why are these people smoking in someone else's car?? If anyone tried that in my car, they'd get a swift kick in the arse and be walking home.

Does that Calibra have any trouble opening his doors in multi level carparks? I just thought that with Lambos being so short, they wouldn't have any trouble, but with a taller car such as a Skyline it may have trouble. But if this Calibra doesn't have any trouble, then it should be alright on a Skyline.
-
In my humble opinion I'd take a 32 GTR for 25K. For that price you could get a very clean 89 model, or something that's a little rough with some nice mods. Either way, for a little more money you could have a bloody quick car with around 450hp if you go the GTR option.
-
I'd go for the GTR because well, it's a GTR. But if you need practicality and four doors then the 34 would probably be better, but if you want practicality and performance doesn't concern you shouldn't you be looking somewhere else??

Need help in regards to a harrassment issue.....
R32Skyliner replied to BoOsTeD_RB26's topic in Western Australia
I thought they could only really ask you to leave, and if you don't then get the cops to tell you to leave and if you cause any damage then you have to pay for it. If it were me, then I'd just let it go, if they send you a fine, then explain that the inspector tore it up and threw it down and you reasonably assumed that it was therefore invalid. -
For starters it's spelt 'fanatic' not 'fernatic' so he's obviously got the know how, not to mention the fact that you are right in saying that Barbagello is a race track and does not have a drag strip unle you count the main straight which goes up and down, or the other straigh which has a 180 degree bend at the end of it. Obviously a nutter :bs!:

Presige Motorsport
R32Skyliner replied to dmx_121's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
I imported my Skyline through Prestige and had no trouble whatsoever. Ended up soting about $1500 on top of the price quoted to get the car on the road. Main costs were tyres (about $650 for 17s) and alarm ($250). I also didn't know about the sunroof on my car (not sure how they missed that) and I got a set of enkei 17s instead of the mismatched 16s that were on the car originally. Overall, very happy with the service given, Geoff is very friendly and gives great personal service, highly recommended. -
I'd say just get the car dynoed, and if anything looks wrong with the graph, then you should look into it. If you wanted to, you could get the A/F ratios checked while the car is on the dyno. Might be pinging, but if this is the case, your engine is probably already dead. Have you heard any pinging? Have you checked all of your hoses for leaks (all of the air intake, intercooler turbo piping etc.)? Is your clutch slipping, any smell? Just a couple of ideas off the top of my head.
