  1. My display is a bit dodgy on my R32, it fades in and out (mostly out), but with a gentle tap on the bottom of the casing it will work for a little while. Since I installed my deck however, I cannot tap the bottom of it and therefore am without a display permanently. I tried to pulll it out today, but couldn't get the whole thing out, I unscrewed the 6 screws holding it in place, but couldn't actually get it out. I then proceeded to just remove the front of the unit until I reached the circuit board where I discovered that if I place pressure on the right (drivers) side of the display, it works. Unfortunately I can't get to the wiring behind it as I couldn't get the circuit board off even after undoing the 2 screws. So my question is how do you get the whole thing out? And how does the circuit board come off? Do I just need to pull harder or what? Cheers for the help in advance.
  2. I've got an 89 R32 which I got regassed a couple of months ago. It had the old gas, so the place which regassed it used a replacement gas, which means the whole thing doesn't have to be replaced, but the gas is safe. All up cost about $160.
  3. That couldn't possibly be genuine. $10 million for an 11 sec car?? You could build the car for around $100K
  4. I think the restrictions placed on P platers should include a power restriction. Most people on this forum will understand that if it's wet, then you don't want to be boosting mid corner or the car will go sideways. This has happened to me on many occasions and I've just corrected for it and continued on. Less power would prevent this from happening and extra training would help this as drivers would understand how to correct this. I have done a driver training course, and the main thing I learnt from it was awareness, not how to control a car (I reckon you can get this by practising in an empty carpark or closed quiet street). The drive that my course went on involved driving a stock commodore around the streets and pointing out things such as "there's a child playing on the side of the road 200m up who could step out onto the road, I miust be prepared to stop". Stuff like this is why there is a 50kmh limit on suburban roads. To be doing 200kmh on such a road is plain stupidity and unawareness of the potential consequences. It all comes down to maturity and being aware, don't speed just because your mates want you to and think about what could happen. That kid might just step out in front of you and you have to be prepared to stop, otherwise its off to jail for you. Alternatively, you must be aware of that dip or crest in the road which will unbalance your car and send you into a pole, then its off to the morgue for you. My solution is restrictions and extra training. Lectures demonstrating the consequences of speeding may also help, possibly with victims of car crashes (those who survive) speaking.
  5. Also ban painting cars 'fire engine red', red goes faster. Not to mention custom interiors (who the hell puts Motley Crew on their ceiling??). An easy 50hp with these mods
  6. Old rusty Datto 1200 with 145 tyres
  7. I was in an accident a few years ago which was just a case of stupidity, I hit a power pole doing 140kmh and walked away with no injuries. Whenever I hear a story such as this, it scares me to think what might have happened and how lucky I am to be alive. That incident has never left me and gave me a new sense of vulnerability and respect for cars and roads. Driving is a privilege not a right. My heart goes out to his father especially, he'd probably be feeling some sort of regret and reponsibility for the accident. But it was something which was out of his hands. Hopefully everyone can learn something from this person's mistake so that others do not have to go through the same thing.
  8. I guess it depends on what you're after. If you compare an SR20DET 5spd 180 to an RB25DET 5spd R33, then the 180 will have the price advantage and the practicality of a hatchback. But I'd think that the Skyline would be better in every other department, faster, better suspension setup, better brakes. Probably similar value for money so i guess it depends on how far you can stretch the budget and what your needs are.
  9. Does anyone know how much an RB25 box is?
  10. We may have found plates for it
  11. You haven't got flat spots on your tyres do you? Been pulling handbrakies? This can also cause the car the shake quite violently at this sort of speed.
  12. You tried just going to tyre shops?
  13. I've heard that they will do this if you fail to list any mods. Don't lie to them or they will bend you over like a true insurance company. :whip:
  14. Stupid, is there a reason for you just getting on here and taking the piss?? Can the moderators ban him? Not only are his lies annoying, but i find his poor grammar offensive.
  15. $690 where? And what do you get for that?
  16. Geez, i feel so sorry for you, having to sell your skyline because you have to drive a crappy old 2003 model M3. I'm just glad i don't have to put up with that sort of stuff. My deepest sympathies for you. But seriously. Good luck to ya, make sure you drive it how it was meant to be driven
  17. Yeah, probably a good idea. Report it to carsales and ignore the guy. If you get any more emails just say someone offered a substantially better price and he is too late, the car is sold.
  18. Did you swap the gearbox over? And if you already had the HD Clutch, did it fit the new gearbox (if you changed it that is)? I'm just curious about this, not actually thinking of doing it (for now anyway ).
  19. I didn't realise they actually made these. I saw one in a MOTOR magazine, but i thought it was only a prototype. Seemed like a nice car, they're good looking and with 400hp would go alright too. A stocky as a daily driver would be alright though, nice comfy car.
  20. How much does an RB25DET cost? And how hard would it be to put one in a 32? (ie, do the mounts match up and stuff)
  21. Yeah, everyone cops it on both L's and P's. I used to not wear my P's because i found that people used to treat me better on the road (ie not tailgate or cut me off). I'm not condoning this activity because it carries a $100 fine for each plate (never happened to me though). But people can be morons, and you'll find that each and every day you'll come across people who have no understanding of the road rules or do not understand common courtesy. Its just a fact that we live in a world of stupidity.
  22. I've got an apexi timer, i found that its just handy if you don't like sitting in your car waiting for it to circulate the oil. Does anyone know which wire in the r32 gtst is for the air/fuel ratio? I don't have this feature hooked up yet coz the guy who installed it didn't know where it is.
